We stayed here last year over July 4th weekend. And we are coming back 2022. Very nice owners and the bathrooms are very very clean. The only place we have had shower rooms separate from restrooms. This place is a open field, but trees are planted and this year they have sewer. Would recommend.

I'm writing this review at 1215 am from my tent. A large 10+ group is disrupting the entire tent area. Loud talking, music. Much drinking. Second night like this. The owner should have made a round to check at the 11 pm start of quiet time. The camp is also near two very busy roads and there is constant noise of engines. The camp is very clean but for us ruined due to lack of monitoring quiet hours. Probably will never return.

Response from Robert Kempton, Owner at Kal-Haven Outpost
Responded Aug 16, 2021
Hi, We appreciate your feedback and will keep these things in mind for the future. We apologize you had a bad experience here and wish it would have been better. While we did do a quite hours check at 11pm and also at 12:30am (in response to someone calling about another group using a power tool, got that taken care of!). We unfortunately cannot catch everything and have a phone system set up where we will respond quickly if we are notified, which did not ring other than for the one complaint that was quickly handled. While there is a typical country road at the entrance to the property, most tent sites are around 1/4mile from there with lots of woods/farms in-between. Thus any traffic that you may have heard was likely from other campers going to and from their sites on one of our busiest weekends of the year (National Blueberry Festival) or the occasional vehicle with an obnoxiously loud exhaust driving past the entrance. Again, we apologize for your experience here and truly wish it had been better.

This was the perfect location to allow us to include the entire family in an outdoor experience like the ones I had as a kid and the ones that our kids had when they were little. My parents who are now 80ish stayed in a couple’s cabin, our 30ish kids camped in their childhood tent and my husband and I were in the same campsite in a new tent. I haven’t stood at the end of a picnic table washing dishes with my mom in probably 20 years – a new memory to add to the old ones. Proximity to the bike trail is great. The owners are very accommodating. We have an electric Chevy Bolt so they made sure to put my folks in an end cabin so we could charge it. And we’ve already been back! We came with non-camper friends who also enjoyed the couple’s cabin and the camping experience without having to sleep in a tent. Don’t forget – July is blueberry picking season and there a several places nearby.

This is a really nice little campground! It's relatively new, but a great deal of thought and planning has gone into it. Pull through sites, clean bathrooms and showers, nice playground, cute office, and more. They have cabins, primitives, and electric and water sites. A lot of space for the kids to ride their bikes in the campground, and next to the Kal-Haven trail. Walk or ride your bike right into South Haven and to the lake. I can see myself coming back here for many years to come.

Perfect location, great place to relax and enjoy the outdoors. Hosts were really friendly and clearly enjoy what they do. Not too far from South Haven, but with the wooded surrounds it feels well off the beaten track!

Visited this place as a couple and stayed in one of the tiny home cabins. We LOVED it! The couple working were both incredibly nice and made us feel very welcome. If you’re thinking about staying in a hotel over this place, don’t! The shower facilities were cleaned daily too. We will be back again, probably many times.
