Given the dearth of good hotels in dusty Lumbini, this may be the most decent option available for now. But it is really just an overpriced, impersonal 2* chain hotel. First the few goods: The room size is comfortable, and breakfast is actually pretty good by Nepalese hotel standards. There is cable tv and beds are rather comfortable. Then the bads: Hot water is unreliable (it seems the hotel has the practice of turning off their hot water). Our room heater works some times, then suddenly goes into cooling mode by itself. The doors are thin so you can hear noisy neighbors (it seems guests here have propensity to speak loudly and bang their doors), more so if you have a room near the lobby. Service is uneven, sometimes okay but other times disappointing. In my opinion a rather overpriced stay for the type of stay. As other travellers have shared, it is a dusty 10min walk to Lumbini’s east gate (or a Rs200-300 ride). Not a major issue, but the road is unlit at night so better to have a torch if you want to walk. We don’t feel danger on that street but better to find a ride if solo ladies are heading out alone.…
Most people come to Lumbini just to visit the Maya Devi Temple which houses the ancient site of the Buddha's birthplace. The hotel is situated in a village and occupies a rather big area with a swimming pool and a vegetable garden. The environment is tranquil but the building is rather dilapidated. The room was not at all clean but the most annoying thing was the hot water supply, which was very unstable. Called the reception but it seemed that there was nothing they could do, which is understandable given the circumstances. The dinner and breakfast in buffet style were good enough to nourish tired bodies.
Although the access road was non-existant when we visited, this is a good place to stay for your visit to Lumbini's monasteries. The management is first class and incredibly helpful; the food's OK and the rooms fine.
This hotel is definitively not the most luxuous one, but the location is great and all the staff members are looking to make your stay the most enjoyable one. If you wish to get the authentic atmosphe of the city where Buddha was born, it is definitevely the right place where to stay.
Rooms are clean and specious. Breakfast is good, nothing special but what is there is well prepared and thought through. Swimming pool is clean and water is the right temperature. Bar is near the swimming pool, serving nice refreshments. Food in restaurant is good, but it is possible to order separate food from the bar, if you wants something different or you do not want a large meal (dinner has a fixed price).
