We spent 4 days here as they switched from Winter activities to Summer, and had the place to ourselves. We essentially had a private pool, gym, and acres to walk around in. Staff at the restaurants were excellent, and the food at the Thistle was much better than hotels usually offer. Nice little trips to Manistee and Frankfort too. Everything was very clean, and our room at the Colony seems to have been recently updated.
Crystal Mountain was amazing. The employees were so friendly, helpful, and knowledgable. The facilities are high quality, clean, and luxurious. It was the best vacation during a pandemic, as well. They had excellent COVID-19 precautions - plenty of signage, mask requirements, capacity limits, added outdoor seating (tents and tables with heaters everywhere), and a large amount of food options even with COVID-19 restrictions (curbside pickup, takeout, delivery, and food trucks). Everything felt so safe. The ski/snowboard conditions were perfection - excellent snow, all trails available, and all lifts working. They even have plenty of activities for people who do not ski/snowboard such as cross country skiing, snowshoeing, fat tire biking, pool/hot tub, horse-draw surrey rides, and it is extremely kid-friendly. I have been going to Crystal Mountain for 20 years and it is always my favorite vacation and it is a top notch ski resort.…
We , as a family, have been to other ski areas in Michigan and beyond. For a midwest destination we feel Crystal Mtn. is the absolute best for a family ski trip. We have skiers of all abilities from experts to a beginner. The skiing itself is perfect for us all but the overall feeling of Crystal along with family type cottages to rent are what it's all about.
Wow I was not expecting the countless trails that were at Crystal Mountain. My family and I did go towards the end of the season so it was not as crowded, so I am not sure how it is when it’s very busy. I have more positive feelings than negative feelings of Crystal mountain. All the workers were very friendly, from the food service, lodging and lift workers. I will say the “crystal” part is spot on as it was very icy at times and hard to maneuver but since they make their own snow it was great to ride down! I personally snowboard and had lots of fun going down the great options of blue and black slopes. Loki and Norm’s Way were my favorite trails. I loved the night skiing and the fast chairlifts as well (trails aren’t that long). Had decent food and drink options near the slopes. Great place to learn how to ski or snowboard as you do not have to deal with conditions (altitude) of large mountains. This is nothing like the West of course but I would highly recommend going here for a long weekend with friends or family and enjoy the trails as they are quite enjoyable, especially for being in the Midwest!…
For so many reasons the mnagement at Chrystal is highly annoying. They are way too involved in a bad way and ruin the fun. Reminds me of high school prom. The new lift access system is dysfunctional. It was very poorly designed.. I would imagine visiting an inmate in prison would be a more enjoyable experience. Clearly someone convinced Chrystal that it would make them money. They didn’t consider how bad it would be for those paying. So, wrong point of view prevailed. Not sure how many people previously skied without paying, but we won’t be back. They have a whopping 8 Adirondack chairs for the many hundreds of skiers on the slopes. The experience here sucks. They have a couple of tents set up to eat in like a refugee. Don’t waste your money here! bitter sweet and Nubs are way better overall experiences in Michigan. Chrystal has lost their focus on hospitality, so I won’t waste several grand a year on them in the future.…
