Detailed Reviews
Very welcoming, clean, comfortable stay. This was our 1st trip during COVID and were a bit hesitant. No need to worry at all. Sue & Ken kept all rooms & shared spaces clean. They were very personalbe & non intrusive. We choose room #5. Both bedroom & bathroom were a good size & both were immaculate. The bed was super comfy, water pressure good & loved that we had a window that you could open at night for some fresh air. Breakfast both mornings was great. I had requested the finish panackes be made 1 morning during our stay (via email prior to arriving) and was pleasently surprised when we had that the 1st morning of our stay. The sauna & bathrooms downstairs were amazing. I wish we had more time to enjoy that. There are so many things to do in the area & found the location perfect. Everything for us was amazing & could only recommend 2 things & believe me these are 2 very small things & partial to us. A ceiling fan in the room would be great to help circulate air. We would definitely recommend this b&b to everyone & are already thinking about brining my parents next year. Overall a superb 2 night stay!

My wife and I just finished a three day stay in Room #1. Everything we experienced affirms the reviews already posted. A few things that may not be written about in these reviews. Ken built a castle. The house has six inch concrete walls that are steel reinforced. He also put outdoor insulated doors on each room entrance. And he put sound insulation in the walls. All adds up to a very quiet house and rooms. Also I learned that the house has this hot water system where there is a storage tank and the hot water is constantly circulating through the pipes - so when you turn the shower water on it is instantly hot - I experienced this for the first time and it's great. Also there is a router in every room for great internet. The location is great being right across the street from the lake. Cross country skiing, restaurants, shops and walks by the lake are some of the things we enjoyed. Ken and Sue are great. The breakfasts by the gas fireplace are amazing. We can't wait to go back. Why would anyone stay in a hotel when they could stay in this castle? Thanks Ken and Sue!

We wanted to spend the night in Marquette on a recent road trip and after researching bed & breakfasts in the area, we booked a room at The Nestledown. We were not disappointed. Our accommodations were lovely and sparkling clean, the location right across the road from Lake Superior was perfect for taking walks along the shore, not far from restaurants yet in a quiet locale, and our innkeepers were wonderful...friendly, knowledgeable and happy to assist in every way. Our morning breakfast was excellent and filling, and I’m going to try replicating some of the menu items when we get home. Altogether, we had a relaxing, restful experience and hope to return on our next visit to the area. Kudos to The Nestledown!

A calming welcome from the time you spot the Inn along the lake! Guests are warmly greeted, the Inn Keepers are charming and well versed on what the area has to offer to meet your interests, with maps and guide books on hand. Fresh coffee and an array of teas are always available, and fresh treats await your return at day's end. Beautiful rooms are well appointed, appear to be freshly painted and spotless. No need to set an alarm...you will awake refreshed and eager for Sue's scrumptious breakfast! Can't wait to return.

Nestledown Inn is simply perfect. The inn is adorable, pristine, well-located right across from the lake, and cozy as can be. The breakfasts were ample and divine. The innkeepers make the guests feel right at home. Every single detail is planned for comfort, right down to where the hooks and towel bars are in the bathroom and where the outlets are in the bedroom. We could not have been more comfortable or pleased. An exceptional inn.

We stay in a lot of Air BnBs in our travels and, frankly, it was nice to be pampered a little at a traditional bed and breakfast. Sue met us at the door and checked us in and showed us around. She knows a lot about the area and has a lot of suggestions for restaurants, hikes and things to do. We stayed in Room 1, a king size room on the lower level with a large bathroom with a tub/shower combination. It’s right off the dining room, but we didn’t notice any noise from other guests. However, we were woken up by guests walking around overhead. Some blackout curtains would also have been nice because the room was not quite dark enough. The bed was very comfortable. The entire home was very clean. Tea and hot chocolate are available 24-hours; coffee is put out at 7:00 a.m. It would have been nice to have coffee available 24 hours as well for early risers (like myself) or if a guest wanted something besides tea in the afternoon. Sue puts out a dessert every night, which is a nice extra touch. Given the price of the rooms, I thought breakfast would be a little more elaborate. But breakfast is simple—baked eggs in a ham cup, lemon scones and watermelon one day, scrambled eggs, bacon, cantaloupe and toast the second day—but it was good.

The Nestledown was a wonderful bed and breakfast. We stayed in the main floor room and it was spacious, quiet, and clean. The breakfast was amazing and the hosts were knowledgeable of the area and extremely personable. I would highly recommend this B and B and I have stayed in numerous bed and breakfasts. It rates as one of the best!

My newlywed husband and I decided to get away for a few days to decompress from the stress of planning and executing our wedding. Nestledown was recommended by a friend in the area. We couldn't have been happier!
Sue and Ken were very accommodating hosts with great suggestions of places to see in the area. As a gay couple traveling in the U.P., we were concerned about perhaps feeling uncomfortable. But, our hosts always made us feel very welcome! Also, in these days of COVID-19, we felt very safe and comfortable with their house rules (which all of the guests abided by—thank you!).
Located just steps away from the lakefront, it's a great place to watch a sunrise, read a book or meditate while listening to the waves lap up onto the shore. It's a lovely walk (or very quick drive) to downtown Marquette.
We had The Suite (because the other smaller rooms were booked—and, hey...it was our honeymoon!). Very comfortable, clean, quiet and tastefully decorated with a Scandinavian flair. Breakfasts were always very tasty and plentiful. If you go, I hope you're lucky enough to get the baked Finnish Pancakes. Yum!

We stayed in the cottage and had a very relaxing two nights. Five of us total (2 adults and 3 kids 7, 6, and 4). Ken and Sue set up extra sleeping arrangements for two of our children-each kid had a personal sleeping area. Breakfast was filling and the 7 p.m. snack hit the spot. The best part was chatting with Ken and Sue during breakfast-they made us feel welcome. We'll book more nights at Nestledown in the summer! Thank you, Sue and Ken!

This was only my second experience at a B&B. The place is simply decorated in a countryish motif. We had the suite which has a large living room area with table and chairs, sofa, chairs and a nice sized king sized bedroom. The bathroom was large with 2 sinks. Everything you want from a hotel room to make for a comfortable if not luxurious stay. Good lighting, places for toiletries, places to read, to eat, a full length mirror. The place has a lovely sauna area and lots of seating area in common rooms and outside. Lake Superior is located across the way with benches. It is 1.5 miles to walk into town along Lake on a lovely path. Breakfasts are tasty but simple, scrambled eggs, toast, bacon and fruit one day and pancakes, sausage, fruit and yogurt another day. It would be nice to have some blackout curtains in bedroom to keep out morning light. We enjoyed our stay.

Hello, thanks for the contact and question. I am sorry, but we do not have a pet friendly Inn. We are protecting those that do have allergies that also want to stay here. Some folks are highly allergic. We do not have any pets ourselves in the house. We appreciate you checking with us.
