Charming place with wonderful staff in the heart of Saugatuck
I took my mother here for a weekend getaway. This place was so charming and historic. I t is in the heart of downtown Saugatuck and easy walking distance to all the shops and restaurants. My mother has a hard time walking long distances so this was a perfect location so she could get to everywhere we needed. The place is very clean and the staff is super friendly. The breakfast is absolutely amazing and delicious. Parking is directly across the street which made it very convenient. We loved this place so much and I would highly recommend it to anyone going to this area.

    Charming Boutique Hotel
We stayed at the Maplewood Hotel while traveling to Saugatuck for a wedding at the nearby Felt Estate. We were greeted by the attentive and friendly staff who had our reserved room ready nearly three hours before the stated check in! From the hotel’s beautiful decor, the cleanliness and comfort of each room, and the delicious breakfast, served on china in the dining room or sun porch, we enjoyed every thoughtful detail of this charming inn. Located in the heart of the unique downtown area of Saugatuck, we were able to walk to the plentiful shops and restaurants from the Maplewood’s front door. It’s obvious that the owner and staff of the Maplewood put the comfort and care of their guests at the top of their priority list. We highly recommend this beautiful hotel to anyone who desires a memorable stay in Saugatuck!

    Best of the very best!
My sister in law and I stayed 6 nights. We were well taken care of from the moment we walked in. We had room 209. It was upstairs and beautifully decorated with antique queen and twin beds. Room had a gas fireplace and comfy seating. So, the room was fantastic. But, the staff made the trip a 100% win. Clarice is the hands on from the time you get there. The owner, Catherine, bought Maplewood 31 years ago. She knocked down walls and made the rooms huge, some rooms have beautiful bath rubs and king size beds. There is an outdoor pool with gazebo for relaxing. I spent a lot of time on the patio reading with coffee. The breakfast was fantastic, you start with orange juice and coffee, a plate of fresh fruit, yogurt and a slice of danish, then a hot plate of eggs, bacon or quiche or eggs benedict strada. Can't say enough about how wonderful I thought the place is! If I could give it 10 starts, I would.

I would rate 4.5 if an option. Great location. In town but still quiet. House is very nice...fully restored. Friendly staff, nice breakfast...even the water pressure was better than expected. Not inexpensive, but worth it.

The Maplewood Hotel could be described as a B&B or a boutique hotel. It is welcoming, clean, and super convenient to everything in the heart of town. Breakfasts are yummy, especially the blueberry pancakes! We would happily return for another stay.

This is a very old hotel that isn't comfortable for the price. The room didn't even have a TV but rather a small monitor! There were only 2 small lights for a dark room. The bed mattress has old and worn. The pillows old and hard. The shower had mold. The quiche served for breakfast was terrible. I had to write bad reviews, but I wouldn't stay there ever!

Appreciate the caring nature of the owner when we had a medical issue. Also, really appreciated the staff’s attentiveness and pleasant demeanors. Would recommend selecting one of the larger rooms for your visit.

This was once one of the two nicest B&B in town. ButCOVID and the passing years have taken their toll on the old girl, making her almost crotchety. In our small room, the bathroom door wouldn’t stay closed if you just used the knob, instead you had to push high on the door. The entry door was similar, had to turn the lock to keep it closed. The window AC stuck in the wall didn’t work. You could hear the compressor kick on but after about a half hour, every 15 minutes it would make a deep whistling noise kind of like the horn on a tug boat or a tone alarm. It had been hot in Michigan the prior 2 weeks, surely someone complained. This was a cooler evening so I opened the windows, the pics show that haven’t been cleaned for some time. Yes, the hotel industry tells us COVID has ended travel stay with us. But then they tell you we’re not cleaning rooms daily because of Covid and breakfast now yogurt or a roll. But the rates keep climbing. Speaking of cleaning, that one picture is a dirty a-tip left on the bathroom guest by a prior guest.

My husband and I came to Saugatuck for a weekend away. We wanted a small bed and breakfast type place to stay and The Maplewood didn't disappoint. It's a very lovely remodeled old home. Our room was a nice size and the bed was very comfy. The breakfasts here are absolutely amazing!!! Saugatuck is a beautiful small town with lots of shopping, eating, beaches, etc. The flowers outside the businesses and the landscaping around town were gorgeous.

Lovely antiques make this a pretty setting thruout downstairs. Rooms are small and small bathrooms with no updates. Quiet. Nice breakfast. Located within walking to all shopping, gazebo, chain ferry, park and a few nice restaurants (Phil’s).
