My significant other and I stayed at the South Cliff Inn because we were attending a wedding in town. The Inn exceeded my expectations by far! The Inn itself was not too difficult to find and was located very close to Silver Beach and other places of interest. The owners, Will and Brandy, were both very friendly and helpful people. They were very accommodating to our requests and needs during our stay. If we had any questions, someone was always available to provide an answer. Brandy's niece also worked there and helped us when we needed. Overall, the staff did their best to make sure we felt comfortable and welcome in their bed and breakfast. The breakfast itself was very tasty. There was a good combination of both sweet and savory foods available and the selection varied on both days that we were there. It was also nice that there was coffee, pop, water and some snacks available at all times. We were not able to particpate in the happy hour but it seemed like there was a good selection of meat, cheese and wine available to the guests - the other guests that attended had good things to say about it. The landscaping in the backyard was very well done (I believe it was done by Will himself) and there was a nice view of the lake from the back patio. The hot tub, which you can help yourself to during your stay, was a nice touch. The room/bathroom was clean and I enjoyed the a beachy decor in the house. The rooms were cleaned / made up each day, which was nice given that it is a bed and breakfast and not a hotel. We had a very positive and memorable experience at the South Cliff Inn. Thank you again Will and Brandy!

We LOVED this Bed and Breakfast! The location is perfect and has multiple spots to enjoy the beautiful views of Lake Michigan - including a hot tub for guests’ use. We enjoyed sitting on the deck and watching the sunset. The hosts were extremely welcoming and hospitable. Breakfast was delicious each morning, and we enjoyed happy hour in the afternoons. We will definitely be back!

We stayed two nights at South Cliff Inn. We loved that it was walking distance to downtown St. Joe. The breakfasts were amazing. We could have stayed another day just for breakfast! We were in the Manor Room. The bed was fine and there were plenty of pillows. You could definitely hear some street noise, but we rarely heard other guests. The happy hour was nice. Our friends had 2 other rooms, so we liked being able to relax in the front and dining rooms as a group. The backyard was beautiful. If it was warmer outside, we would have taken advantage. We’d definitely come back for another friends’ trip.

My bride and I were married on the beach in nearby South Haven and did not want to spend our special evening in a traditional hotel. We were hoping to find something more low-key, quiet and romantic. We did! The South Cliff Inn. From the moment we arrived, we were greated with the highest level of warmth and hospitality. Both owners were exceptionally welcoming and went above and beyond to recognize our special day, even delivering a bottle of champagne to our room without being requested as a gift of congratulations. They are very warm people and were a joy to spend time with. The property backs right up to the lake with a stunning elevated view and the grounds are immaculate! If it is peace and quiet you want....the back yard deck overlooking the lake is the place. We relaxed there with drinks, then retired to cuddle in the perfectly placed hammock which is perfect for a nap as you enjoy the fresh lake breeze. The house was very clean and our room very cozy, clean and comfortable (The Sunshine Room I believe). It was a comfortable and quiet place for the perfect night, we could not have chosen a better place to begin our honeymoon. We did not stay for breakfast as we left early to catch out flight, Be we did enjoy delicious happy hour appetizers and drinks and beverages were always available. I cannot thank the owners enough for accommodating us and making us feel welcome. From two people who work for one of the worlds top travel companies.....we know great hospitality when we see it, and you certainly have set the standard! We will be back! 😊

Returning to stay at the SCI on this first weekend of autumn 2018 was a last-minute effort on my part but getting info on availability and talking to Will—one of the new owners—was not an issue. I was able to get my reservation confirmed with my questions answered immediately, and I was headed in later in the week. I booked the Sunset, which is a spacious second-story room with a nicely-sized balcony overlooking Lake Michigan, king bed (comfy and pillows to die for!) and large bathroom with a garden tub and shower. I wasn’t disappointed. Quiet, comfortable and a generously-sized closet and fireplace, too. I spent a lot of time at the B&B sense I needed some chill time and had a lot of reading to do. I often fetched takeout to enjoy back on the balcony and enjoyed early morning coffee with a book in the dining room, on one of the several spacious decks or the patio before breakfast was ready, courtesy of the Keurig that was poised to offer up a cup of coffee any time of day. If you’re a late riser and appreciate not having any noise from other guests or the kitchen to contend with, you’re in luck—breakfast is prepared with attention to those details and is served with care a little on the later side, I found between 9:30-10:00AM. (I stayed two nights.) Will presented guests with a terrific egg dish, sausage, a not-too-sweet baked treat, fresh fruit and juice on one morning, and the second morning included that + a baked berry croissant casserole and a very yummy baked oatmeal. I was disappointed to read a couple of previous reviews that compared breakfast to that offered at a Hampton Inn (not true, and I travel a lot!), snacks that weren’t up to par (I did see what was offered on one evening, and it looked great though I was full from a late lunch and already had a glass of wine on hand) and some other persnickety comments about things that needed fixing, etc. Though no place is dead-on perfect, it’s clear that the hosts at SCI strive for excellence on a daily basis. If those guests weren’t happy, I hope they gave the hosts or staff the courtesy of telling them in person. Brandy and Will are gracious hosts who have built on the hospitable reputation of the previous owners and the end of this year will make the first under their belt. The upgrades and improvements that have been made to the Inn did not go on noticed. Want a tended-to but not hovered-over experience? Looking to relax, read, spend time alone or with your travel mates? Don’t be reluctant to book a stay here. If you’re not totally keen on the B&B experience because the idea of having to converse at length with other guests makes you uncomfortable, this would be a great place to get your feet wet. There’s plenty of space to dine—you can even go out to a table on the deck if you need some personal space. And, Brandy and Will have the art of leading a lively conversation during breakfast. I’m sorry that I didn’t get more pictures of the Inn, I was too busy relaxing. I got the experience I was seeking—I’m refreshed, happy and relaxed—and would stay again.
