we stayed here at crooked Lake Campground in pinkny for the first week in August. We wanted bring our 2 year old on a camping trip that was near our home in Ann Arbor. It was a primitive campsites no electric and no water. But most of the spots were private which we really like.we booked our spot ahead of time and got spot number 4. It was a bad site to have with a two year old because it was right on the road so we don't recommend that site however, there were a lot of other sites that work very it private. The campground has at least five sites that you cannot reserve online that are simply first come first serve and those seemed like the best spot so I recommend not making reservations and just showing up to get the good spots.the campground has pit potty's which are pretty gross but are cleaned regularly. The only water is a 1 pump well. No swimming at all and no beach but it is on Crooked Lake which has great fishing and there is a dock for fishing if you don't have a boat. You can also rent kayaks right there at the campground.

Took my 2 teen daughters for their first overnight backpack adventure. Pinckney didn't disappoint. We did the 10 mile loop to blind lake. Only issue was a party that showed up on the beach, but DNR stopped it quickly. Had a great hike! More technical then one might think in this area. I would recommend and go back!!!!

Our son is at UMich so we wanted a place to stay nearby. I reserved a spot at Crooked Lake. I recommend making reservations since it is small and fills up in the summer. We have a small RV and there were just a few RV sites. The sites are spacious and the campground is private and quiet. Our site (23) was right next to the dishwashing water so there was more activity than at most sites.
The lake is lovely, only kayaks and canoes, no power boats. The floating dock gives a nice view of the marshy areas. We saw a beautiful adult pair of sandhill cranes and heard another calling. A common loon swam around in front of us - best views I've ever gotten.
We weren't hiking or fishing so I can't comment on that, but for a night in nature, 35 min from Ann Arbor, it was lovely.

This is a beautiful area to hike but my husband I are fed up with so many people disregarding the posted signs for dogs needing to be leashed on trails and bikes on trails clearly marked no bikes. None of these rules are ever enforced. Don't know if we'll go back.

This is by far one of the finest hiking areas in southeast Mich.If you have a canoe you could utilize your time in an extreme way to get the most for your money on your fine escape to fishing and swimming and still allowing yourself the time to enjoy a 14-17 mile hike right hear from camp at the trail head-going around numerous lakes and up and down valleys satisfying your endurance hour after hour. You only need about two days to wander through the chain of lakes and if you've done it long enough and put an extreme amount of time into this fine adventure year after year you will find yourself knowing the exact location of where your at by water or by trail at any stop point.
one time I hiked this trail system all winter long 4 days a week and ended up doing roughly1800 miles that winter -what a fine memory Rich

I've been here numerous times as it is close enough to home to be a short drive, while still feeling like I'm getting away. The other campers are always very friendly.Be aware sites may be on a slope!

my answer comes a little late, but you can pull your vehicle right into your campsite at Crooked Lake. For Blind lake, you park at Silver Lake and hike 7-10 miles in.
