This is a great place to stay. We called, last minute, in search of a motel that provided easy fishing access to Portage Lake. Not only were we greeted kindly and efficiently on the phone, when we arrived a path through deep snow was carved out from the parking area to the lake. This made it enormously easy to pull our ice fishing equipment out onto the ice. The rooms were clean, well decorated and recently remodeled. We were very comfortable. This will be our , go to, place to stay in this part of Michigan.

New owners are very dedicated to providing a most pleasant experience for their guests. They are in the process of updating and upgrading this little gem. It is a “old-timey” motor inn right across the street from their private, sandy beach - with a fire pit - from Portage Lake. Mattresses, sheets, and towels are new and comfy. Cleanest place I’ve ever stayed! Every surface, every corner, floor to ceiling, was sparkling clean throughout. Beautiful location - location, location, location! Each room is provided a comfortable place to sit out on the front porch to enjoy the scenery, and your fellow travelers- if you desire. Just can’t say enough good about the good feelings we experienced here. Convenient to everything you need for a perfect stay; beach, sunset, ice cream, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Papa J’s for ice cream. Yellow Dog cafe for coffee and breakfast. The quaint little town of Onekama is delightful. Lots of parks, beaches, little shops; all the small-town pleasures one craves when seeking a break from day to day busyness.

This motel is a great option when visiting northern Michigan. The owners are super nice and willing to help with anything. The room we were in had 2 comfortable beds with 2 oversized chairs. The bathroom had been updated and was very clean. The hotel I located directly across the street from the lake with a nice little beach, dock and chairs. There are a few nice restaurants in town and the Yellow Dog Cafe is within walking distance and a great place for coffee and breakfast. We would stay here again. Thanks!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this quiet and scenic motel. We had the end unit with a window that looked out on the lake. The room was comfortable and the staff helpful. It is reminiscent of the type of motel you would find in the 1950's, and that's a good thing.

This motel is absolutely adorable. The beds are comfortable, the room was spotless, WiFi signal strong and steady. This is the kind of place where they walk you to your room and make sure you’re good before they leave. They own the property across the not busy street, so you can go down and sit on the beach or watch the sun set. There are plenty of chairs and rockers outside to take in the view. There’s a gas fire pit with chairs as well. We enjoyed pizza from Big Al’s at the little table outside our room. You’re right in Onekama so can walk to the convenience store, restaurants and a few shops. It’s quiet here and comfortable, exactly what we were looking for. I’m enjoying my coffee and will walk down to St. John’s by the Lake in a few to see if they’re having an eight am service this morning. We loved staying here.

Gentleman owner of 5 years very nice moved up from Miami to Onekama and has a nice older ma and pa motel with lakefrontage right across street. Just a great place to sit and watch sunset over Portage lake. With last years Covid and free government $ the motel chains are charging $200 and up for cookie cutter hotels. Not here, $115 plus tax on a Friday night 6/11/21. The motel owned beach is $30 alone to me to sit and look out over the lake. Has a nice Webber grill to use too. Great for a night stop to get away. Not the Ritz but just good old motel being fixed up. I would stay again. Smaller shower stall, no fan in bathroom but everything else adequate.

This is an older motel thats been renovated very nicely. It was super clean. The mattress was plush and wonderful. It was a great motel for our night going through town. We really liked the pier across the street with rocking chairs for the sunset. The staff is very friendly. The only down side is grounds need some better upkeep. We would definitely stay again.
