Firstly the owner is really friendly and the place has a really nice old style early 1900's atmosphere. There is absolutely nothing I think can be improved upon and added to this the location is great. I also really enjoyed the breakfasts. We would, without hesitation, stay here again.
We have been taking a break at Twin Oaks for many years and were delighted to meet the new owners this summer. Twin Oaks just keeps getting better and better but the best things stay the same: it's walkable to all the restaurants and attractions of Saugatuck, the food is delightful, the off street parking is safe and plentiful, the hospitality and cleanliness are first class. We will always return to Twin Oaks!
We always stayed on the weekend of the Venetian Festival to celebrate our wedding anniversary. When I didn't get any message from Sherry, I tried calling. My Phone call was re-directed to Molly, who I found out was the new owner as of April. You just can't know how upset and disappointed I was to find out we didn't have our usual reservations. Ok, so they are new owners, but, was it because the original owners gave us a discount, each time we returned, and the new owners didn't want to honor that? Not sure, just know that I am heartbroken, and our trip to Saugatuck for our anniversary, will never be the same!
The owner was extremely friendly and accommodating - even giving us her cell phone number in case there were any problems. It's a beautiful and well maintained home just a block from the main shopping street and two blocks from the waterfront. Our room was comfortable and very clean with tasteful furnishings, and breakfast was excellent. We would be happy to stay here again.
Ten year anniversary trip - we have stayed at many B&Bs and would not travel back to this one. Expected better based on previous reviews. The innkeepers - Very friendly. They work hard and take pride in this place. The Inn - The patio was the best part of the Inn. Very relaxing. Would be nice to have a variety of games and books to explore on a rainy day. The welcome tour included several rules - including instructing us to use the dark colored wash cloth to remove makeup. There was also a sign on the washcloth noting such. We were afraid we were going to get in trouble if we got a towel dirty. Also, not enough towels. Location - great for walking to all that Saugatuk has to offer. Easy parking, but half the lot was susceptible to flooding when it rains so we were asked to move our car. The Room - We stayed in Ghent which is at the top of the stairs and did not feel private due to hallway / stair traffic and the head of the bed being right by the door. There was little room for our bags. Not enough hangers. The jetted tub was small. The hair dryer would only run for one minute at a time and turn off on its own. Breakfast - Served at a specific time which is kind of a bummer on vacation. Beautifully plated and filling but in general, carb and sugar heavy. They do cater to allergies and special diets which we do not have, but we would have preferred more protein and veggie based meal. Would not recommend for celebrating a special occasion. The Inn made no mention or congratulations for our anniversary. Will look elsewhere next time.…
