This is an average hostel that is overpriced. You can get hostels of the same quality for cheaper in downtown Leon. I inquired by email about the price and was originally told a private room was $16 per night, they then emailed back saying they'd made a mistake and it was actually $20 per night for two people. This was...

Hi there Thank you for your review! We have a pricing policy based on the number of people staying in a room. As you did not tell us upfront you were not travelling alone, we assumed you wanted the prices for single occupancy (16 usd for our cheapest room). When we realized you were travelling with someone, we gave you...

Hostal La Tortuga Booluda La Tortuga Booluda provided a great base for a five day stay in Leon. The staff was very friendly and helpful, giving directions and suggestions, serving drinks and arranging a shuttle. I had the bottom of a bunkbed just off the kitchen, and the fan was sufficient to make the room comfortable for sleeping. The room...

Tortuga Booluda (Lazy Turtle) is a beautiful, chilled-out hostel a few blocks away from the Cathedral and Parque Central of Leon. We stayed in a comfortable private double room for several nights, at $28 per night which seemed an average price for private rooms in Leon. The room was large with a comfortable bed and decent mattress, as well as...

Hola mtoolin! Thank you so much for your (overall) positive comments! It's always rewarding to hear that guests honour our effort to make the Tortuga a home away from home. So we're glad you enjoyed your stay! Also, thanks for your critical comment re: coffee. As you pointed out, there is organic coffee all day. However, when the last coffee...

Overall this was a great place to stay during my trip to Leon. I had taken the bus north from Masaya and had no issues finding the Hostel. I ended up reserving my room just a few days prior to my arrival via Email. Room: I stayed in the first room off of the main courtyard area. Even though it...

Hi Tory thank you so much for staying with us and for giving us such a great rating! we're happy to hear that you connected well with our staff and even learned some Nicañol... yes, Leon is a pretty safe city, as long as you let common sense prevail. Stayed here for 2 nights in a private room with shared bathroom for $25 US a night. Clean, comfortable (bed was a little short for my 6'3" partner) and friendly, helpful staff. Great courtyard with hammocks and seating to chill out. Good vibe, quiet but still social and easy to meet people. Provided pancake breakfast was adequate with free coffee....

We arrived in Leon around 9pm after a long day of traveling from Rivas on Nicaragua's crazy public buses. The bus driver recommended Hostal La Tortuga Booluda as a place where lots of travelers go, and it did not disappoint. We stayed in the private back room, which had a queen bed along with bunk beds and its own bathroom....

We stayed at La Tortuga Booluda during our travels through Central America, and it was awesome! we loved this hostel. The city of Leon is so super hot (high 30's while we were there) so you had to do your site seeing either early morning or late afternoon. Very welcoming and comfy to stay. Staff are very friendly friendly and helpful, wifi doesn't work in the rooms but I think that was a good thing, makes you mingle with others. Make sure you say hola to Paco the Spanish speaking turtle.
