The Grey Hare Inn Vineyard Bed and Breakfast is an elegant and quaint country estate located on Old Mission Peninsula in beautiful Traverse City Michigan. Surrounded by breathtaking vineyard, orchard and distant bay views, the Grey Hare Inn boasts an almost guaranteed peaceful getaway. Spend your day walking in the quiet hardwood forest (we recommend snowshoeing in the winter), or spend time basking in the gardens underneath Northern Michigan’s sunshine; with a glass of local wine, of course! If you’ve never played the French summertime classic “Bocce Ball”, now’s your chance: we have an entire court for it! In the evening, the Inn’s limestone fireplace is usually roaring, ready for those crackling late-night conversations or comforting reads. On a warm summer’s evening an outdoor fire-pit is typically ablaze underneath the sparkling Northern Michigan starry-night sky. Come and see what is "Pure Michigan". As of 2020, the Grey Hare Inn is now under new ownership. Please refer to our most updated photos and website for better room and breakfast descriptions.

Great Location, quiet, but only minutes from the tourist sights, and wine tours of the Old Mission Peninsula. The room was very comfortable and well appointed, with extraordinary views of the vineyards nicely wooded walking trails and the most wonderful sunrises. Sarah and Dereck, our hosts, were incredibly welcoming and so very helpful! And the first class breakfasts, each day, were nothing short of amazing. I am certain we will be returning to see what unexpected treats await us as the seasons vary.

You turn off M37 onto a gravel road; perhaps wondering about the directions. Continuing over rolling hills, you soon come upon lavender fields, vineyards and orchards; then the Grey Hare Inn comes into view. The setting is serene and very much suggestive of the South of France or the hills of Tuscany.
The inn’s three rooms are each different and beautifully appointed. We chose the Barn-Wood room on the upper level for its expansive views in three directions including part of the West Arm of Grand Traverse Bay; its sun room providing a pleasant start to the day with a coffee or tea.
Our hosts, Karlee and Taylor were attentive and eager to help make our stay pleasant and memorable. We enjoyed gourmet breakfasts on the patio expertly prepared by Karlee, a trained and experienced pastry chef, who gladly accommodated any dietary restrictions. We enjoyed a personalized and informative vineyard tour with Taylor who tends to the vines. It’s an extra charge, and we highly recommend it.
If you’re seeking a unique inn away from crowds where beauty, tranquility and quality are priorities, we highly recommend you consider the Grey Hare Inn. We truly enjoyed our stay and will be back.

What a beautiful summary of what is the essence of the Grey Hare Inn! We're glad you enjoyed its "beauty, [and] tranquility" and hope you'll come back to enjoy it again. It's awfully beautiful and serene here in the Fall as well... All our best to you and yours!

My husband and I spent two nights in the Vineyard Room in mid-October and enjoyed every minute of it! From the large room with separate living area to relax in, to the comfy bed and amazing private patio we will definitely be back! The B and B offers a large outside patio as well and the views are amazing from all points. The breakfasts were delicious and the port and chocolate delivered nightly was such a treat!
The Inn is easy to find and mid way between all the wineries and hiking areas that the peninsula has to offer. There are a few wineries within walking distance as well.
Dinner reservations are a must with Covid and we also made reservations at the wineries to avoid wait times during this pandemic.
We will definitely be back to enjoy this peaceful bed and breakfast!

Our stay at the Grey Hare Inn was the best B&B experience we have ever had!!

You'll find pure luxury and first-class hospitality, tucked away in a beautiful & peaceful setting on the Old Mission Peninsula, just minutes from downtown Traverse City and walking distance to three of the best wineries on the OMP.

Sarah & Dereck are absolutely wonderful hosts of the extremely comfortable and well-appointed Inn - we truly enjoyed meeting them and their sweet little dog Bella (my best friend, forever!). Sarah is a true culinary artist, crafting delicious gourmet breakfasts for us each morning, which were nothing short of incredible! Our suite was fantastically luxurious and we really loved indulging in our evening "nightcap" in front of the hearth in our room, downstairs on the patio overlooking the neighboring orchard, or simply in the welcoming great room, listening to music.

We cannot wait to stay with Sarah & Dereck (& Bella) at the Grey Hare Inn again on our next visit to the OMP and Traverse City!

We stayed here a year after our first stay. The inn is under new ownership and management, and Karlee (the new manager) has done a super job! We stayed in the same room as last year, and Karlee has updated some of the furnishings with good results. Her breakfasts are absolutely wonderful! The views from our room (the Barnwood Room) are amazing, too. They provide a fridge for guests' foods which was appreciated. Our only recommendation is to put a TV in the rooms. We are not avid TV watchers, but some events occurred while we were there that a TV would have been useful to have. The location is perfect for exploring Old Mission Peninsula, as well as going to Traverse City and visiting Leelanau Peninsula. We hope to return!

Our stay was wonderful and relaxing at the Grey Hare Inn. We stayed in the Garden room and it was the perfect size for a couple. The stone shower was great and all of the lavender products in the bathroom from the Lavender farm down the road were a wonderful touch ( I had to go buy some for myself) Sarah and Dereck were very accommodating and the breakfast each day was beyond incredible. We will definitely be back.

My wife and I had a nice stay during a relatively quiet period on the peninsula. The inn keepers, Sarah and Dereck, are great hosts and full of good suggestions for things to do around the region. A home cooked breakfast every morning was a nice touch.

I liked the location for it's tranquility. Being about half way up the peninsula, it's close to a lot of wineries but still only about a 15 minute drive into town. If you're flying in from out of town, I'd recommend having a car to get around.

The Grey Hare Inn is a delightful stay with gracious hosts and cozy amenities. The hosts went out of their way to help me reschedule when my trip was delayed, and I am so glad they did! Grey Hare is in the heart of wine country in Traverse City, surrounded by its own beautiful vineyard and garden. The quiet countryside will lull you into relaxation, and the hosts will awaken you with a delicious breakfast and warm welcomes. Play bocci in the garden while sipping a Traverse City's Reisling, then enjoy a deep night's sleep in their luscious linens. If you're visiting Traverse City and looking for a romantic getaway - this is the only place to stay!

The Grey Hare Inn was a lovely, small B&B set in a vineyard with beautiful views, a quaint setting and very quiet. Dereck and Sarah were friendly, kind and very helpful for tips and places to go in the area. Sarah’s breakfast was delicious, and I enjoyed the wine and chocolate night cap. I would highly recommend this B&B for couples and I would return again for another visit.

This B&B was full of great things. Driving onto the property we knew we were in good hands. The house is beautiful on the inside and out. We stayed in the Garden Room which had an awesome view of the vineyards. The room felt updated and clean. The breakfast we had on our two mornings was excellent - full of flavor and we did not leave hungry. I would recommend this spot to anyone looking for an amazing weekend on Old Mission Peninsula.
