What an idyllic, rustic cottage, with glassed in backroom with slow combustion heater & a late afternoon view of 100 kangaroos within 200 metres. First thing in the morning the roos were within the "backyard", metres away. Forget your 5 star accommodation... this is what it's really all about. Good walks (one hundred metres down the hill you stare at... More

The retreats were everything we needed for a wonderful weekend escape. The design and practicability of the units was superb so that all the visuals are concentrated on the beautiful native vegetation at your doorstep. You could sit all day reading or looking out at the trees and yakkas. The misty rain and fog was magical. Bedrooms were very quiet... More

We really appreciate you taking the time to write a review on your stay with us. In the early design process we wanted to create a space where guests could still enjoy being surrounded by native vegetation even on cold & rainy days, your review shows that we achieved one of our objectives. We were so glad to hear you... More

We stayed at number 3 last weekend over 2 nights. The accommodation is great in a bush setting. Fire and wood was terrific. Quite an expensive daily rate of $250 per night for two adults and a child which is fine but you expect top class service for that price. The surge protector broke on the second evening for an... Dear Matthew Power failures are a nuisance but as most people would understand are out of our control. During the past few months our state has experienced a pretty wild winter with strong winds, heavy rains and frequent power outages. After repeated power surges this culminated in the RCD switch in the circuit board at your cottage tripping and not... More

Recently stayed in Retreat 1 and did some amazing walking/climbing/scrambling at Deep Creek !! The design and layout of our Retreat was amazing, view of natural bushland "to die for". Breakfast provisions more than adequate. Loved having the wood burning fire each evening, very cosy indeed. Lots of beautiful birds and wildlife generally. It was actually quite refreshing to be... We stayed in ridge top retreat #3 and really enjoyed our stay. You're surrounded by the forest and it's very serene and beautiful. The accommodation was clean and modern with a beautiful fire place (wood is provided). Large glass windows in the lounge area and bedroom. The kitchen is full self contained and we had everything we needed (yes you... More

We visited the Ridgetop retreats for 3 nights while in South Australia for the Tour Down Under. It was well located to the bike racing in Victor Harbor and Maclaren Vale. The accommodation was outstanding - beautifully designed and comfortable. We we with our two young children and we so please to see that the owners had gone to the... More

My Wife and I stayed in No1 Villa and had a wonderfully relaxing couple of days. The architectural design is first class and the big picture windows provide a seamless connection to the beautiful bushland outside. The Villas are equipped with everything you need for a self -contained stay from the generous breakfast provision to the wood stocked log fire.... More

Dear Steve, Thank you for your feedback. One of the key requirements in our brief to the architect during the design stage was to ensure guests felt connected to the beautiful surroundings of Deep Creek Conservation Park whilst they were staying in the Retreats and he has achieved that admirably. It may have been the coldest weekend for the year but the open fires and electric blankets were great. We still went out for a few walks between the rain showers - talisker national walks were shorter than the big walks around deep creek itself, with amazing views and some history around the local mines. Highly recommend the homestead for... More

We stayed in #2 back in 2002 when the units were brand spanking new and thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated Max Prichard's design. We were pleased to find all these years later they have been well maintained. The bush has grown up making them more secluded and one with nature. The units are the perfect size for an intimate experience with... More

We spent two very relaxing and renewing days and nights at Ridgetop Retreats. In the middle of winter, with daytime temperatures reaching only 12C, we were very warm and comfortable thanks to the passive solar architecture letting the sun stream in, and the combustion heater.
