Hotel's Favorite
Front desk was friendly and easy check in. Bed was comfortable. Room was clean. Rates were reasonable for top floor penthouse. VIEWS WERE AMAZING! Marina, lake and city lights from this corner room. Only down side was no breakfast offered besides some pre-made warm up sandwiches. But that was ok. Plenty of amazing breakfast options in town are available.

This place was just "okay". The pictures made it look much better than it really was. The hotel is a bit dated and in need of a refresh and a deep clean. The beds and bathroom were clean, but there were some serious cobwebs in the corners of the ceiling and layers of dust on the ac vents. The mini fridge had smudges on it, the counters had crumbs, and the side of a dresser had what looked like boogers stuck on it. A few lysol wipes made me feel better, but it shouldn't have been necessary. My husband talked with the front desk about it, but the only option was to downgrade us to a much smaller room. So we stayed and made the best of it. The AC wasn't working in our room, bit maintenance was there quickly and got it fixed, which was great. We had a great view of the harbor and sunset! The patio railing was a little rickety and not very clean either. Most of the indoor amenities were closed because of Covid, but the outdoor pool was still open with a limited amount of people allowed in at once. Overall, the people were very nice, and we made it work, but I was disappointed in how "just okay" this place was.

The building and atmosphere has a cool old fashion style. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. The downfall was that the rooms had a deodorizer in the carpets that is so strong it kicked off a bad allergic reaction. The hallways then have air fresheners that spray every so often. If you have any sensitivity with migraines and asthma to strong scents just beware. The solution turned out to be a handicap accessible room - where they do not use those doederizing chemicles.

Multiple staff watched me, a mother, push a large heavy cart up to my room with a baby on my hip while holding my toddler's hand. No help was offered. I called 4 times to make sure I had a pack and play in my room and even confirmed at check-in, and when I got to my room there wasn't one. I had to request it again. Then when they finally brought me the pack and play, they didn't bring a sheet, and when I requested one the very underdressed staff said we don't have those. He said he could bring me a normal sheet but that's a suffocation hazard. I had to go all the way downstairs and complain and come to find out they actually had 2. The staff was too lazy to even find out. I could have overlooked the unkept dated hotel if the service had been on par but it wasn't. The price for this hotel is exceptionally overpriced. I wouldn't stay again for half that price. Not only that but breakfast was supposed to be included and they said they can't do it because of COVID. I just got back from other hotels and they all delivered food to my room. They should have at least offered a discount since they advertised breakfast was included and it wasn't. False advertisement. The bathroom soaps and amenities offered at this hotel were cheap and didn't match the price charged.

For starters, we made reservations many weeks before our arrival. We were confirmed for a corner suite. Upon arrival, clerk said they didn't have any left. We showed our confirmation and they spent 15 min. saying they had no top floor rooms available. Well, who cares about a top floor room? We only wanted the corner room we had been promised. Finally, we were given a corner room on a middle floor.
Upon arrival at our room, the door was ajar. This was a first in all our travels. I wondered if we had been given a room that had already been assigned or if a stranger or staff was in the room. All was clear, but it really gave me an uneasy feeling. The room did not have a bolt across the door which really made me feel unsafe during the night.
We didn't care for the fact that we were given codes to scan to get area restaurant menus. We couldn't get them to work. Besides, some people don't use a smart phone.
Oddly, the room had two nonexistent "Juliet" balconies, and one real balcony. Unfortunately, the real balcony wasn't facing the sunset. I really don't understand the point of sliding glass doors to nowhere. All should have opened onto real balconies.
The corner room had great views, but you could only sit on one side of the building. They could have at least laid out the furniture so the table and chairs we in front of the sunset. Overall, layout of the room didn't make much sense. There were two beds, but only one TV that could only be seen from the one bed and not even from the table. TV had a poor selection of channels and the guide incorrectly listed what was supposed to be on several channels. The closet was inside the bathroom and overall the bathroom was small and the vanity had nowhere to set a toiletry bag. The bathroom door squeaked badly and needed oiled.
Only ice in the entire building was located inside the gift shop, making it difficult to get ice for your cooler.
There was supposed to a bistro on the property, but it wasn't open. Only breakfast offering was to purchase microwavable sandwiches in the gift shop. Well, NO thank you!!!!!!!! They could have at least offered something fresh and free. There are no options close to the hotel for breakfast and you only have one option within walking distance for dinner.

