Detailed Reviews
Arrived at St.Ignace with reservations at the Baymont (next door), it was probably the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. We immediately went over to the Bavarian Haus and explained to them the issues we had with the Baymont. They immediately booked us for the next day as they were booked for that night. The rooms were super clean, they had a very nice beach with a fire pit, full size swimming pool, 2 whirlpools and a sauna, free kayaks, and other several things to do on their beach front property and they were $75 cheaper than the baymont. They are only 1 mile from town. Staff is friendly and courteous! This is a great place to stay!

The Desk clerk was very helpful with direct booking and upon check in, cheerful and efficient. Even though it's an older hotel, rooms were updated, very clean with everything needed for a comfortable stay. Microwaves are available in the dining area and on the 2nd floor; the refrigerator is in the room. If you choose to use the steps instead of the elevator, they're lower, easier to climb and not many between floors. The room was spacious and quiet. The balcony over looked the lake and with the window open at night, the waves will lull you to sleep. Although I didn't use them, kayaks, lounge chairs and hammocks on the beach are complimentary. They also offer volley ball, sun decks, firepits and playgrounds. The toilet seat was loose and not properly attached, but the maintenance man responded within five minutes and apologized. When I dropped my small earring down the sink drain, right before checking out, the desk clerk acted on it immediately, contacting maintenance. However I had to leave before they could work on it. I requested that if they found it to please mail it to me. Three days later I received the earring in the mail, along with two coupon cards and a nice thank you letter for staying there. They went over and above to deal with that issue even though that was of my own making.

Older beachfront hotel, all the rooms are beachfront with beautiful views of Lake Huron. There's fire pits on the beach(you bring wood) and a playground for the kids. Beds were comfortable and room carpets feel clean, room cleanliness varies, 1st time staying the room was spotless, this time floor obviously hadn't been vacuumed. Pool, hot tubs, and breakfast not open due to Covid.

We arrived to the barvarian haus on a Thursday evening St Ignace.
The hotel is definitely dated.
The positive is the location it’s right on the lakefront and only a mile away from the ferry docks. The room is large and has a fridge. The beds were comfortable and the sheets were clean. The best part is the lakefront view with a patio or balcony.
The pool is large there are two hot tubs available for use as well as a sauna. The front desk personnel are very nice and friendly. You also get free firework show on Saturday night and can view them right from your room.
The negatives I am mentioning are purely from observation. This place has real potential. The wi fi was spotty. Our room had tv but the cable didn’t work. The latches to our patio door didn’t lock and there was only a bar to secure the door. The patio needs pressure washing and window cleaning.
The pool area needed some tlc the water was cloudy and the PH was off. The hot tub was a nice temp but there was foam floating like someone put soap in it.
The lake area is covered with bird droppings and feathers most likely from the seagulls.
The breakfast was small I didn’t eat it but they have a few things to choose from.
Overall, this was just a base for my family and I to visit Mackinac and the UP. We barely spent time in the room. However, I believe if this property put some elbow grease into this place it could be amazing!

Stayed here with my boyfriend on a 3 day/2 night stopover in the St Ignace area, during a road trip out west.
Staff was super friendly and check-in was easy. Room had two queen beds, a patio, and the sink was outside the bathroom. More than enough room to move around. There was also a mini fridge and flat screen TV. Beds were comfortable, and we slept well both nights.
The view of the lake from the 2nd floor is breathtaking, and there's nothing like falling asleep to the sound of lapping waves. Just keep your screen door closed or you never know what will fly into your room at night! By the lake, there are seats, hammocks, and a little BBQ patio.
There is an indoor pool, 2 jacuzzis, and a sauna available on the premises. They have a game room too, but didn't get to check it out this stay.
Plenty of parking available, and they have snacks, water and amenities available for sale in the front desk area. They also sold tickets to the Shepler Ferry to Mackinac Island at s small discount. Lots of food options around the area, as well, including a few pasty shops.
Less one star because they don't clean the rooms until you check out (though I'm not sure if its because of the COVID-19 pandemic). And we didn't get a chance to rent a kayak, so I can't speak to that process.
Overall, comfortable stay and pretty location, would definitely return!

Thank you Christine for your review. We are happy you enjoyed your stay. Indeed, we do normally clean rooms that stay for more than one day. Due to the Covid, we are not allowed to enter any room that is occupied as a stay over. Also, we are not allowed to serve our breakfast bar due to health department guidelines. We do hope to see you the next time you are in the area. Enjoy the rest of your summer.

Stayed here for 4 nights while we explored the UP. It is an older hotel but the room was clean and the beds were comfortable. Due to COVID they were not serving the continental breakfast or cleaning your room during our stay. They did have breakfast bars and cans of juice at the front desk whenever you wanted and could ask for new towels if needed. Pools and hot tubs were open for use. Free kayaks for use on a first come first serve basis, with small playscapes, hammocks, and fire pits also available.
The only thing I didn't like was there wasn't any security at the doors. Anyone could just walk in. Also, when I said the hotel was older I wasn't kidding. When you check in you get actual keys on a keychain. Haven't seen this in a hotel in a long time! WIFI was good throughout most the day. A little slow after 9:00pm when everyone is using it.

Loved this place. Staff is friendly. Our room walked right out to the beach area with its fire pit areas with lots of seating and game areas and kayaks , that are free for guests to use. It's not fancy but is very clean. You see families here and couples, young and old alike. All the rooms have porches or balconies to sit on and relax and enjoy this wonderful view of Lake Huron and Mackinac Island. Breakfast was your standard with eggs and sausage, pancake maker, bagels, cereal, juices, milk and coffee.

The location of this hotel is fantastic. It's right on the shores of Lake Huron. There is a little beach right there, multiple fire pits. Some rooms have balconies overlooking the water with chairs outside to sit. It is a great location. We walked to the ferry's that take you to the island. The problem is the actual rooms. They are so outdated. Your paying almost $300 a night for an old, outdated room. Mustard yellow bathroom fixtures, gold wallpaper. The blow dryer is from the 60's and so is the room a/c. It is literally flip buttons with no thermostat. It would just shut off randomly for no reason. The cold wasn't cold and would only move to fan after it shut off. There are some updates that need to be done. For the price you could of spent $40 more a night and been at the updated Holiday Inn down the road which is also on the water.

Lovely and cleaner than more expensive hotels I've been to. Every room is a lake view, upper floors have balconies, 1st floor all have walkouts with access to the beach. Fire pits, play ground, hammocks, yard games, grills and picnic tables as well as free kayaking for guests. We had a 3 night stay and were there for there motorcycle rally. It rained while we were there and the staff put towels on the handle bars of the bikes in the lot. Very customer centric. We will definitely be staying again on a future trip!

Not sure as we stayed there when ferries weren’t running yet
Whether or not you can see the Northern Lights from any location depends on many things, not just how far north one is. That being said, if the Northern Lights would happen to be visible at that latitude and longitude, it would be a fantastic place to view them.
The shuttle services to Casino and Ferry Docks are free.
No we don't. Jose's Cantina is adjacent. They serve cocktails and will be open om Mothers Day. You may also take a complimentary shuttle to the local casino.
Don't know. If it was me I could just call the hotel. They are very accommodating.
