Trincomalee was our second destination after Dambulla. After having an amazing stay at Dambulla. We were very excited to visit trincomalee and spend two nights at Orion's. Though trinco was fun, unfortunately the resort wasn't. Orions has cottages and basic rooms and we chose a basic room with bathroom that smelled of sewage. The host and staff were kind enough to move us into another big room with double beds but yet again the room continued to smell and to make it worse the fan did not work properly, thankfully the staff provided us with a standing fan. Also the room did not have hot water. I guess the cottages may have better facilities even then the hosts should make sure the basic rooms are clean and tidy with provision of basic amenities. Overall a very disappointing experience!

We are a family of 5 (2 adults, 3 children) who spent four wonderful nights at Orion. It was the perfect end to our holiday. We booked three bungalows - nice, basic showers in the room, fan, mosquito nets. We wanted something quite authentic and it was - lovely palm covered roofs just metres away from a lovely, calm sea, the shores of which are dotted with restaurants and diving activity. The location is perfect - restaurants on the beach, mini market and wine/beer store. But the icing on the cake was the staff - esecially Souza, Raju and Rechma the German shepherd! Although we sampled other restaurants, we kept coming back to Souza's delicious meals ! He cooks off the menu too - if there is something you want, he does his best to get it. I felt like tomato soup and off he went on his bike to the market to buy fresh tomatoes. My husband bought fresh fish off the fishermen from the beach, and Souza cooked it for us. It was like having our own personal chef. He turned out to be a good doctor too when my son burnt his hand on hot water! Souza would also bring us coffee to our room in the mornings ! Great treat. Raju the manager also was so accommodating, welcoming and helpful. We felt soooo at home, and chilled out. Definitely our favourite place in Sri Lanka. (Fantastic internet too, which is rare in Sri Lanka).

This place is located perfectly, only 50 meters from the beach! The breakfast is really good. However, the service could be a bit faster. Staff is friendly and helpful. We stayed 1 night in a small chalet and 2 nights in a bigger one. The small one was less warm, but very noisy. The bigger chalet was more private, but the mosquito-net was not really effective. The staff said they will replace it. We would recommend to go here as the price/quality is great!

This hotel is a true dime. The atmosphere is just what we were looking for: laid back, cosy and friendly. Location I think this location is perfect in terms of where to stay if you wish to stay at the beach near Trincomalee. There are lots of cafes and restaurants in the area. This place is not located right at the beach but very close (70 m walk). Room Really good - don’t expect luxury though. We stayed in one of the cabanas that has a double bed, a fan and a bathroom. The room is small but we didn’t mind as we didn’t come to stay inside the room. Breakfast We had breakfast included and we enjoyed different types of breakfast every morning. Staff Oh my - they are the best! So sweet and accommodating. I would come back again just for them. And if not for them, then for their lovely dog, Resma, who I fell in love with at first sight.

Very good spot ,perfect location , nice bungalows . The staff could be more welcoming, they seems to not really care about their guests. The breakfast is not worth the money it cost . You can find better food not far from the guesthouse , I don’t recommend specially the restaurant . It’s a good place to sleep and take a beer though!