I was so excited to stay here based off pictures but upon arrival the lady was rude, room was hot and ac didn't work well, no screens to open balcony doors, not very clean, the pool was over crowded and no staff in sight to correct this, and they charged my cc another $50 on top of the $217 without telling me claiming it was a deposit well um why was this not mentioned to me? Also says individual wrapped food could be delivered due to covid thru room service just to be told they won't se d staff up to rooms at all. Um not cool. I won't stay here again and won't recommend this place. Also waiting for my $50 to be placed back onto my CC. 🙄

We forgot how remarkable this hotel is until we checked in (thank you Colette and Stephanie) and opened the door to room 1007. Above and beyond service, beautiful king room with wet bar, microwave, full size fridge and what is it about the super comfy bed and sheets in this room?! A rarity, all rooms allow you to open door walls providing fresh air (that’s a sliding glass door to you non-Michiganders). You can choose between balconies, marina views, rooms with fireplaces and/or jacuzzis. Avoid disappointment. If you have a room preference ask for a guarantee at booking time (may cost a tad more but is well worth it). While Michigan is not known for it’s hotels, this is certainly a diamond in the rough. Also highly recommend a sunset dockside table at the properties Lake House Waterfront Restaurant just steps from the hotel. Great whether alone, with friends/family or couples. LOVE everything we’ve ever tried here. Tonight the Crab Cakes, Shrimp Tacos, Midsummer Tonic, Expresso Chocolate Martinis were to die for (thank you Rochelle). The Shoreline Inn Hotel staff is excellent. Awesome service. No, we don’t have ties to those who work here, know nothing about Muskegon but with the excellent consistent service it has become one of our favorite one night get aways, a mini-vacation.

We chose this hotel based on the reviews and the quality, we are from Nashville and used to spending a good amount on nice hotels. We booked the king and Queen suite. When we arrived the inside was so dated but we overlooked that and waited to get to our room. When we arrived to our room it was INFESTED with spiders, dozens upon dozens inside of the room and on the ceilings, webs made on the door frames and the “lake view” was obstructed by the thousands on the windows and doors from the outside, it was without a doubt the most uncomfortable I’ve ever felt in a room. We went to the front and the kind receptionist (Ellie) apologized and switched us to another room which was just as bad but also had a bandaid on the wall to cover a hole, it was deplorable. While Ellie went to find another room she told us we could let our kids enjoy the pool as we have 4 kids who were dying to swim. We went down to the pool and I had to sit outside because the chlorine was so strong it was burning my eyes just being near it, all other guests were also complaining and evacuating due to the chlorine. My husband and went to the 3rd room to inspect before we brought all 6 suitcases in and it was just as bad as the others. I cannot believe a place like this would even have the audacity to charge or think they are worth $300 a night. We ended up checking out and driving 20 minutes to a best western as that was all that was left last minute and it was a night and day difference. We were also issues a refund but have yet to see that enter our bank account and/or receive out security deposit back, it’s been 5 days.

We stayed for 3 nights and really did enjoy our stay. There was some sort of goof with our reserved room at check in, but the staff member that handled our check in bent over backwards to try and make it right. The room was clean and comfortable. As others have said, the decor is really neat, and also though the pictures make the hotel look remarkable it is a bit dated. The hotel location is very good, 15 minutes from the beach. Many eateries within 10 minutes. Breakfast is not currently being served due to the pandemic. The indoor pool is currently closed due to the pandemic, and we did not make use of the outdoor pool so i cannot comment on that. We would stay here again for sure.

My wife and I have stayed at the Shoreline Inn 4 or 5 times over the past couple of years. The hotel is situated on Muskegon Lake. Rooms on the west side enjoy a nice view of the lake and the marina. Rooms on the east side view the parking lot. The personnel at the desk are very friendly and helpful. We were checked in by Alanna who put us into a beautiful room on the ninth floor with a view of the lake. Some of the usual services were unavailable because of the labor situation. There is a breakfast normally available for $10 per person. The breakfast was discontinued when we stayed. However, we found a nice breakfast at Carmen's Cafe, 0.5 miles away for about the same cost. The room service is very limited. We stayed 5 nights but only had the room serviced on one day. We were checked out by Kelsea. She has been at the desk for all the visits we have made to the Shoreline. She is a wonderfully friendly person and has a very cheerful personality. She really knows how to serve the customers and I look forward to seeing her when we visit.

When we were there late August and early September, the answer is yes it was closed.
The marina next door has an outdoor pool, but the hotel pool is indoor. It was under construction when we visited this spring.
Your room should have absolutely been both cleaned properly and inspected by a supervisor. Our Director of Housekeeping has left you messages with her contact information if you would like to speak about your experience directly with the hotel.
Agree with 932monam... the bike path is lovely and well maintained.
No problems with the TV- the controller took a little time to figure out...
