We stayed here from May 15th thru August 20th for a travel employment contract. The first month wasn't that bad. The water was full of iron but useable until the campgrounds filled up, Then it was brown sludge coming out of the hook up. I...More
If you want to see awesome stone work you need to come see this place.
We stopped just for the day to talk with the owner and carver.
Easy place to find. The Mount Rushmore Stone carvings were my favorite.
We booked/canceled reservation within a 12 hour period and have been charged for the full stay of over 450.00. I called to get reimbursed and he said he would have his "office girl do this"-that was a month ago and no reimbursement. Credit card will...More
Had reservations and had a choice of 2 sites overlooking Lake Superior. Both with a beautiful view. The whole campground reminded me of grounds of the 60's. Not laid out like a sub division. Jeff was an interesting guy who had "a strong work ethic...More

Yes. We went to UP in Popup and didn't make reservations anywhere. I was calling around on our way up from central WI. Called and no answer. Owner called back and asked what I wanted. I was able to get a discount for site as it was storming that day. Place was pretty empty when we got there. Sites aren't bad but bathrooms were never cleaned. Towel dispenser never changed and no soap in women's room for over a week. If the owner spent more time on upkeep it could be a nice place. Lots of weird, quirky things in the park. When we checked in he only asked our first names, never filled out a form or anything. Seemed strange. If you stay I would strongly suggest cash only and no credit cards. No need for reservations as it didn't appear too many will stay here for long.
