Once again, we stayed at the charming National House Inn in historic Marshall, Michigan. From the minute you step into the candle-lit lobby and see the fireplace blazing, you sense the history of the building. From the original plank flooring, handcrafted paneled cupboards and antique decor to the intriguing layout of this historic building, the atmosphere evokes an earlier time... More

Unbelievably charming Bed and Breakfast that served as a stagecoach stop in 1835, and many things over the years. The National House Inn boasts period furnishings in various rooms and suites with bath facilities modern...but not exactly state of the art. There are two dozen unique rooms, and we've stayed in almost every one! The breakfast is to die for,... More

I'll start with what a great place this is and the owner Barb really cares about the Inn and her customers. When we stopped to see if we could get in at 1:40 since we had eaten at Schuller's noon buffet, a lady whose name starts with a D told us check in is 3:00. She proceeds to tell us... More

This old bed & breakfast inn has about the longest history of any inn/hotel in Michigan. It was built in 1835, and was the halfway point between Detroit & Chicago on the stagecoach trail. It has been restored with most modern conveniences (cable TV, shower/tub, central heating, etc), while still maintaining the ambience of an historical inn. Pictures of George... More

We recently stayed one night in the National House Inn. We had a lovely, well appointed room. The Inn was very quiet, the hosts were quite helpful. Breakfast was wonderful and the historic memorabilia on the walls and in every nook and cranny are well worth a look. There is a great deal of history dating to the Civil War... More

I must be up front - I wanted a place to stay within walking distance of Dark Horse Brewery, otherwise I would be designated driver! While I am a hotel person, I threw caution the wind and stayed at the National House (a 10 minute walk to Dark Horse in the event readers are interested). This Inn is historic and... More

The National House Inn is a wonderful place to stay. The Bed and Breakfast is awesome. Rooms are updated, even though the Inn was built in 1835. The breakfasts were wonderful, and the staff very welcoming.

Recently stayed one night while travelling between Detroit and Chicago. The property is run more as a boutique hotel rather than as a traditional bed and breakfast. The inn has a lot of character and is very interesting and comfortable. We had a suite which was large and very nicely decorated. The only reason I can't give it five stars... More

Picture 1835 and you are there - hand-hewn beams, creaky stairs, beautifully-appointed rooms, but the 1976 renovation makes it very comfortable and simply lovely. The innkeeper served our breakfast in the cozy dining room and shared stories with us. We had the Charles Gorham Room on the first floor just off the front porch and overlooking the Brooks Fountain. Street... More

I stayed at this inn with friends. I highly recommend it to travelers in the Marshall area. Breakfast was excellent and we were treated to popcorn in the evening! My friends and I enjoyed tea in the afternoon, too. The atmosphere is wonderful and the innkeeper was so nice. I am planning to take my husband back sometime soon! Check... More
