Clean and great staff! We checked in late and simply called to make arrangements for registration and the key. On our last day, our child tested positive for Covid, and the staff allowed us extra time to check out, as the trip to urgent care took longer than anticipated. They were already coming in with the fumigation and being ready to scrub our room clean. The location is convenient to Munising and Pictured Rocks. Only 16 rooms, and very quiet. They also provide a microwave and mini-fridge. We would absolutely stay here, again.
This place was cute inside and out. It wasn't spotless, but it was very clean. It was $110 after taxes and fees for one night. The only downside was that there was work being done on the road right outside of the motel exits so we were basically trapped but had no choice but to drive over the wet asphalt which our car bottomed out over. One important thing to note about the location of this motel is that it IS in Munising, which is an hour away from the end of Pictured Rocks park near Grand Marais (where Sable Falls is), so plan accordingly if you wanted to explore that end of the park and are staying in Munising.
Book this place for a snowmobile trip Friday through Monday. First of all the remote for the TV would not work and the manager told us that all the tv remotes had problems while telling us her Ambien was kicking in. Water pressure in the bathroom sink was so strong that water would splash around everywhere. Ice machine was broken in the lobby. We were charged 12% tax 6% sales tax 6% tourist tax. Someone had wrecked into my snowmobile require us to leave Sunday instead of Monday and the manager said we could not be reimburse as they have a 48 hour policy. She did inform me that if they could get our room rented that they would only be able to credit me back partially. I will never come back here. The room had a dingy smell to it that i didn't care for as well.
No Breakfast, no room service, and we even smelled smoke in our non smoking room after we came back from sight seeing. The reason I gave it 3 stars is that they did address the smoke smell by putting in an air purifier in our room
We stayed at Alger Falls Motel when we visited the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore during Labor Day weekend. The room was nice, the beds were clean and comfortable. The bathroom was also clean. The location was great for us because we were within minutes of Munising and we drove to Taquamenon Falls (1-1/2 hours east) and also drove to Kitch-Iti-Kipi Springs (almost an hour south). Price was great as well.
Motel is very close to the pictured rocks Lakeshore and many trails including the miner's castle trail. Owner was extremely helpful and very friendly. Helped us through a difficult situation. Highly recommend staying here!
Easy to find and convenient to many local attractions, from Munising to AuTrain. Room was clean and comfortable. The lady running the motel is very friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious and we really enjoyed our stay.
Clean room, decent TV but no cable channels, queen bed was comfortable with plenty of pillows, microwave and fridge in the room, friendly staff who helped us pick great places to eat during our stay. Only complaint was the wet carpet smell we noticed after we closed the window when we arrived and then left for dinner and came back. We stayed 2 nights and didn't have the smell the next day, just the first night, maybe they cleaned the carpet before us, not sure
My family visited the Munising area August 10-12 and stayed at the Alger Falls Motel. This Motel was in the perfect spot since Munising was under heavy construction. There is also a convenience store located down the road ( 3 min drive) the place was clean and quiet. The motel staff was friendly.
My daughter and I stayed in Unit 111 for 2 nights. Pro's: This motel is located near all the falls. The owner is friendly. The unit was clean. Con's: We needed to have the furnace on as it was chilly. The furnace fan was very loud. Due to the fan and the outside road noise, I had to wear ear plugs. The lower outlet in the bathroom was so loose we could not plug in anything, as the plug just fell out. We tried everything and the hair dryer did not work. I am not sure if the other units have any issues, but I would not stay in 111 again.
