This little gem of a motel was the perfect overnight stay for my husband and I before heading to Mackinac island. Clean, cozy and unique rooms. Loved the forest theme! I’m always looking for locally owned restaurants and hotels when traveling and really love coming across special places like Bear Cove Inn. I appreciate how all the details were thought out to make each room different. The coffee mugs in our room even looked like little owls- so darn cute! The price was right and we would 10/10 recommend!
This is certainly a quirky spot that beats any chain hotel stay. Elaine, the owner, is very friendly and knowledgeable of the local area. The room was very clean and it was obvious they put a great deal of money into designing and remodeling these rooms. Small touches go a long way. The tiled shower with stones, heat/massage chair, large flat screen, recessed lighting, and interesting decor all made for a wonderful experience. Quick drive to downtown or the casino. Highly recommend!
This is one of the most unique and cozy motels I’ve ever seen. And is now one of my favorites. Everything was clean and well thought out. We stayed in the Bear Den room with a king size bed. So well themed with bear decor! The owners make great use of the space with shelves. And the bed was very comfortable. Good location too. Close to town but away from the crowds. We also could walk down to Lake Huron for a great view of Mackinac Island. We enjoyed our stay!
Stayed here on a short trip to the U.P. and happy to say we had a great experience. My wife and I had the eagle room, and our friend had the forest room. Both were clean, everything was in good repair (furnishings looked new), and the decor was just plain fun. There were nice touches in the room, and the bed was comfortable. The very nice lady at check-in offered some great info about local restaurants and the ferry service. She was very thorough in explaining all the rules (I got the feeling she doesn't take guff from anyone), and we were pleased to learn that she doesn't tolerate unruliness from her guests. No smoking, no drugs, etc. It's apparent that she reads and responds to reviews here on TA, so, if I may be so bold, I would suggest that housekeeping run a vacuum attachment over the ceiling vent in the bathroom of the eagle room as there was a layer of dust on it (it happens). I also found a few black hairs in the bed on the sheets, but given how clean everything was, I'm sure it landed there while making the bed....I have no doubt that the sheets were clean and had been changed since the last guest. As far as locations go, it's ideal. It's just far enough from town that it's nice and quiet, and it's about a three minute walk to the lake. There's a small store right next door that sells breakfast sandwiches, snacks, etc., and it's just down the road from Castle Rock. Overall, we had a very positive experience and would have no problem returning for another stay.…
Husband and I needed to get out of the house for the day so we headed across the bridge. Did a little geocaching then checked into the inn. Ohhh my gosh a really cute room. Very updated the massage chair to dye for(now my husband want one) it is his birthday on the 27th so no he isn't maybe Christmas. The wifi is very good. Outlets are easy to get to for charging our stuff. The room is on the small side but for us two I would saw cozy. The only bad thing is that a lot of stuff are closed like the casino but we knew that before we headed up. When in doubt stay here for the money it is worth it. And you get free snacks.
