Part of a wonderful reserve that offers a range of experiences. The tented camp is down in the bush, next to a waterhole and close to the animals (including water buck, unusually for the area). We went on a game drive and saw a number of Rhino, but we particularly enjoyed our morning walk with Bono, a very interesting guide.... More

We enjoyed this camp very much. The tent was very comfortable. We especially liked the water bottle in our bed. If you are here is July, it is very cold at night and you do need a warm coat. Because there are rhinos and lions around you need a guide back to your tent when it is dark. The shower... More

This is a good place - easy to find and great fun driving through the concession to the camp. This was our first experience of self drive and it's very exciting! A warm (and the customary cool cloth) welcome awaits. We had 3 days here which was great - could have probably done another one and wish we had opted... More

This is on a private Ongava reserve so it is more private yet very close to Etosha Game Reserve...thus the best of both worlds. The water hole on site can get very busy and we delayed dinner one night as 5 Rhinos including a baby decided to come get a drink. The animals take turns, one group waiting up trail... More

ongava tented camp is a surprise. Actually a luxurious tent, with all comforts and nicely decorated. Good food and a hot water bottle under our sheets each night to warm up is an excellent idea! Staff very friendly and helpful. The water hole right in front of the main area is an excellent opportunity to view widlife so close by.... More

The tents take "glamping" to a new level, with comfortable bed, electricity, and full bathroom with a flush toilet and a shower. The camp is fully open to the animals, and guests are asked to not leave their tents at night without a staff escort who carries a rifle. The Ongava Game Reserve is next door to Etosha. Like most... If you decide to go see Etosha Park (which you should do), you ought to stay at Ongava tented camp. It is located right next to Etosha and is pure magic. OTC has 8 or 9 "tents" so the place is small enough to enjoy the calm of the place. There is a water hole facing the restaurant so you... More

Ongava tented camp is not the most luxurious of camps but is very worthwhile to visit because of all the game that is just going to visit the water hole for drink while you are having dinner or are reading a book next to the swimming pool. During the time we spend in the camp we had lions, kudu, baboons,... More

The tents were really rooms of canvas with hot and cold running water and electricity. The communal area even had wifi. I enjoyed the communal table for meals. As a solo traveller it gave me a chance to meet everyone. The highlight is the water hole in the middle of camp. When you are not going out on drives in... More

The level of luxury of Ongava Tented Camp is matched only by the wildlife. We did 1 day safari during the wet season. We spent the morning in Etosha and afternoon in Ongava. We saw 9 rhinos, including the chance to walk beside 2! As well, we saw 24 lions, one massive bull elephant, every kind of antelope, ten ostriches,... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Ongava Tented Camp is tucked into a hidden valley at the foot of a dolomite hill in Ongava Game Reserve bordering Etosha National Park. Eight large comfortable Meru-style tents all have en-suite facilities, open air showers and private verandas; the family unit sleeps four. The main area, built of stone, canvas and thatch, fronts onto a much-frequented waterhole; watching wildlife coming to drink from here or from the swimming pool is a favourite pastime.Ongava's proximity to Etosha allows for game drives in the National Park and on the Ongava Reserve itself. Other possibilities include guided walks, birding and spending time in hides. Ongava holds one of the largest rhino custodianships for the Namibian government in the country and is one of the few private game reserves in southern Africa where guests can see both black and white rhino. ... more   less
