We stayed at the Flycatcher Castle while my wife rode a four day stage race in Graskop. Now not much happens in Graskop and other than Harry's Pancakes ( completely overrated in my opinion ) there is very little else in Graskop. Being here for 5 days we wanted something homely and boy did we find it. The castle is... More

After your drive through the low veld, pine tree forests and the mountains and then the small country town of Graskop, the last but very last think you expect is a castle at the edge of town overlooking the open "veld" and forest. As you come around the corner and see the towers of Flycatcher Castle you know, that you... More

This venue is one of the most beautiful (and most unexpected) places I have yet stayed in. A grand baronial castle, complete with it's own chapel, beautiful gardens, magnificent artwork and statues, and the most accomplished and attentive host. Our room was magnificent with a larger-than-kingsize bed and a grand bathroom in one of the turrets of the castle. There... More

We had an exceptional time! Even though some things went wrong and we could not have the room we originally booked, Manie and his team went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and at home. They set up an extra special romantic dinner, served us an amazing four course meal and went through so much trouble to... More

Travelling as a woman on my own can be daunting at times. Being a guest at Flycatcher Castle smoothed away any possible discomfort in this regard. Manie is a gracious host, respected my privacy and was flexible to accommodate my needs. I stayed for 3 nights and on the last night felt the need to have dinner on my own.... More

We stayed at Flycatcher Castle for 4 nights as part of our motorbike road trip. We were greeted by Castle owner, keeper and chef Manie. The castle has a magnificent view of this beautiful part of South Africa with immaculately kept gardens and bird feeders to attract even more of the abundant bird life in the area. Food was excellent,... More

My self and my fiancé stayed for 2 nights at flycatcher castle, Manie, the host pulled every stop to make us and the other guests feel welcome and at home. The gourmet food prepared by Manie himself was an experience on its own. We have never experienced such personal service in any other hotel in South Africa or overseas. We... More

Perfectly positioned to explore the panorama route from. What stood out was the evenings spent in the beautiful garden, chatting with newly made friends over a glass of wine, watching the stars late into the night, and the meals - manie was so thoughtful in his execution of perfect 4 course dinners, adapted to my vegetarian diet- some of the...
