Close enough to go on day adventures too. Made smores in the fire pit every night. They have three kayaks that are guests can take out any time to a little island that you can go explore.

I am a single mother with three children and planned a week trip at Windjammers. I found the accommodations to be clean and inviting. The owners were on the premises during my stay and was friendly and helpful. My family stayed in cabin 5 and it was clean and inviting to stay in, with my kids. The cabin was very clean and comfortable and I had a great time with my family. The view was awesome with a sandy beach. There were pamphlets and maps in the cabin which were helpful in locating other activities and finding my way around. I went to Pirate's Cove with my family and my vehicle broke down and was not able to be repaired until Monday and I had planned to leave on Saturday and was unable to due to my car situation. I worked very hard to take this trip, however I did not have additional funds to stay until Monday. When I discussed this with the owners they were very nice about letting me stay for two more days, without charging me, due to not having a booking for the cabin until the next week. I have never had any other company so respectful and understanding in an emergency situation. Thank you so much Paul and Len! I will be returning this year for a vacation in 2011!!

We are always hesitant when we book a new place site unseen, but we were PLEASANTLY surprised when we arrived.
We stayed in Rustic Cabin #4 - it was clean, mostly well maintained and perfect for the two of us + a small dog.
Keith and Theresa are on site at all times to assist with any requests, and Michelle was GREAT at the reservation process. Even helped us rent a pontoon when theirs was not available.
Will definately stay here again - great place for a family!

First we arrived in cabin 8 and everything looked great. But when we started to move in, we started realizing things most of the classes to drink out of where not washed. Our screen door would not lock. our TV took 1 minute to turn on and when it did all the colors were red.
You may do what you want, but I would suggest for you to save your money.

Cabins were hot and uncomfortable. We were told A/C was not needed because of the lake breezes. However, since none of the windows worked, we couldn't get a breeze. Lightbulbs were burned out in the kitchen. Floors were filthy. Well water smelled so bad I could barely wash the dishes without getting sick to my stomach. Do not stay here.

we rented the newer cabin and were unable to open windows due to no screens on them ...and it was 90 degrees during the day....we had to go out and purchase some fans in order to get some sleep...when we asked to be reimbursed they said we didn't leave the fans so too bad...and am still waiting for the 50.00 cleaning deposit they said they refund after you leave....the owners have no clue how to run a resort...for 1100.00 a week we expected much more....don't waste your time or money here......

We stayed in the large log cabin in August 2013. Check in time is at 4pm (which is a little late) and so we stopped at a beach on the way to Traverse City. We ended up arriving at the cabin at about 5:30pm. When we went to go into the cabin, there was a guy in there on his laptop who had clearly been staying there. He asked which cabin we were checking in to, and we said the one that he was sitting in. He said "are you sure?" Yes, it's the only cabin that looks like this and it's the most expensive one, we are sure. He goes and gets the property manager, Theresa, who we learn is his mom. She starts scrolling through her phone looking for our reservation because she didn't know that we were coming. I had made my reservation over the phone but they did email me a confirmation, so I pulled it up on my phone for her to see. *Bring proof of your cabin confirmation!*
We then had to wait an hour for them to clean it, so we went and waited down to the beach area of the property. Spider Lake is very nice and the beach area is clean, but it is TINY. There is only room for about 8 people on it. They do have kayaks on property that you can use for free so that was nice.
The large cabin is BEAUTIFUL. Very spacious and two full bathrooms which was very nice and we didn't run out of hot water. You can't see the water from the cabin because of trees, but it is nice to be away from the other cabins for privacy. There is a dumpster on property which is an attractant for wildlife so be careful. I would recommend that if you stay in this particular cabin you ask them to keep the garage closed because the garage has a door to the cabin.
Overall I was very happy with the cabin itself, and it's not too far from downtown Traverse City, so I would stay there again. Theresa was very apologetic and I did appreciate that she cared about our stay.

Cabin #9 is a fantastic place for a big group gathering. There were enough beds and a pull out couch to sleep 10 people. The log cabin is gorgeous and has a gigantic deck for outdoor entertaining. Just steps away from the shore of Spider lake, and about 20-25 minute drive from downtown Traverse City. The cabin has everything you need to enjoy a weekend or a week. You can even rent kayaks, paddle boards, or a pontoon boat! Absolutely loved it and plan to be back.

Just happen to be available, we got the number 8 cabin and got to watch the Spider Lake Drag Races that day. This cabin is warm and cozy, full kitchen and great internet on the entire property (I worked a little). I just visited recently and can say the furnishings and decorations have been recently updated. Place looks great!

Not knowing what to expect I was very grateful that I went! We had cabin number (9) the log cabin and I was gorgeous! defiantly going back! It was close to Traverse City. Near by Walmart and Meijer. They provided the basics, which is good when going with a large crowd!

"Choose cabins 5-9 if you want more upscale accommodations. Cabin nine is farther from the lake up the hill. All other cabins have a wonderful lake view."
"There are many cabins there all at diffrent rates.. The really nice cabin overlooking the resort would be awesome...but I know it has to be more expensive than Cabin 2. All of the cabins are unique, comfortable, clean, with full kitchens. I did some great cooking while living there!"
