Our stay in Walloon Lake was absolutely amazing. I grew up in the area so it’s wonderful to see how this small village has been revitalized. The hotel was high end SWANKY and by far the best stay we’ve had including multiple hotels, B&Bs, and resorts across the world. The ONLY thing I could say to make it an 11/10 would be if there were a pool - we did enjoy the heated spa though and turned out we were the only ones using it so was a private little beachfront oasis (I did not see this as an amenity on the website so was a nice surprise). We were easy driving distance to multiple wineries and of course Petoskey as well as two lovely restaurants within very short walking distance, plus a little coffee shop, ice cream/candy store, and chocolate shop all right across the street. The hotel itself has everything you need, lots of small and high end touches including 24 hour snacks, coffee machine (which makes delicious espresso and cappuccino drinks including iced drinks), and a small speak easy type bar that is for hotel patrons only. The rooms even had binoculars for gazing across the water and we enjoyed sitting on the balcony both at night and in the morning as well as drank our morning coffee while sitting in the rocking chairs on the wrap around porch. Overall - just a wonderful gem. Will most definitely be back!!…

5 of us (including the pilot) flew from SE MI to Boyne City/Hotel Walloon for a murder mystery weekend. The murder mystery event was fun, but the hotel and staff were above and beyond excellent! For the first time in a VERY long time, I wish I could give 6 stars! I also wish I had taken my TripAdvisor excellence pin as I would have given it to the hotel. Every hotel employee is to be commended; it would be unfair to start listing names as I'd surely miss one. The hotel was immaculate. The rooms were very well-planned and well-kept. I was surprised (and delighted) to see an Amazon Echo ready to go in our room. We found the body lotion to be the best we've ever used and are checking how to find more. The hot tub with a lake view was incredible. The shuttle from/to the airport (thanks Jacob!,) the campfire by the lake, the front porch with rockers and call buttons, the do not disturb lights, the breakfasts, snacks, the indoor fireplace, the bar/bartenders... all excellent. I've spent 2 separate weeks in different hotels in Orlando and another week in a fine DC hotel over the past month and Hotel Walloon was far and away superior. OK, I'm gushing. I used to be the global learning tech manager for one of the world's largest hotel companies and I nev-ah gush over hotels. This one is THE exception. It easily rivals any Intercontinental Hotel. …

This simply was one of the most fantastic hotel experiences that we have ever encountered. The extra touches and though that is put into the hotel stay are magnificent. We had room 21, a corner king suite. It was well appointed with a very comfortable bed, furnishings and other amenities. When we got to our room, there were two handwritten notes greeting us. There were reusable water bottle in the drawer fridge. The hotel provided finger foods and bar services throughout the day too. And there are plenty of games and books available for when going out isn't an option. We can certainly say that we will be back and are already looking forward to it. It's not often that one can say that they miss staying at a hotel, but this is one.

Beautiful hotel and excellence attention to detail. This stay was a luxurious and guests are pampered. Wonderful snacks and desserts offered along with excellent views of the lake. The rooms are elegant and spacious and wonderful amenities including chocolates and lip balm during turn down service.

This hotel has a staff that is the most superior of any that I have enjoyed in the United States. After a career in sales that has taken me all across the country, I have to say that Hotel Walloon is the most accommodating and friendly and engaging place to stay that I've ever experienced. Manager Amanda and Jack-of-all-trades Jacob have made our stay beyond delightful. They provided super service plus excellent dining and activity suggestions. We will be making reservations to stay here again in the fall. You will love this elegant and modern property!

Mother/daughter relaxation weekend with my adult daughter. We visited some local spas while staying at Hotel Walloon. We enjoyed our stay so much and plan to make it an annual event. The staff was so warm and welcoming and the rooms and beds are very comfortable. Can’t wait to come back!

My Christmas plans were cancelled due to the blizzard and booked a stay last minute at Hotel Walloon. The accommodations were top notch - everything was beautiful, well thought out and special, with extra treats and handwritten notes! The hotel was full of holiday spirit and a wonderful staff - very attentive with incredible service. Highly recommend and will definitely be back.

We cannot stop RAVING about Hotel Walloon to friends, family and colleagues -- what a hidden gem in Northern Michigan. We visited last year as a (ideal) alternative to Boyne Mountain, returned this year for a pre-Christmas getaway with family from out-of-town, and have decided it will be our annual family tradition (so long as they'll have us and our boys back)!! What's not to love? The STAFF, the beautiful touches everywhere you look, the food, the magic of the lake, and did I mention the staff? Thank you!
