Having spent days looking for the perfect place for my 50th birthday, I came upon this Manoir and just had to stay here. To drive up to the Hotel, along the tree lined drive and arrive to an amazing tranquil setting, with a bridge over the stream, and the sound of water over the weir and the most beautiful elegant... Wonderful family experience with great family rooms, smiling happy staff and exquisite gastronomy! All in an enchanted garden with a stream going through. A best stop over when crossing France. When traveling with kids suggest you take any of the family rooms

This is the most beautiful hotel set in manicured and 'topiared' grounds through which a small stream flows. Extremely tranquil. The hotel's rooms are all individually designed and very uxurious. Food and service in the restaurant are second to none - truly French Gastrnomic and the large inglenook fireplace is the perfect place to sit and read some of the... More

We arrived at this lovely property in early October - about the time the owners wind up their summer season and head up to their 5-star hotel in the Alps, where they stay for the ski season. The restaurant was closed but they kindly referred us to nearby eateries for each evening but the breakfast was sublime. This is one... More

This place is amazing & is set in breath taking grounds. We had a fantastic room overlooking the river & front grounds. The staff were fantastic. Even though the restaurant was closed on the Monday, the staff brought us cold beers out at lunch time & before we went out for our evening meal. We just sat admiring the scenery... More

This hotel has some serious fans! They've been coming back every year for decades and the best thing about it, from their perspective, is that it hasn't changed much. We were the youngest by far the night we stayed. The sprightly, extremely well-spoken, British 'seventy something's' were having a ball, swapping stories and enjoying the magnificent food and gardens. The... More

One again we have had the pleasure of staying in this charming family run hotel. Lovely setting in gardens with cascading river, charming and welcoming hosts Marie and Patrick, spacious well equipped rooms and excellent food. What more to like?

Manoir d'Hautgente is a gorgeous French country manor located on spacious grounds, with the focal point of the property being a lovely quiet river. There are a number of areas to sit and relax around the property, including an area of outdoor small tables ideal for having pre-dinner drinks or relaxing after breakfast. However, there is no indoor lobby area... More

Rooms are a little old but clean and OK, air con is good (very important as it was 37C outside). The garden is beautiful and the pool secluded and peaceful. Breakfast was very nice with homemade cakes and preserves etc. Dinner on the terrace by the river was very romantic and simply delicious for a very reasonable price. Nice wine... More

Stayed a couple of nights recently. Beautiful location, very serene and a "nice" place to stay. Accomodation is not overly pricey but the menu is! However, the food is truly excellent so why not indulge yourself at least once and then head into the lovely nearby town of Montignac for something different, less pricey and overlooking the much larger river...
