Detailed Reviews
We have been vacationing in the Upper Peninsula for more than thirty years and have stayed at Interlaken Resort since 1997. Under new ownership, the resort looks fabulous. The Loon’s Nest, a communal building, has been refurbished and is an ideal venue for the weekly BBQ Night and Music Night. The cabins have been given face-lifts and the dock area has been improved. During my most recent visit at the end of August, my family went paddle boarding, kayaking, boating, swimming, and took a day trip to Tehquamenon Falls and Whitefish Point. Sarah and Brandon were gracious hosts and went out of their way to make their guests feel comfortable. We ate very good pizza at Moose du Nord in McMillan, yummy whitefish at Timber Charlie’s in Newberry, and a delicious, upscale meal at Chamberlains in Curtis. We enjoyed beautiful sunsets over crystal-clear Big Manistique Lake and built a campfire every night and marveled at the stars and satellites. There was no grocery store in the area, but the IGA Express in Helmer was fully stocked and sufficient for our needs. Cell service was spotty, but wi-fi was available in the Activity Room. We took our kids here when they were young and this year we brought our 8yo grandson. He had a grand time and can’t wait for next summer!

We had our Labor Day week vacation plans change unexpectedly, so we decided to drive up to the UP. We had been up there over the winter and wanted to go back in the summer. Our friend said he niece owns this place and told us to check it out. We called on Tuesday and they had availability! My fiance, our 4 yr old daughter and I checked in Wednesday. We were more than amazed by our accommodations and view. They are 45 minutes from Pictured Rocks & Tahquamenon Falls, which were the 2 places we wanted to go. We rented a pontoon on our last day there, even though it was very windy. Manistque Lake is beautiful. Our daughter loved the play room and loved swimming in the lake (although I sat on the beach in a sweatshirt). We are looking forward to planning another trip soon!

Our rental had to cancel on us the day before we were to arrive, and Martin at "Interlaken" came through with flying colors! Not only did he accommodate all 7 of us the day before we needed it, it was Christmas Day, and he made it happen. He set us up in two different cabins, both of which were extremely clean! Both cabins had great heat, comfy beds, and a fully equipped kitchen, which we made a huge Christmas dinner in. Martin really made us feel at home. The resort itself it fantastic, and very affordable. The lake right off the cabins is beautiful, and all the little roads within the resort were perfectly snow plowed. My family plans to visit here again! I hope you will as well.

My family of 3 (myself, husband and teenager) checked into cabin #5 June 10th for a week and had a fantastic time. The cabin was clean, with new beds, stove, TV and superior cookware in the kitchen. The cabin had 2 bedrooms, 1 bath and large kitchen which was open to the living room. It had a huge back porch that overlooked the lake.
What's not to love when you have such a great place to stay. The new owners are fantastic, and you can tell that they have a lot of pride in their resort. On Wednesday night we had a fantastic meal with them along with the other guests staying on sight for the week(s).
There is plenty to do if you would like to stay at the resort - playscape, swings, kid hot-tub (enclosed), adult only hot-tub (enclosed), pontoon boat, small fishing boats, kayaks, lounge chairs and hiking trails. The lake is fantastic - very clean, and stays shallow for quite some time in various areas.
The resort is centrally located from all the "to-dos" in the U.P. - which makes it even better. Close by is Taylor Market which offers everything you will need to stock the kitchen in the cabin for a week.
My family and I cannot say enough great things about the resort. We can't wait to go back. Run, don't walk, to book your stay.

We have stayed here for three years now. We will keep coming back. There are so many things to do at the resort--fishing, kayaks, pontoon boats, beach, etc. the location is also great for taking day trips--you are within a two hour drive to so many things!

Our family stayed at this resort for a week in June. The owners were very nice and provided everything needed for a great family vacation. Lots of things to do for the kids without a million rules, just freedom to be kids. Our cabin was very clean and the owners provided a very friendly atmosphere, welcoming everyone. If we lived closer, we would definitely return.

Needed accommodations to spend Thanksgiving with family. Martin and the Interlaken Resort made us feel so welcome and went the extra mike in every way. The cabin was great and for the price of a nice room my family had the space and privacy of a small two bedroom house with a deck overlooking the lake. Even the coffee and snacks were great too.

Our group could not say enough good things about our recent stay. We staying twice in two weeks and experienced the cabins and the loft upstairs. Both accommodations served our missions-to have fun, be comfortable, and able to relax without concern. The hot tub house is a bonus for winter post snowmobiling trips. Everything worked as expected and the owner went out of his way to make our trip perfect! Can't say enough about the owners effort to make our trip happen and enjoyable.

Cabin was larger then I expected, new owners have been busy updating and making this place shine again. New queen beds, new linens, new stoves, new towels, etc. Easy to get off/on the snowmobile trails, easy for ice fishing.

"Lower cabins have lake view, but are noisier as all the activities are there. Upper cabins are a bit bigger, and quieter, but no lake view."Read full review
"The cabins on the lake (lower cabins) are the older ones and a bit smaller, but they would be my preference over the ones on the hill (upper cabins). We stayed in an upper cabin and have absolutely no complaints and would do so again. However the lower ones have a bit more of a nostalgic feel, and being able to see the main lawn and playground would make it easier to let our younger children play out there on their own as we could still keep an eye on them. But in all honesty you cannot find a bad cabin here."Read full review
