Went to Budget Host In St. Ignace like we have for the last 4 years for our Tractor Crossing except for last year it was cancelled. The Hot tub was closed, the swimming pool was chemically over dosed and had a strong smell and hard to get out of our suits even though we soaked them. The key card to get into the building wouldn't work, and we got a different room with no balcony even though we reserved the room a year in advance. The bed was terrible and you couldn't sleep on it. Talked to the manager (Linda) to see what could be done or any discounts given since so many things didn't work and were broke and we couldn't get our room moved to the one we had reserved a year in advance and she would do nothing or accommodate us or apologize for all the problems we had encountered while we were there. She was very smart and rude talking to me and lacked people skills. They have a new owner that is foreign and I even talked to him but he did not offer any help or accommodations either. This place has went down hill with new ownership and would not recommend anybody staying there.

We used this hotel as a base for our day trip to Mackinac Island. Location can't be beat. It is a couple minute walk to Shepler's Ferry. Hint - we purchased our ferry tickets a day in advance on-line and it made life so much easier. We woke at 7:30, showered, ate breakfast, walked the dog and were on the 8:30 AM ferry. Walking distance to restaurants, an ice cream shop, gift shops and a Dollar Store. The room itself was very clean. It had a great shower although the shower head could have been a bit higher for us tall folk. The staff was efficient. Due to COVID they did not come into the room at all during our stay but that was fine with us. The bed was comfortable. They did inspect the room for pet damage before we left but that was not an issue for us. We had a lovely little balcony that overlooked the parking lot and Lake Huron and Mackinac Island across the street. We had BC Pizza delivered to the room and planned to eat on the balcony but no luck - heavy rain. The following day, we planned to dine on Mackinac Island but again, heavy rain, so we returned to the hotel and got pasties from Lehto's next door and ate in the room. Both pizza and pasties were good! Next day, so foggy that we could not see the Island. FYI - the ferry sounds a horn when it reaches the dock which you can hear in the room.

I was a bit worried when I booked our room, but there weren't many rooms left in St Ignace. Once we got there and got to our room I realized I was worried for no reason! This is a nice place, it's been updated, it's clean and they have a good hot breakfast included. The beds were comfortable, but I wash they had feather instead of foam pillows. The staff is average, not overly friendly, but not rude either. But we had very little interaction with them. The room had a king bed and was spacious for what it is. It was a little odd that the room had access from both the parking lot and an interior hallway. My guess is this was an old motel that had an addition added and was modernized, but regardless it's still nice. The location is good, right on the main road and across from the water and very close to the docks to get the ferry over to Mackinaw Island. In the back of the property, there is an area where you can park if you are towing a trailer with your motorcycles, boat, etc. Give this place a chance and I'm sure you'll have a good stay.

My family stayed here Memorial Day weekend. Check in was fast. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. It’s an older hotel but very nice. Pool was decent. Grab and go breakfast was good. The view from the balcony was nice. We walked across the street along the lake. We walked all the way to the lighthouse. Also visited some shops and brought back BC pizza. I would definitely stay here again.

I have stayed here several times over the years, it is the only place I will stay when I visit the area. I’m always so impressed how CLEAN the rooms are . Other motels could take a lesson from there cleaning staff !! The rooms also have a refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker in them
