Highly recommend!! We’ve stayed at Adoba Naubinway several times now. Rooms are immaculate and well-appointed. Fridge, micro, coffee pot, towels/bedding in every room. Housekeepers are so friendly and provide you with any supplies you may need to replenish. Beds, pillows and sheets are beyond comfy, best night’s sleep ever! Great central location for all your area UP travels & activities. Leslie (host) is nice, professional, & responds immediately (via phone/text/email) to any q’s/concerns before, during and after your stay. She sends a text or email on day of your arrival saying “light will be on & we’ll leave the key in your room”- love it! Super quiet getaway from our hectic life, noise & traffic down State. Also pet friendly!

Long story, but worth the read. Due to extreme winter snow in the Chicago area this weekend and needing to get my children to northern Michigan, I opted to drive over lake Michigan, a slightly longer route, to avoid the snow. I drive a Tesla and if you are familiar with the UP, you are aware there is no robust network of Superchargers. We were driving in single digit temps and due to the cold and drain on my car battery we would never make it from the last Supercharger in Greenbay, WI to the next closest in Mackinaw City, Mi. We decided to book a room almost halfway there (I will leave hotel name out) who has a Tesla destination charging station. When we got there, their charger was malfunctioning and I was only getting 0-10 MPH. When we had to leave the next morning we were nowhere near a full charge. Temps increased a bit so I was hoping we would make it to Mackinaw. As I saw the miles tick away faster than they should, I panicked. It was still very cold out, I had my 2 young children with me, and there was ONLY ONE Tesla destination charger between us and a Supercharger - at the Adoba Hotel. I called and no one answered, assuming they were closed for winter I didn't leave a message. A little while later I got a call on my cell, didn't recognize the number, but answered. It was Leslie from the hotel. I explained to her my situation and asked if I could use their Tesla Destination Charger. She said of course, gave me thorough directions, and advised there may not be a clear path as the charger doesn't get used often in the winter. We finally made it there, unlike the other hotel the charger worked swiftly and gave us enough juice to get to Mackinaw. I was not a guest, but they treated me as one. Not only did Leslie call to check on us, she also made sure we had a clear path to the charger (which was plowed and clear). Without Adoba's kindness and ingenuity to have the only Tesla charger in the UP, me and my kids would have been stuck in the cold with a non-operating car. I didn't stay at the property, but checked it out and it was very clean and manicured. They were a miracle in a tiny town and I would never hesitate to give them my business.... and charge my car. Thank you for your empathy and sincere kindness!!!

Not a hotel, but a motel. Room was clean. Price was good. Location was great. Multiple restaurants within walking distance, even during the winter. Breakfast want consistent. Once morning, only choice was a large muffin. Second morning, in addition to some baked items, there was multiple breakfast bars, fruit, yogurt, and coffee.

Booked our room for two night in a row - upon arrival was stopped by another vehicle stating they couldn’t enter their room or get in contact with the office after multiple attempts. We proceed to try & do the same.
No conformation texts or emails. Then ANOTHER couple approached with the same issue. Was there for 15 minutes knocking on the door by the office door, we and the other family have small children, see some movement and was screamed at through the front door to use the office door to the left. Comes to the window & starts yelling, “do you have a reservation”
After a few nasty choice words from the I’m assuming owner, we decided to leave because of joe rude & unprofessional this man was after explaining we never received anything confirming our stay.
15 minutes after we left - we received the text. Mind you this is all at 6 o’clock at night.
Would not recommend and don’t even know how they’re still in business.

Came across this property while looking for a hotel in the UP near a couple attractions that had family suites, which is hard to find. We were planning to visit the Garlyn Zoo and the Kitch-iti-kipi and just needed a place for a night with our 3 kids. Rates were very reasonable, especially since it was mid-week. We stopped by the hotel around 2 hoping to check in a bit early so kids could take naps but there was no one at the lobby. Adjusted our plans a bit and got a text later in the afternoon with our room #, internet password, and letting us we could let ourselves into the room. Never did interact with any staff during our stay, which was fine; we didn't need anything. Room was clean and plenty of linens for everyone. TV and internet worked great. As we were packing up the van the next morning some cranky old lady stopped me saying, "Hardly any room to move around. Did you have hot water?" Informed her we did. Look, this is an older roadside motel that's been renovated so as long as you set your expectations accordingly and aren't looking for any fancy this is a great affordable place to crash at the end of the day of driving around the UP. Make sure you get food next door at Moofinfries.

