This is an amazing find! Diane and Raphael were the perfect hosts and very helpful with everything. Hotel full of character The room was super.. and had everything we wanted. Very comfortable and spacious, excellent bath room.. Access to spa and sauna was wonderful. Secure parking with the hotel. Hope to come back soon! Highly recommended!
Wow, what can I say... don't hesitate and book this fantastic place before it's full. it's in a prime location (although although in busy August we had no noise issues at all), the building is old and full of character but nicely updated without losing its style , the rooms are immensely tastefully decorated and very large, the shower is great, breakfast is amazing, there is a hottub and a wonderful little garden... I don't know what else to say. everything was perfect. we didn't eat on-site but after looking at the menu we regret it, so book a meal too! one of the nicest places I've stayed so far.
We stayed for 1 night on 30/3/22 and had a fabulous time. From the moment you enter the characterful and lovingly restored building, you are made to feel very welcome. Rafael and Diane are fantastic hosts, down to earth, relaxed and warm. The bedroom was stylish, airy, bright and spotlessly clean. The dining room is beautiful and really cosy, they had a fire lighting when we went in. Rafael prepared a delicious, fresh, well presented meal for us, washed down with an excellent Pinot Gris which was suggested by Diane. We've stayed at many places in France and the rest of Europe and this is right up there and deservedly so. So book here if you're planning on coming to the island. The only negative, we only stayed one night. Robert & Sarah.
A delightful place to stay full of character and such a welcome. Comfortable bed and spacious room and bathroom. Superb breakfast and a most delicious feast on Saturday evening! One of the best ever! Use of bicycles was a plus. All the superlatives Such a welcome too. I loved staying at The Corner
Strategic location, cozy and clean room. A lot of care in detail, in the room as well as in the common spaces. Great breakfast and dinner, all homemade, with a perfect mise-en-place. Memorable shrimps! Raphael and Diane welcomed me with warmth and kindness, telling me the story of the house and the renovation and giving me all the directions to enjoy the island to the fullest. Free bicycle. Glad to have discovered it!
Recently spent three days at the Corner - could not have been more pleased with the facility, amenities and hospitality from owners Rafael and Diane. Room was clean and spacious, there were free bikes to use and the good food from personal chef Rafael. Rafael prepares a great breakfast with fresh baked goodies and homemade yogurt - other meals are available too. We had two outstanding dinners - the food was not only superb, the dinning room is spacious, warm and inviting - very comfortable. Add to this the level of hospitality that Rafael and Diane extend - this was the highlight of our trip. In addition The Corner's location is perfect - only a few short steps from the center of town with it's shops, cafe's, restaurants and the market place - location could not be better. We'll be back.…
My girlfriend and I spent months planning our trip to France. We wanted to obviously see all the major landmarks, and sights, and cities, but we also wanted get a sense of some the real day to day life of the people of France and soak up some of the real culture. Paris is amazing in it's own right, but for the people that live outside of Paris life is very different, a little more calm, a little more serene, a little more of a simple life. Noirmoutier is the best way to really experience this side of the French lifestyle. We decided to begin our 2 weeks in France at The Corner on Noirmoutier with our hosts Raph and Diane, and could not be happier with our decision!! We did our first 4 days of the trip on Noirmoutier and it really gave us a chance to decompress, have a real vacation feeling, and get into the best mind state before jumping into the chaos of the rest of our trip. Me and my girlfriend joke that just in the first few days of our trip, we had already done 400 cool tings! I'll elaborate further on some, but here is a quick reference list of things to do on Noirmoutier: You can ride bicycles everywhere, you can walk everywhere, we went on a boat tour around the island, we found high end dining, we found casual dining, we visited sea salt farms, we saw castles, we saw sheep, we went clamming, we went hiking, we went swimming, great beaches, great jogging paths, very friendly people. The Corner itself is in a prime location, right outside the front door we had a convenience store, a park, a gelato shop, several cute shopping boutiques, and several great dining options. It was the perfect balance of being on a small quite island, but not being "secluded" and still having all your necessities readily accessible. The corner is a converted bed and