If you’re looking for a quiet and relaxing hotel with all the special amenities-this is it. Hotel Walloon is set on the edge of Walloon Lake in northern Michigan, located between Petoskey and Charlevoix. Although built within the past ten years, it has all the feels of a turn of the century fabulous lake house. When you walk through the wide front porch you’ll be greeted by name from the staff. The rooms are luxurious and baths have heated floors-feels so good on a cool morning. There are many places to grab a latte (from a dreamy coffee machine) and retreat with your favorite book. Hotel Walloon provides wonderful happy hour appetizers you can snack on before having dinner at a local restaurant. After that, be sure to stop back in for dessert offered nightly to guests! The cozy fire pit by the lake offers a relaxing spot for a final glass of wine at night. I was so impressed with the staff. Housekeeping found a bag I left with my brand new AirPods in there…and the hotel so graciously mailed them back to me! We will definitely return to this gem on the lake.

Our stay at Hotel Walloon was nothing short of perfection. The breathtaking views, combined with impeccable service, made me feel like I was on the concierge level the entire time. Every detail was attended to with such care, creating an atmosphere of pure luxury and relaxation. Everything was clean and felt “new” with a lake charm (not cheesy). I can't wait to return to this gem of a hotel—truly a 5-star experience in every way!

We went for a long weekend to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday. The stay was fantastic from start to finish. The location was great and made it easy to get to Boyne City and Petoskey, while being able to stay in a more quiet, less busy place. They went above and beyond to create a very special weekend we will treasure forever.

Unequivocally, Hotel Walloon is the class act of hotels in Northern Michigan. Only 32 rooms and suites, it offers 5-star service, amenities and comfort. This was our fourth time visiting and it has stayed consistent each time.

Love the coffee machine (fresh made coffee and even skim milk caps), daily food offerings from continental breakfast to apps after 5:00PM and desserts after 8:00PM. Welcome glass of wine a very nice touch.

My favorite thing about the place is the Walloon Inn, just a few steps from the hotel overlooking Lake Walloon. At night you get amazing sunsets and the outdoor dining area features plenty of heaters. Indoors you can enjoy the piano player in the lounge area.

Overall, Walloon Village is a few blocks long (they are building yet another condo building with more retail) and is adorable for adults looking for a quiet yet luxurious experience (you seldom see kids here). Book well in advance.

If you ever have the chance to stay at Hotel Walloon, you must! The ambience, staff, and food are absolutely top notch. The decor makes you feel like you’re a guest in Ralph Lauren’s home. The staff couldn’t be more personable and helpful and the food at both The Inn and the more casual restaurant next door was delicious.

Recommended by a friend, so we stopped by for a tour while up north in 2023. Looked amazing, especially the corner rooms. Made reservations and visited in March of 2024. Staff was the best I have ever experienced, knew our names day 1 and frequently asking if we needed anything. The Hotel was great, rooms so nice and joining the other guests by the fire with wine every night was excellent. Very comfortable and an at home feel. I can't say enough good things about the Hotel, we plan to return next year. Call and ask about their discounts, you will be surprised what they offer. Amazing experience.

This was our first visit to Hotel Wallon and it will not be our last. In retrospect, we made one mistake...we should have spent more time on this gorgeous property!! We hadn’t visited this area in sometime, so we were a bit preoccupied with reacquainting ourselves with nearby towns. The five star reviews here spot on. The staff is exceptional in every way, welcoming, charming, kind and accommodating. The other guests we interacted with were so delightful and made the ambience even better. We are sticklers for classy, beautiful interior design and the Hotel Wallon delivers. The designers deserve a national award for their incredible results. Absolute perfection! Our room on the lake side was heavenly, spotlessly fresh, extremely comfortable beds and linens and like the rest of the property beautifully designed. Peaceful, restorative comfort in every way.

The breakfast was simple, it very good. The scones and the muffins were delicious, especially the cinnamon muffin. This leads me to the one change that needs to be made, and that is the coffee. It’s simply not good. It’s a simple fix. I’m not obsessed with Starbucks, but their Pikes Place Roast would be a good suggestion. Great coffee is soooo important, please address this!

Our thanks to the Hotel Wallon for a lovely stay!

Greetings! I cannot thank you enough for your wonderful review of our property, its amenities and our staff. I am so happy that we were able to make your first stay with us here at Hotel Walloon a stay that you won't forget. We are always striving to exceed our guest expectations in every way possible. Our designer, Kathryn Chaplow, definitely did an amazing job with her perfectly appointed touches within the hotel. We love the charm that she has been able to set the hotel up with, adding to the ambiance for our guests. I want to thank you for your feedback in regards to the coffee. We just installed our new coffee machine, Mel, with some new espresso beans. I hope that when you return, you will find this coffee to be more to your liking. I appreciate this feedback, as this is how we can know areas where to better our hotel and our service. Again, thank you so much for taking the time to review our property. We look forward to seeing you again in the future! Warm Regards, Emily

This place is just the best. We love coming here to relax for a few days every winter. Hors d'oeuvres are tasty, cocktails are well-made, fire is warm and rooms are perfect. The staff is always friendly and helpful. I'm pretty sure someone brushed the snow off my car during our last stay.

There is not very much traffic noise. I can not remember the last time I heard a complaint from a guest about noise. I suppose if you're a very light sleeper it could interrupt your sleep. We have a large parking lot across the street from the hotel where you can self-park as well as parking on the street in front of our property. We have complimentary valet as well at Hotel Walloon.