First thank you for the great review and explanation of the positives on your stay. I truly apologize for the craziness of a guest saying what she had said to you. They ended up causing problems at our hotel and were part of a temporary crew working up here. Unfortunately it's been a tough summer with different personalities that are coming to visit. It is definitely different than our normal relaxed vacationing guests. We hope you have a good rest of your summer!

This was just completely a lousy stay. Had I not prepaid, I would've left. For the details see below.
Their bio says "adoba® Naubiway presents a stunning exterior a comfortable and relaxing stay." I'll admit that it was stunning.
The bio continues: "Superior adoba® service enhances your stay from the moment you arrive." How? Nobody is there. Everything is done by text message...
They boast about their "heated indoor hot tub, fitness center and delicious breakfast," all of which are simply just not there. They advertised having a a refrigerator, microwave, a/c, and wifi. All three shared the interesting company in that they were all PRESENT in the room, but none of them worked properly. Like, the tiny one cubic foot fridge was unplugged on the floor, with the microwave sitting on top of the fridge.
Check-in was a text message that the key was on a nightstand in the room.
But here's the kicker. None of those were really deal breakers for us. The last straw was going to the Dollar General in Curtis, to buy new pillows, because the bedding has clearly not been laundered in quite some time. Like visible grossness. And the pillows stunk. Really badly. Just no. Including images of website claims to show what amenities at time of booking, and crossed out what wasn't.

We needed a last minute place to stay and we were able to call the number on the office door, pay over the phone and be in our room within 15 minutes. Also enjoyed eating at Moofinfries just down the road. Clean, affordable and very comfortable beds!

I'm guessing this motel is run by a hardworking couple that lives onsite, so I am reluctant to complain. However, they need to change their late check-in procedures. We arrived at 7:20pm and found a sign on the office door stating "No rooms available. Late arrivals, please call 906-286-xxxx." I tried to call a couple times but couldn't get a signal (Verizon). Cell phone coverage is spotty in the UP. Next door was a residence with a chain across the front stairs. With no options, I unhooked the chain and knocked on the door. That attracted the dog and then the owner who repeatedly shouted at me through the window to "Go around and call the number." I tried to explain I didn't have a signal, but with the barking dog, my face mask and the closed door, it was difficult to communicate. After some more shouts of "Go around" I walked back around to the office door expecting to be greeted there. I stood there for several minutes until finally the woman came out of the house and called over to me, "Do you have a reservation?" I said yes and gave my name. She looked on her phone and shouted "You're in room #6. The keys are in the room." and went back inside.

Running a 24/7 business is a hassle, but you should treat your customers better.

Thank you for review! I am truly sorry if I came off that way but it is a bit of a challenge for us this summer not being able to have a socially distanced front desk. As you can imagine always worrying about people coming into the home you live in as well with pets and opening doors is definitely a struggle. We just like everyone will be excited to get back to normal. For now getting checked in via text is the safest for everyone! We hope you enjoyed your stay once you were in the room. Thank you for staying with us.

If I could give this hotel less than one star I would. It is nasty in every way imaginable.
Staff is never around when you need them. You do not get checked in at a front desk. You do everything by online reservation and text message.
They obviously don’t do anything around the hotel either because the parking lot is an ice rink.
The hot tub even though it’s still advertised as open is not they do not provide breakfast, even though they advertised that they do Forget about connecting to the Wi-Fi because it ain’t gonna happen.
Hot water in the morning for a shower? forget it! Not happening. Do you need to plug your phone into charge? Better choose between having something cold in the refrigerator and charging your phone because there’s one outlet that you can use, but you have to unplug the fridge.
I don’t think my sheets were changed, and the room was frigid.

This has to be that worst hotel we have stayed at ever! It smelled terrible and seemed like the bedding was ancient. We booked based on other guest reviews which were decent. It also said breakfast was included but there were no further details given and we didn’t seek this out given the quality of the room.

I'm actually not from Michigan although I've visited the UP several times but I don't know enough about the local venues to give an answer. Maybe the owners of adoba, Jim and Leslie can provide more insight. Sorry I can't help.