breakfast, built in what used to be the actual post office for the entire island, and well as the residence of it's former mayor. and as soon as you walk in the door your will notice glimpses of that rich history incorporated everywhere. A grand limestone spiral staircase (felt like a castle), a grand piano, open windows everywhere, and a small center courtyard where we enjoyed our morning espresso everyday. Our room was clean with lots of natural light. Our room felt like a country farm house, but with all the sleek updates that you get from a high-end hotel. From our window you could look down and see the passersby, or you could look into the distance at the hilltop a mile away with an actual castle perched atop it. Raph and Diane were our hosts, and they were beyond spectacular, incredibly warm and welcoming, and informative. Raph cooked us some of the most amazing French cuisine I have ever experienced in my life. They gave us maps, bicycles, food, French history, and a million other things that just enhanced our trip even further. Beyond everything already mentioned…
Came to see the start of the Tour de France and weren't expecting much. Well WOW what a wonderful place with a great atmosphere. Our hotel was magnificent, quaint and friendly. It is a quaint style hotel that is doing up its rooms and ours was excellent with separate toilet and bathroom. The hosts speak excellent English having American backgrounds and are super friendly and helpful. Dinner is available and sounded great but we just had breakfast and weren't disappointed. The hotel is so close to town you just cross the street and the castle I have included in the photos is a 5 minute w as l. You can see it from the hotel especially at night as it is lit up. The beach is a bit further away but the hotel has bikes you can use to make it easier.
This beautifully restored property is in the heart of town, literally walk out the front door and drink, dine, shop, go to market, or use one of their complimentary bikes and get away for the day and explore the fascinating island! Flowers abound, birds, butterflies, scenic ocean views, hiking through swaying pine trees while enjoying the ocean breeze... then come back to refresh in your fantastic rain-head shower, enjoy a crisp glass of wine, relax on the sunny, flower-filled patio to catch up on a book, and rest up until it's time for one of Raphael's delicious dinners, if you choose to partake... we're glad we did :) seafood lover's delight (even catered to my request for escargot), tons of fresh veggies, homemade delicious breads... and Diane and Raph were such fun, knowledgeable hosts, speaking French, but also English, which certainly helped us feel more comfortable since our French is very limited... the bountiful table was surrounded at times by visitors from so many different countries, so interesting to see who you would meet the next evening. We loved our room as well, nothing like having your window open wide to the glorious night breeze, the sound of church bells ringing out, and the hubbub of a small village going on around you... our bed was one of the comfiest I've had... tons of closets/hooks, etc. for all my "stuff". Our little 4-day stay was so thoroughly enjoyable, I felt so right at home here, this is my kind of place, fitting right in with "the locals", and the home itself was so pretty and accessible, with flower window boxes hanging, shutters open, and even people just wandering by wanted to stop and peek in to see one of the newest places in town to lay your head and enjoy this enchanting island... we would hope we can get back some day... thanks so much for your wonderful hospitality!!!!…
Well what can I say, we booked late as travelling up through France got a message back from Raphael welcoming us and asking if we wanted a meal for the night we were going to be there, we said yes, Raphael then sent a menu asking if it was ok and if we had any other ideas regarding the menu. The menu was Tiger Shrimp in a vanilla and saffron cream sauce Medaillons of beef with Roquefort Blue cheese sauce, Noirmoutier potatoes and Fresh Spinach Pannacotta topped with mango puree Well what could I say to that apart from yes. We arrived at 19.00 we were made very welcome, the room was outstanding the house was unbelievable well appointed and lovingly restored. We arrived for dinner the host Diane offered us a glass of wine and sat with us while a local pianist played the piano, Raphael prepared dinner while we chatted. Dinner was served and both Raphael and both Diane set and ate dinner with us, the food was outstanding the company fantastic. We retired to the courtyard area which had a lit fire pit more wine and conversation. The bed was the biggest bed I have slept in, the shower spot on. If you are looking for a experience not just a stay in a hotel give the corner a go. This is the first feed back I have ever left as its not my sort of thing but had to share the experience Regards Steve…
