We arrived to the park at 1 am on a Thursday and we were 8th in line. As an anxious person, I was concerned that I wasn't doing something right. However come 7:30 am the rangers began handing out tickets, which you then brought to the office at 8 am. They had 22 spots open that day so there was... More

This campground is the perfect location to experience sleeping bear dunes. Spacious private sites located only a short walk away from a gorgeous beach with the clearest water. You can't beat the price either, $12 a night. The campground is a very popular spot though and it can be difficult to get a site since it is first come first... More

Highly recommended rustic campground, big spacious spots to set up all of your camping gear and give you a level of privacy from other camp sites. A nice feeling of being safe as well. Get there early as this place is usually quite busy. The beach is wonderful and for those of you who like to stargaze this is a... More

It seems that this area is becoming more busy again after quite a few years of a drop in tourism. We showed up at 4:00am on a Thursday morning, and were the 13th vehicle in line. You have to steel yourself for the experience of getting into the campground, because it is kind of stressful. If they run out of... More

My Boyfriend and I just spent a night (yes, ONE night and I wish it had been more!) staying at DH Day after spending a couple nights in the area and had a great time...the sites felt large and secluded and we were within walking distance to a beautiful beach that we were able to take our dogs to for... The DH Day Group Campsites are great! Large open and wide spaces to set up multiple tents. Our group of 11 had plenty of room to enjoy our camping trip. Each group site (there are four) come with a fire pit and three picnic tables. The area does have some poison ivy- so be warned. It was a bit windy... More

Whow where do I start first great location , now for my experience rangers everywhere I guess they didn't get the sequester memo they are on you like prison guards, started a fire and ut was smothering when we left and got warned about it ,then I had my two grand babies and we would only be able to set... Located in Glenn Arbor, MI, a long way south of Traverse City. I have been to some of the best beaches in the world (Hawaii 8 times, Thailand, Caribbean, Turkey, Zanzibar, etc.) and believe me, this is in the top 5 except that the crystal clear water is about 65F, easy to get used to but certainly not warm. White... More

I wouldn't consider this "Traverse City", but more Glen Arbor. Regardless. 88 rustic sites. Rustic means Pit toilets, and spigots for water. Bring jugs or other water carriers. NO RESERVATIONS at this campground (unlike the park's Platte River campground to the south) but there is a 15-30 site turnaround each day, so if you show up early enough, you'll probably... More

This is a great place to stay while visiting Sleeping Bear. The campground is 3 minutes by bicycle from the attractions in Glen Haven and 15 minutes by bicycle from the Dune Climb. The sites are only $12/night. The view from the beach at night is priceless (both the stars and the lights from the houses down the shore). This... More
