Great place to stay in Traverse City. Beautiful lodge. We stayed in a two bedroom unit. Excellent master bedroom with Air Tub. We would have rated our stay 5 stars except the hot tub in our room would work for 5 minutes then trip circuit breakers on the room's GFI circuits. Maintenance promptly responded several times but never fixed the cause. Frustrating. Front desk very friendly and efficient. We understand about the Covid limitations and having to refresh our towels in the washing machine and dryer. However, A note of the house rules stating extra towels would incur a lodge premium charge along with penalties for not removing "extra" garbage seemed overly negative for an over $400/night room.
We have stayed at several hotels in the Covid era this year. No other establishment has required us to take out our own trash or incur a $50 fine. Every other hotel still provided coffee in the room (Tamarack used to keep hot coffee available in their lounge, but no more, and no provisions in our room). For $500 (2 bedroom suite) per night we got shabby worn out furniture, worn out TV remotes, no coffee, and unfriendly front desk staff. We will be booking elsewhere in Traverse City in the future.
We visited in the Tamarack July 24 - 27, 2020. We had a huge 2 bedroom condo on the 5th floor. Amazing views of the Lake and breath taking sunsets. The Lodge went above and beyond with their measures regarding Covid-19. The private beach is small but it's absolutely fine. Lots of tables with umbrellas to sit at. There are plenty of restaurants, shopping and wineries close by. Staff was very welcoming and friendly. We will definitely be back :)
This is our 2nd stay at the Tamarack and it has been awesome both times. The rooms are spacious and extremely clean and well kept. The location is great and the views of the water are breath taking. Every staff member has been personable and welcoming - absolutely no complaints. We will definitely be returning in the future!! This has become our “happy place”.
The accommodations and service at Tamarack Lodge are exceptional and highly recommended. The issue we had was the location--it adjoins a very busy, multi-lane U.S. highway with a 45-mile per hour speed limit. The noise, especially in the morning and the evening--but almost any time, prevented us from enjoining any quiet from the property's location on the beautiful Grand Traverse Bay. (Since we were there after the high season, we can only imagine what the noise level would be then!) The property does its best to position the rooms toward the back, but on the ends--as we were--we could hear the noise clearly (and sometimes loudly) when we were on our patio. We get that part of the location issue appears to be the way it is in Traverse City, i.e. there are dozens of hotels next to each other along US 31 by the Bay. However, if you're looking for a more serene beach/bay/lake experience, you may want to consider a location other than Traverse City.…
