We are a great place to experience the beauty of Northern Laos. Our guesthouse offers several different types of guest rooms to suit your needs. Zuela is constructed in the traditional Lao style from brick and teak wood, making our rooms both authentic and comfortable. We are centrally located in Luang Namtha directly across from the Luang Namtha night market, yet tucked away from the busyness of the main street. The guesthouse offers an array of services for the convenience of our guests including bicycle rental, motorbike rentals (daily or one way to several destinations), transportation arrangements, and an on-site reputable tour guide service. The on-site restaurant serves a wide selection of both traditional Lao-style cuisine, Thai food, and Western favorites.
The owner is super-helpful and speaks good english. Our first stay first room was fine. Our second stay second room had poor screens and we were bitten to death. The restaurant is nothing impressive, don't bother with espresso drinks. In conclusion, the place is average super-cheap Laos, but you always have to check screens, A/C, and for towels. I would have given it three stars but the owner is super-accommodating (e.g. allowed us to rent bicycles for 1/2 day not normally offered). PLEASE NOTE you can avoid plastic pollution by refilling from cooler at checkin desk and NOT using the plastic water bottles provided in room.

I've probably stayed here five times since I first reviewed the property in 2017. It is a popular choice for western tourists and backpackers and has everything a traveler needs including a restaurant, bike and motorcycle rental, and laundry service. I was very pleased to have dropped off my laundry late in the afternoon and received it at 07:00 the next day. The rooms and bathrooms are simple, typical of budget accommodations that can be found throughout the region. However, they are clean enough and perfectly fine for a night or two. At a walk-in of 150,000 LAK, I really couldn't find anything to complain about.

A very welcoming stay and lovely people. This was our second guesthouse in Namtha and definitely the most comfortable. The onsite restaurant was well stocked and he food was tasty for breakfast lunch and dinner. Very conveniently located. The rooms were plain but clean and the services of on-site bike rentals, and laundry made this a better choice for my group than our first stay. The family is very nice and helpful. Thank you for a great visit to the region! If you can get one of the front rooms the balconies are very nice.

Zuela guest house is a comfortable and pretty place to stay. The service is good even though few staff speak English. The rooms are plain and perfectly clean. The restaurant serves tasty food. Zuela is well positioned just around the corner from some of the main hiking companies. Great value for money.

I read about Zuela GH on a Lonely Planet guide. Once arrived in Luang Namtha I checked out this property and I really appreciated its architecture and facilities. The room I got was very big, comfortable and with ensuite bathroom. At the end of the main aisle you will find a bright, broad and comfortable porch. Seats are really nice. Next to the reception there is the restaurant of the guest house. Food is mediocre and expensive.

Zeula is a well run and pleasant guest house with clean and spacious rooms. We turned up without having booked a room and it was about a third of the price of booking.com. Well worth just turning up if you can. The room was a little dark as there wasn't much natural light and the main complaint is that I barely slept since there is a farm right behind and there's a BROKEN cockerel which starts calling at 3am until about 10am. It's very loud and impossible to sleep through. I know cockerels are common in Laos but this was the most constant I have heard. Overall it's a good base if you are looking to do some trekking or biking etc, but not somewhere to stay for a peaceful night sleep.

I stayed here 2 nights and it was clean and comfortable. I was in one of the older, cheaper rooms and it was fine. It also included a very decent breakfast at the attached restaurant. Staff were very friendly and accommodating with bus tickets and laundry. The restaurant had a really good choice of meals with quick service and tasty food - I recommend eating here and staying here when in Luang Namtha.

Most of the staff were really unmotivated and some unfriendly. The bathroom, especially the toilet is rather dirty. Don't rent a motorbike from the shop located at the guesthouse! They insist of keeping your passport as a deposit and while we stayed there a couple had a strong argument to get their passports back. Also it's not the cheapest and friendliest. There are other rental services where you can rent without our passport for deposit for a better price. The breakfast was really nice and the wooden room looked comfortable. The location is near to a lot of tour agencies and the night market.

We can explain about the problem that happen to the gentle man, he rent the auto bike to go around Luangnamtha with the 70.000kip/day with two people in one bike, they go to the dirty road (bumpy road) where the normal bike can't go, except motor cross, when the bike broken in the remote area about 200 km away they left the bike there and come back would like the passport back, we said we had to get the bike back first then we can see about the problem. We went to got the bike back we paid for the pick up truck600.000kip and took 7 hours . They insisted and would like the passport back and got agry saying we were not good to them when we didn't give back. We have the condition before renting, they signed and accepted, but they refused. we solve the problem, they just paid half 300.000kip for bringing the bike back, we paid for fixing the case doing by them, they used the bike to the road that not good for autobike, good for moto cross 250cc up. The reader can understand about this case.

We did the three day tour in Nahm Ha national park with two days of jungle hiking and one day of kayakking and it was truely amazing. The surroundings were beautiful and the guides went out of their way to make this trip a once in a lifetime experience. They know everything about the culture of the villages and what you can find in the forest and they cooked the best food we ever had on a trip like this! We definity recommend to book this trip!

We had a VERY bad experience with renting a scooter at Zuela GH. We rented a scooter and on day two it suddenly broke down. We contacted the GH and they offered to pick us up, for ‘only the price of the benzine’, which according to them was $50,-. That means their car uses 1 liter per 3 km; I don’t think so.. When we made our own way back to the GH and asked back my passport, they did not want to give it back, they said we had to go to the police and they were really unfriendly. They called us bad people and basically told us we are stupid as ‘every educated person from a developed country should know that you can drive a automatic scooter only on the asphalt..’ (we took a secondary road) When I told them that the man renting us the scooter didn’t mention anything about that, not even when I asked about it, the owner replied that only stupid people ask (that kind of) questions and he asked if he also had to explain me how to eat or drink.. As you can read they were very unprofessional and really rude. Because I needed my passport back I ended up paying, after negotiating! So if you ask me, don’t rent a scooter here.…
