This hotel is decent but average, nothing special but the location right on Durbar square makes up for that! We only stayed here for one night and it seemed like we were the only guests at the time. In our room, one of the windows was missing and it started to get pretty cold at night. When we reported it, the staff came up to our room and placed a wooden panel and before bedtime, they brought us two hot-waterbottles which was very friendly. Breakfast on the rooftop terrace was delightful.

This place is very charming. The guesthouse is situated right in front of the beautiful Durbar Square. They don’t have rooms facing the square but the two restaurants and the rooftop restaurant has the most beautiful view on the square you can get. The staff is very pleasant and try to make you feel like home. The rooms are simple but clean. The bathroom is small and the shower has weak power but the location and the hostile staff compensates a lot. I could advise this guesthouse for one or two nights.

Really nice place to stay.
The water is hot but there isn't heating system.
The breakfast was really good and even the dinner.
It's really closed to the most important attraction of the place.

We had a very pleasant stay with a great location next to the main gate into Bhaktapur Durbar Square - one of the city states in the Kathmandu Valley and a beautiful place. The breakfast was great and sitting on the Deck on top of the Guest House in the evening with a beer watching the sun set over The Square was fun.

Had travelled with a friend and found the hotel clean and friendly staff. Stayed for 2 nights but have to say very comfortable and clean compare to other guest houses around. Checked few other hotels but couldn't satisfy ourselves so finally landed in this one and we didn't regret. Simple clean and with full of culture. Terrace has the best view from sunrise to sunset but to our bad luck we couldn't see the mountains. Simple and hygienic food so I highly recommend to everyone

Starting with location, it is excellently placed just off Durber square, but really peaceful and quiet and we felt very safe.
Also good was the attentive staff.
We only stayed 1 night, I know Jan is off peak but we seemed to be the only guests so maybe that is why the electricity was in such short supply - only on from 4pm-8pm and we left before it was switched on again at 12 next day. No hot water, and the rooms are cold, although they did bring a hot water bottle. Wifi can be 24hrs, but i think they switch it off once they think you have gone to bed - but if you phone them they will switch it back on straight away.
Also good was the attentive staff.

The Hotel is very with smart room and just next to the historic Durbar Square. Its a new but traditional style brick building surrounded by ancient courtyards and atmospheric streets.
For the money its good value; but the bit plus is the staff who have been helpful and accommodating. Food service has been unusually quick for Nepal; meals rather bland but OK. Breakfast starting at 7:300 was a bit late for me; but they were able to get breakfast earlier,
Internet access was OK in my room, compensating for the lack of a TV which does not interest me anyway.
I liked the photo gallery downstairs and the panoramic view from restaurant and roof; great for sunrise and people watching in Durbar Square.

I stayed in Khwapa Chhen in June 2014 with two other friends from Colorado, US. We were touring Nepal on bike. Rooms are quite spacious with comfortable beds. I love their bathrooms with black slate tiles. Even though is it right next to the Durbar Square, it is surprisingly very peaceful and quiet. The only downside is they have no TV in the rooms. Their restaurant is on the top floor so there is a great view of the Durbar Square. It's a simple beautiful place and reasonable price. I absolutely recommend.

The best possible location opposite the gates of the inner city. Stunning views of the mountains , if it’s clear and the old town from the rooftop restaurant . Large rooms, comfortable beds charming staff. One of the best guest houses we have ever been to.
Be warned that you must pay the (currently) $15 entrance fee to Durbar Square be able to enjoy this property because it is considered to be in the core of the old city.
As such though it is an enviable location.

Yes the entrance ticket for the Bhaktapur city USD 15 shall have to pay to get-in in Khwapachhen as the Local Municipality insist us that we are located inside the core city and the square and the monuments are beautifully overseen from our rooftop however we have been always trying to request to not to apply the ticket charge for the guest who loves to enjoy their stay with us but the local municipality is not considering our voice and the major effect we are losing some percentage of business. Very nice cosy place. We had everything we needed in the room (maybe water boiler with tea could make it extraordinary). Very nice place, close to the square, near restaurants and attractions.
