I stayed overnight at Gorkha Gaun in the recommendation of the owner of a previous place I’d stayed in. It’s a few km from the centre of Gorkha, which was fine for me. The hotel organised a cab into town. From there I was happy to explore and make my own way back. The room was comfortable, with the largest bed I’ve ever seen in my life! A terrace and a comfy chair to sit outside would be a good idea though. No air con - just a fan. This was ok as the room didn’t get too hot. Bathroom worked well. Nice shower. Wi-Fi so-so. Not too bad. It’s hard to give an accurate review, as I was the only person staying there. It felt eerily silent, and I didn’t really like being the sole focus of attention. Clearly with a few guests and a bit of a buzz around the place, things would feel very different. But the staff were friendly, the food was good, and I enjoyed sitting out with a beer after my hike. I hope things pick up for them soon.…
Had very good experince in the resort. the space and sorrounding is peaceful and is very good for a short break. the rooms and dining areas are neat. the continental food set was very nice. enjoyed the barbeque.
Stumbled upon this hidden gem while on a biking trip to Gorkha. Beautiful resort with impeccable service. The rooms are spacious and have been done in typical Nepali architecture with a view of the Himalayan range. We will be back soon.
everything is lovely about this resort, I was there twice in two years and it just keeps getting better The rooms are clean and nice Clean and luxurious toilets !! Awesome mountain views Lovely place to watch the view Room for improvement ummm the taste of the food and presentation. Friendly and helpful staffs. Must go !!
My friend and I stayed here for two nights over Tihar (Nepali holiday) and had a wonderfully restful time. In October, all the flowers are in bloom, which was stunning. I also love that the hotel is so eco-friendly with refillable shampoos and non-plastic wrapped soaps and a place we could refill our water bottles. These are all the things I look for in a place I want to stay at and they did a great job! Our cottage was tastefully decorated, the food was delicious and the staff very friendly and fun. We took a guided hike to Gorkha Palace and caught a car ride back. Our whole stay was lovely!
My husband and I recently spent time at this peacful, welcoming resort. From the moment we arrived the staff treated us as part of the family, with each member of staff ( and the owner) sitting and chatting at every opportunity. The room / house was spotless with quircky little touches. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. We were just sorry not to have had more time at this amazing place.
"Words can not express quite a lot of feelings, whereas a noise or tone or drone or sound, an accordion falling down a staircase, can somehow capture an emotion much better" John Lydon Quotes. One day is not enough.
Wonderful hosts. Beautiful view from all cottages of the Himalayan mountains. Great eco tourism example. Fantastic food. Nicely decorated rooms. Indeed, a place to rest and to recharge your batteries.
Gorkha Gaun was one of the best peaceful escapes I ever had. Loved all the small details gone to the design of the place, especially the door handles and locks and the shampoo containers. The food and services were also amazing. Can't wait to go back when the weather is all clear.
We arrived at Gorakha Gau Resort at 1630 on 8th Nov . From that moment till we left it at 0930 on 11th Nov . we thoroughly enjoyed each and every moment of our stay there . The Resort is a brain child of three enterprising people : Shri Pushkar Shreshtha , Salil Aryal and Keshav Kunwar . Pushkarji and Salilji live in Kathmandu , but promptly answered my each and every mail and minute query . This promptness I suppose runs through the veins of each team members of the Resort . That I will discuss later . Every morning Keshavji personally attended the Resort . He used to intermingle with the guests , asked their well beings , shared his experiences with them . He discussed with me how the entire Resort was rehabilitated after the 2015 earthquake . He explained me how it is economically viable to serve fresh food and meet . He told , if he would purchase meet in wholesale market , then he had to preserve it in refrigerator , so he would have to spend on fridge and electricity which is costly . So it is economical and healthy to purchase daily food requirement every morning . On first morning we wanted our bed tea at 0700 , next two mornings at 0630 ; our afternoon coffee at 1700 on first day and at 1630 on next two days ; dinner at 2000 . To our pleasant surprise , in this remote corner of the country we used to get our supplies at the dot of the time . On 9th Roshan Kunwar took me to the village walk at the exact predetermined time of 1500 . we visited one household . Being Bhaiduj I was offered Chicken , mutton , veg dish and millet liquor . I learnt that on this day married persons sport simple tika on their forehead , whereas unmarried ones have fancy tika . Next day we went to pay our respect to Gorakhanath and Mahakali . It was decided to have atrial at 1500 . When I approached the office , Anjila Rana told me Roshan had gone with Japanese tourists to Gorakha Darbar , so she would be my guide . Thus without wasting a single moment my trail yatra started . There are about 30 solar powered cottages built with boulders and stones available from the nearby quarries and rivers . Roof is covered with hand crafted slates . Floor was made of stones using mud mortar . Our cottage was spacious . The bed could accommodate three persons easily . The appreciable thing was the one quilt could protect all the three persons very comfortably . Every care was taken for any eventuality . As an example candle was provided alongwith lighter in addition to torches . Two very good umbrellas were also there for guests’ use . The door could be locked from outside and inside by an indegenious way . The food was great . Only suggestion is for pure vegetarians there was no other choice , except consuming toasts . Therefore Keshavji can consider providing at least corn flakes and milk . From our cottage we could have enjoyed Manaslu and Annapurna range . But due to bad weather , we could sea only Manaslu . But it was a great experience to take bed tea / breakfast / lunch enjoying the company of mighty Manaslu . We will never forget Gopal Gharti who promptly brought us our tea , coffee and dinner at the appointed time . Though management do not provide room service , looking to the health problem of my wife , the management provided the room service whole heartedly . I will visit this Resort again and again just to be relaxed and meet my friends , Kehavji , Roshan , Anjila , Gopal and Mighty Manaslu .…
