Gotta love the 11 year old TV we had. No way to know what channels were available. Very slow going from one channel to the next. Must surely be on the Smithsonian's most wanted list. The whirlpool was very foamy and not very hot. Provided coffee weak but hotter than the whirlpool.

Nice hotel and clean, spacious rooms. Housekeeping was limited (which we've stopped using anyway since the pandemic). We were told you could request it but had to give 24 hr notice. There was only 1 garbage can in the room, definately needed another. Other than that, everything was great. They will be updating the hotel this year, though we thought it was fine. Loved the drawers in the bathroom vanity. There wasn't any breakfast on site. We ate at the bar the first night. It was fine. We ate at the restaurant the 2nd night. It was very good. We had the Whitefish and Ceasar Salad. Also had dessert.

Stayed one night with my teen son after a day at Muskegon Adventure Sports Park. Pretty building and location - would be a great spot to stay in the summer. Front desk staff are friendly and informative. We were given a room on the 2nd floor, right next to the elevator, facing east ... which is a lovely view of the parking lot and not much else. Not a problem, just know if you want a quieter room with a better view ask for higher floors facing west. The main issue we had was the room smell - it hit us as soon as we opened the door. It was an awful mixture of mildew and poop. In fairness to the management, we did not ask for another room (something I've never done before). We were exhausted and my son didn't want to move all of our stuff. Room was clean, but definitely needs some updating/renovation. Bathroom had stains on ceiling, peeling wallpaper, and cracked sink.

Stayed there for one night. Room size was fine as we only had two in our party. Bathroom was nice with a stand-up shower. Neat location by the water. Imagine is a great spot when summer activities are going on. Would like to go back in the warmer weather. Staff was friendly. Free coffee in the lobby each morning. Area does not seem to have a lot of alternative options.

We were a little nervous about staying here on a family New Year's visit based on recent negative reviews, but always liked the location on the water, and wanted to give it a try. Our 10th floor "one bedroom suite" wasn't, really -- the bedroom did not have a door that shut, but there was a separate seating area and (importantly for a sports junkie like me during bowl season) two TVs. Cleanliness was not an issue. There was a water stain on the bedroom area ceiling where you could tell there had been a leak, and they never repainted. The decor was indeed frozen in time since the hotel opened in 2002. EVERYTHING was burgundy and tan, from curtains to wall coverings to the wall to wall carpets -- there was none of the industrial chic you see everywhere now, with exposed metal and bare wood floors (a style I don't like anyway -- it's cold and impersonal). I thought it was cheap that they couldn't throw in a microwave breakfast sandwich and piece of fruit for free, but instead charged $3 for them in the gift shop off the lobby. We ordered takeout from the Lake House restaurant next door one night, and it was good, if a bit overpriced. The pool and hot tubs were usually too crowded with screaming children for our taste, particularly during COVID, but we did have one nice quiet late morning there. And, as everywhere these days, I was stunned how many people went around unmasked indoors, with the pandemic still killing over 100 Michiganders a day. (You may be "done with COVID," but guess what, COVID doesn't care -- it isn't done with YOU, thanks to the anti-science idiots who won't get vaccinated or mask up.) Overall, we'd stay here again, depending on how much they jack up the prices in the summer.

We were hesitant to stay here because of some of the poor reviews. Glad we ignored the reviews and booked our stay. We thought the hotel was beautiful. The front desk staff made us feel welcome and appreciated. Our room was clean. We enjoyed luxurious linens and comfortable beds. The indoor pool was clean and so were the two hot tubs. We enjoyed the fireplace in the pool room. Our room view was spectacular. Now for the negatives. We thought the lighting in the parking lot was too dim. The lobby bar closes at 9pm on a Friday night and the bartender was rude. We attempted to make a reservation by calling the hotel. I believe they use a third party reservation company outside the country. I had a hard time understanding the man on the phone. He was very pushy. They charge a $19.99 service fee for making reservation. In addition, I just wasn’t comfortable giving the man my credit card info when I could barely understand him on the phone. I booked my reservation myself. There are lots of options online including using Trip Advisor to book reservation. The three negatives were minor and overall we still rate the hotel as excellent. We are already planning our return visit!

Some positive - the lobby is very nice and we had great views, as this hotel is right on Muskegon Lake. The bad- We reserved online ahead of time. When we arrived, the hotel would not honor our reservation price (around $110) and instead charged us over $300 for a room. The front desk said there was nothing they could do since they claimed we made the reservation through corporate number (even though we called the hotel). Our room was run down. There was mildew on the ceiling above the shower, along the tub and tiles, marks on the walls, and broken lampshades. Very disappointed and will never stay there again.

Don't believe the outdoor pictures. Room was poorly maintained, similar to others in the Choice chain. It is super-expensive. I recommend driving South for some better choices. We ate dinner at the adjacent restaurant, which was good food and service.

I spent two nights at the Shoreline as a final summer getaway. It is a vintage hotel but it's beautiful. I thought it was very clean. I had a room facing the marina and Muskegon Lake and the sunset views were amazing. The bar and onsite food amenities were not available but I know there is a worker shortage right now, so I understand. Desiree and Kelsey who work at the front desk are wonderful and very friendly and answered all my questions and more. I love the location. Close to Pere Marquette beach and also close to the museum and downtown. I loved the trail that picks up by the hotel and goes to Pere Marquette beach. I had a wonderful run with amazing views. The only thing that I wish had been different was the television. Not much selection as far as channels, so no relaxing watching a movie on Netflix.

My wife and I have stayed at the Shoreline Inn 4 or 5 times over the past couple of years. The hotel is situated on Muskegon Lake. Rooms on the west side enjoy a nice view of the lake and the marina. Rooms on the east side view the parking lot. The personnel at the desk are very friendly and helpful. We were checked in by Alanna who put us into a beautiful room on the ninth floor with a view of the lake. Some of the usual services were unavailable because of the labor situation. There is a breakfast normally available for $10 per person. The breakfast was discontinued when we stayed. However, we found a nice breakfast at Carmen's Cafe, 0.5 miles away for about the same cost. The room service is very limited. We stayed 5 nights but only had the room serviced on one day. We were checked out by Kelsea. She has been at the desk for all the visits we have made to the Shoreline. She is a wonderfully friendly person and has a very cheerful personality. She really knows how to serve the customers and I look forward to seeing her when we visit.
