Loved my king bear themed room, very comfortable. It didn't feel like a hotel room. Owner was great. Nice little patio by the office. Convenient store right next door. Restaurants 2 min drive from here. Bathroom could use a little bit more lighting as when you are in shower its pretty dark. Otherwise would definitely stay here again and recommend this place.

Easily accessible location with more than enough privacy for outside family gatherings in the evenings after a busy day of exploring the upper peninsula. Our party consisted of 26 family members in 6 of the rooms plus the cottage. What a great family experience, which would have not been the same in any other location. The management went above and beyond providing tables, chairs, and campfire ring for us. The rooms were quite unique, very clean and comfortable. We had car trouble 15 minutes before reaching the inn and did reach our destination. The management located a place where we could take our car for repairs the next day. We all had such a positive experience and would all agree to come back again some day.

Pros: It was forest themed and kind of a quirky, something-different place to stay. Snacks were set out in case we were hungry. Check in & check out was quick and easy. Parking was excellent & right next to our room. It was close to the strip downtown, not quite within walking distance, maybe a 3 - 5 minute drive. Cons: This was not a clean place. Walls around the bed had what looked like years of dirt & dust around them. I might not have noticed, but the lamp on the bed wasn't plugged in and I was looking for an outlet. The bathroom also had accumulated dust around the mirror and towel stand. Overall, even though it was a quirky little room, it's still a motel and was overpriced for what it was.

Thank you for the Pros on your review. As for the Cons, we are sorry that you found some dust back behind the bed. Your photo shows a tree branch that is the base board along the wall. We did go in after reading your post and re-checked to make sure everything is clean. We take a lot of pride and work really hard on our business. We do try to keep everything clean, but we also know sometimes things may get overlooked. We have no problem fixing any issues immediately. This room is scheduled to be updated soon. Just like our other updated rooms, we will be removing all carpet and installing laminate flooring

We spent 2 night at The Bear Cove Inn. Bob & Elaine were so nice & really do a great job of making sure their guests are comfortable. We enjoyed sitting on the patio with Bob and learning a lot of history about St Ignace & Mackinac Island from Bob. It was so convenient for the shuttle to come pick us up at the motel and bring us to catch the ferry to the Island. We will definitely stay again if we are ever in the area!

We saved the best for last. This was the last stay on our UP Tour. And it was by far the best. This is a modest motel built over 50 years ago that has transformed itself into a fun, fantasy location. Each of the rooms is themed with a forest or animal theme. Our friends, stayed in the Bear Room. It has a bear theme replete with a stuffed bear perched in a tree branch. Ours is the Forest Room. Wow! What a room. They‘ve transformed a regular, older motel room into a fantasy room. Our room had a forest theme with branches and tree trunks all over the room and forest wall paper. There’s a small seating area, a queen bed with ‘shelves’ for water and CPAP, a ladder to get into the high bed and corner seating area in one corner. There’s a microwave/fridge unit in another corner.
