My husband and I plus our dog camped at Van Buren State Park a couple weeks ago. We camped there a couple years ago and liked it so decided to go back. There are plenty of roomy sites with good shade at the park. We like to camp there because it is not so crowded. They have a nice beach and places to bike. Plus the Kal-Haven biking trail is close by. The restrooms-showers are clean and modern. The town of South Haven is close for camping supplies, restaurants and entertainment.

This is a nice state park. Having the beach and a sunset at the beach is terrific. Large, old trees provide much shade. There are only a few sites with a lot of sun. We go to Gingerman Raceway and decided to make a family vacation out of it. Twice so far. We live in Wisconsin.
There is some shopping downtown. St. Joseph has a lot to offer and is close by.

This is our favorite state park to camp. The sites are big and the restrooms are clean and the showers are wonderful. The camp hosts are always so nice and we love coming here year after year. We love that you can walk to the beach and we enjoy riding our bikes on the path from the campground to south haven. Just an all around wonderful place to stay.

Nuclear power plant next door. Tested emergency sirens twice. Once at 4:30am. The second morning must have been target practice with automatic weapons. Went on for a couple hours. This park is also close to the freeway. Constant road noise.

Family camping trip. Loved it there! We got site 44 close to the showers and restrooms and fully shaded. Pretty easy to back into the spot. They have a dog friendly beach, although we didn't bring our pups with us. It's beautiful there! Short drive to Walmart & Meijer if you forgot anything. Friendly people and nice place to stay, well kept up on, we will be back! :)

This park is on the free way which does not have a big beach. There're big paved parking area and paved road to the beach. There're also playground for kids, small picnic area under the big tree, new restroom. The beach was narrow with lots of shade.

I have stayed at the Van Buren State Park several times. This time I stayed for a full week instead of just a weekend. It's always enjoyable and I love that it's so close to the beach. One bit of advice is to bring water shoes as the beach is very rocky. There are playgrounds for the kids and the park office rents bicycles.

Just day trip for us. Playground, restroom facilities and lots of parking! Beautiful beach surrounded by dunes. Paved walk to beach, sand, then rocks at water's edge. Camping at park and flag to warn of condition changed from green to yellow due to winds while we were there.

We camped here for 1 night in a motorhome. The park is huge and has many camping sites, many under trees. They mix tents among the RV's, which made it interesting to walk around. My only complaints were that the smoke from all the campfires was overwhelming and there were inadequate showers. There was a long line and a long wait. The showers and toilet area are separated, with men and women using the same showers. Each shower was private with a separate entrance. Overall, the park is very nice, with picnic areas, play grounds and right next to the beach.
