Hotel is the best option in the area. Perfect views of Lake Michigan. Minutes from downtown St. Joseph. The room was spacious. Bed linens were soft. Mattress was comfortable. Several pillow options. Room was clean. Shower pressure good. Mini fridge was appreciated. Decent soundproofing as there were children staying on the floor, but only one time were they heard throughout our 3 night stay. Friendly staff.,
Great location and friendly staff! From check in to check out. Very helpful and knowledgeable about the area. The room was very good and clean and the layout was nice. I like complementary shampoo conditioner and body wash. Not my kind but it was nice to know if I needed some it was available.
We stayed here for a 5 night family getaway with the 3 kids. We had reservations at another hotel in town and changed to this hotel at the last minute to save some money. Boy was that a mistake. First of all, there were a few staff members that were very nice, but I didn't get names. One was the lady who check us in, one was the young man that worked the breakfast bar, another was a janitorial worker who always saod hello,, and the last was a woman from housekeeping that my daughter told her she loved her hair. We checked in, turned the ac down and unpacked out luggage. After 20 minutes or so the room was not cooling down and it was very humid in the room. So down I went to let the front desk know. They switched our room, which menat we had to repack and relocate everything. It was annoying but we were thankful that they had an extra room. The room was not as clean as it should have been. There were long black hairs on the shower curtain, lots of dust on the flat surfaces, dead flies on window sills, and a pink stain on the top cover sheet. There were many outlets that did not work. We had to unplug the microwave to use the outlet to charge our electronics, and then unplug the charger to plug in the microwave to use it. Other bottom outlets also did not work, but had a lamp plugged into them, so we'd have to choose between lights or charger. The door hinges were loose, to where the door would not shut unless you lifted it up at the handle. We had continued issues with our keycards not working. We'd go down to the front desk each time to rekey our card until the last time when nothing worked. They finally called maintenance to find out it was a dead battery. The times we visited the pool there were never towels. So off to the front desk for them to replenish the towels. The hotel uses refillable shampoo, conditioner and body wash, which is great, until you run out the first night. Guess where I headed off to? Yep, the front desk. I told the gentleman they were out and he gave me a small single use shampoo and conditioner for 5 of us. I know this isn't the hotels fault but there were young kids and teens running the halls after 11:30pm playing hide-and-seek. Our room butted up to the elevator so we'd hear them over and over and over. I'm all for kids having fun, but come on parents, control your kids. The pool closes at 11 pm for a reason. Overall, this just wasn't the way we are used to a Holiday Inn Express to be. Even coming and going the front desk never acknowledged you, and when we checked out the gentleman never asked how our stay was. I hate giving negative reviews, but I will not be back to this Holiday Inn when I visit again next year. …
They checked us into a dirty room. The desk guy was very nice and helpful and apologetic about it. We were immediately given a new room. The pool and hot tub had way too much chlorine in them. It was hard to even stay on the pool deck. The views from across the street, very short wall, were awesome.
