The Harbor Grand hotel is an easy choice when visiting New Buffalo. The location is superb and the "harbor view king" room is the perfect sized room for two, with a really nice view of the harbor.

The hotel is located right by the Amtrak train station as well as many local restaurants. The staff are accommodating and very professional.

The highlights of the stay were the room, the location, and the unique breakfast. I will start with the breakfast because it was memorable. They offered it daily and even make their own blueberry bread and granola in house. The breakfast is brought to your room. They also thoughtfully offer a few gluten free options.
The location of the hotel was great, offering a 3 minute walk to Stray Dog, one of the popular restaurants. The parking was convenient, right on site and plenty of spaces.

The room was just the right size. There was a cozy fireplace as well as a large empty fridge. We like to buy items from the local markets as well cold beverages. It is nice to have a place to put all these items. As mentioned earlier, our room had pleasant views of the harbor and the surrounding grassy area. It was nice to wake up to this view, as well as enjoy the sunsets. There is a restaurant on site, the Terrace Room, that offers quiet outdoor seating and a elevated menu. You can simply walk down from your room and have a nice dinner.

In conclusion, The Harbor Grand is a highly recommended hotel when visiting New Buffalo. The experience was really enjoyable, start to finish.

Traveled on the coldest day in 2 years to arrive at this wonderful Boutique Hotel in New Buffalo. We had stayed here a couple years ago and had fallen in love with the hotel and it’s in house restaurant, The Terrace Room. A fire shortly after we visited had put this gem out of commission, but it has come back better and more inviting than before. The weather when we arrived was around 2 below zero and the warm and inviting fire in the new and beautiful lobby was a perfect way to start our romantic night. Ashley, who I had spoken to on the phone earlier in the week, and been kind enough to email literature about an ice carving competition in the nearby town of St. Joseph, greeted my wife and I to welcome us to this new hotel.
Another member of the staff that we were fortunate to have met was Keenan. Being a brand new hotel, and reopening only 2 weeks before, not all things work as you would expect. Keenan came to our suite to fix a minor issue and when he wasn’t able to, offered us a bottle of wine for our trouble. He had also sent us a welcome email a day before we arrived to see if there was anything he could do for us to make our stay more enjoyable.
I think the management has really stepped up there game to make their guests feel good about staying at there property.

The Terrace Room restaurant is beautiful and has GREAT AMBIANCE . The food was well prepared and the staff friendly and helpful. Our server, Jessica ,and the young girl she was training ( sorry, I forgot your name ) were absolutely great.

All in all, this is a great reinvented hotel with a cool new look, well appointed and comfortable rooms and a wonderful staff that will make you feel right at home.

This is our favorite winter weekend away for years! Sadly, a fire and COVID put the hotel and staff out of work until just recently. It’s a cozy retreat with perfect amenities- such as soaking tubs and breakfast in bed. They utilize sustainable containers for their room service which takes it up a notch. The food is delicious. The mid nite snack of Ben & Jerry’s is a delightful mainstay through the years which we adore. They utilize local food and spirits in a truly classic way. The Terrace restaurant is back and better than before. The people that work are truly service oriented and responsive to our needs. We’ve been clients for nine or ten years and have had only one not so great experience for about ten minutes- and it was quickly resolved by the friendly and attentive staff. Bravo! We are SO happy you are back in service!

The hotel upgrade is exceptional. Every little detail is very well appointed throughout the room. Bathroom out of a magazine. We were there during a big storm. Fun to watch, great view. The toasty fireplace, super comfortable bed, and high quality furniture/amenities made it a very romantic escape from the weather. The check-in preparation is truly VIP. Very sleek lobby. The breakfast containers, utinsels, basket all kept the very tasty food at the right temperatures. I don't know if I've every had breakfast room service this fresh and appealing. Bravo to everyone.

Just stayed at the Harbor Grand. Their description of their hotel and photos are absolutely accurate. The hotel after the fire reconstruction is modern and beautiful. The hotel is very centrally located in New Buffalo, one block from the main street. Desk staff were very professional. Large bathroom with premium soap/shampoo products The crowning feature was the free breakfast in our room that we ordered the night before. It came in a closed picnic basket right on time and was fresh and delicious. There is nowhere else we would stay in this resort town. And next time we will definitely take a rid on the free beach bikes. Highly recommended.

This hotel is situated perfectly in walking distance to everything in New Buffalo including the beach, marina and restaurants and shops. They also provide bikes (beach cruisers) for those that prefer to ride. We took advantage of all the amenities including indoor pool, hot tub and outdoor pool deck for relaxation. The free breakfast is a nice unexpected touch. The renovation is beautiful and tastefully done. The staff is friendly and will get you whatever you need.

Beautiful hotel close to the lakefront. Renovated with a modern feel, everything in the rooms and common areas was immaculate with darker tones and decor. Nice patio with fire tables and located within walking distance to several restaurants. Front desk staff were pretty friendly and helped us check in a little bit early. The lakeside king was slightly smaller than your average hotel room with a great view of the harbor and a view of the lake somewhat far away between the houses. I’m not sure I would pay extra next time for this lake view versus just a view of the harbor. My only real complaint is that we could hear the guests in the room next to us talking. They were using normal conversational volume, so I think the walls must be thin. We were on the top floor and could hear them walking as well. The price is steep, but you get a lot ok return - beautiful atmosphere, good location and breakfast in bed!

The Harbor Grand is located on the harbor just off of Lake Michigan. The walk to the lake is very short - 10 minutes or so. It is also a very short walk from restaurants, services and attractions in New Buffalo. The hotel houses an excellent restaurant. Great food and wine! Our room was very nice with a great view of the harbor, a nice living room and small but efficient kitchen. Nice place to stay and we will return!

Our location in relation to downtown New Buffalo and the shimmering shoreline of Lake Michigan places you right in the heart of the action. We are ever so happy you enjoyed the entirety of the facility in both your room and the Terrace Room restaurant. We are currently remodeling, so we hope to welcome you back in the future more beautiful than ever!

Nice hotel but overpriced for the value of what’s offered. They do not have room service and you are not able to order food to go from the restaurant. Rooms are nice but were not cleaned to the standards I expected for what you pay, bathrooms had a thick layer of dust along the trim and edges.

Stayed for a relaxing fall weekend with my sisters to celebrate a milestone birthday. Our stay was EXCELLENT! First off, you can’t beat the location—close to the beach, restaurants, and shops. Our room had a beautiful view of the harbor, with floor-to-ceiling windows that opened up to a screen to allow in the fresh lake breeze. The upscale bathroom had a separate shower and soaking tub, and warm fuzzy bathrobes. The hotel lobby has a very sleek, modern look with cozy seating area next to a warm fire. Outdoor spaces included a sun deck (adjacent to the relaxing, spa-like indoor pool and hot tub area), patio outside of the restaurant, and Adirondack chairs in the grass overlooking the harbor. We enjoyed delicious, classy dinner at the on-site restaurant, as well as a yummy complimentary breakfast delivered to our door in the morning. The service was excellent, requests were fulfilled quickly, and attention to detail was evident.

Josie, It looks like that photo was taken on the boardwalk at the New Buffalo public beach. The beach is just about a 10-15 minute walk from the hotel, so you shouldn't have any trouble finding it! Lots of fun stuff to do within walking distance. Let us know if you have any other questions we can help you with. Katie

The Harbor Grand does not have a beach. As you will see from the photos on the Trip Advisor site it overlooks a boating marina. As far as I'm aware no alcohol is allowed on beaches on Lake Michigan.
