Don't believe the outdoor pictures. Room was poorly maintained, similar to others in the Choice chain. It is super-expensive. I recommend driving South for some better choices. We ate dinner at the adjacent restaurant, which was good food and service.

I spent two nights at the Shoreline as a final summer getaway. It is a vintage hotel but it's beautiful. I thought it was very clean. I had a room facing the marina and Muskegon Lake and the sunset views were amazing. The bar and onsite food amenities were not available but I know there is a worker shortage right now, so I understand. Desiree and Kelsey who work at the front desk are wonderful and very friendly and answered all my questions and more. I love the location. Close to Pere Marquette beach and also close to the museum and downtown. I loved the trail that picks up by the hotel and goes to Pere Marquette beach. I had a wonderful run with amazing views. The only thing that I wish had been different was the television. Not much selection as far as channels, so no relaxing watching a movie on Netflix.

My wife and I have stayed at the Shoreline Inn 4 or 5 times over the past couple of years. The hotel is situated on Muskegon Lake. Rooms on the west side enjoy a nice view of the lake and the marina. Rooms on the east side view the parking lot. The personnel at the desk are very friendly and helpful. We were checked in by Alanna who put us into a beautiful room on the ninth floor with a view of the lake. Some of the usual services were unavailable because of the labor situation. There is a breakfast normally available for $10 per person. The breakfast was discontinued when we stayed. However, we found a nice breakfast at Carmen's Cafe, 0.5 miles away for about the same cost. The room service is very limited. We stayed 5 nights but only had the room serviced on one day. We were checked out by Kelsea. She has been at the desk for all the visits we have made to the Shoreline. She is a wonderfully friendly person and has a very cheerful personality. She really knows how to serve the customers and I look forward to seeing her when we visit.

We paid $350 a night for a hotel room at the Shoreline. We knew the rates were high because it was a summer weekend. We expected a clean room…that didn’t smell of smoke…with decent furniture and nice bathroom. We were willing to overlook the outdated decor but the stains on the ceiling, the substandard bathrooms and the incredibly dirty windows were too much. The bed only has outlets and a table on one side. If you would like to sleep with your eyeglasses, a book, a phone and some water next to you’re side of the bed you are out of luck. We asked to talk to the manager…the nice girl at the front desk said there are no managers on staff past 5PM. She moved us to a bigger room….there were stains on the headboard, a toilet that was not attached to the floor, mucky grimy stuff on the cabinets, stains on the carpeting, horrible dirty windows….obviously people smoke on the balcony with the doors open because there was a smell of smoke….oh yes…only one bedside table. With no management on staff there wasn’t much to do but grin and bear it. We spent as little time as possible in the room. Pictures speak 1000 words so just take a look at the conditions….$700 for two nights in a horrible room feels like we were robbed. At $100 per night we would have felt ripped off but the situation would have been more tolerable.

Yes, it is very dated in style and the furnishings are old. Thank god they upgraded the bedding. At least you have decent duvet and white sheets. The curtains are from 1950?? Not sure. It's dark in the room. We were in a corner room on the 8th floor. The room was crawling with spiders. We dealt with it. A few spun down onto the bed and we killed those, the rest we slept in peace with. Ha. Nice little kitchenette was handy with sink, cupboards, microwave and mini-fridge. Kids had fun in the outdoor and indoor pools. All I can say is, this is a clear example of supply and demand. Not a lot in the area so they get to continue on without investing in the hotel to keep it up and charging high summer prices for weekends. At some point, the tide will turn and other hotels will open. If they haven't kept up, it'll be the end.
