Cedar Motor Inn

Certificate of Excellence
A pleasant blend of rustic charm and modern accommodations awaits you at the Cedar Motor Inn. Family-owned over 45 years, our small-scale AAA diamond approved hotel is in Marquette, nestled against the north woods near the shores of Lake Superior. We offer the vacationer, the traveler or a business person 43 rooms to choose from, including a housekeeping cottage suite that can accommodate 2-4 people. Kids and adults will love our heated indoor pool, spa and steam sauna and a wonderful sun patio to catch that summer tan. Poolside rooms are available and all of our rooms have cable TV & HBO, hair dryers, air conditioning, coffee and wireless internet. Stroll down in your slippers through our cedar hallways each morning to enjoy a simple continental breakfast in our Wilderness Room. During the winter months, we have a ski waxing room set up for our guests and plug-ins for your vehicle on those cold U.P. nights. All of our rooms are non-smoking, clean, comfortable and cozy.

First class place - room spacious and best furnished of any motel we stayed. Two vanities, 2 recliners, a desk and a table. Comfy bed. We could have stayed here longer than the one night. Breakfast was nothing unusual but the attendant made sure it was replenished. Highly recom

How nice of you to comment on a recent stay with us. My apologies for the delay in responding - it got mixed in with other emails. We're so glad you had an enjoyable time and we appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts. Breakfast is a challenge for us without a kitchen but we offer what we can to "get you going."

We generally try to stay in locally-owned inns when we travel. Cedar Motor Inn has been in the same family for over 50 years. Based on reviews, we gave this one a try. Our room was very clean and comfortable and the desk attendant was very friendly, even offering some sigh

We had a wonderful room with a king bed, 2 recliners, an extra counter and sink outside of the bathroom, a small table and a small desk. There was plenty of room to unpack and move about comfortably. They provided plenty of amenities in the room (shampoo, conditioner, etc) and sa

We have stayed at this property multiple times and usually for a crisis response with our working dogs. Since our first deployment to the death of a student, we've chosen the Cedar Inn for our stays. The staff always remember us and our mission in the community and make us feel

How close to the UP200 are you?
We are 3 miles from downtown (the start of the UP200). The UP200 is one of America's premier 12-dog, mid-distance sled dog races and draws mushers from around the United States and Canada.

Are you close to a snowmobile trail? If so, can we ride from your parking lot or would we have to trailer them to a trailhead?
Good morning! We are not on the snowmobile trail (I believe Holiday inn, Econo lodge and America's best) are the only ones in the Marquette/Harvey area that are on or near the trail. Marquette Township law states that no snowmobiles or 4-wheelers can ride along US-41W. You can however trailer to the Lowe's parking lot about 1 mile west from here and park your trailer for the day and pick up the trail from there. If you'd like to place a reservation we require a valid credit/debit card. Thank you and I hope you have a wonderful day!

What is included for the continental breakfast?
Thank you for the question. While the definition of continental breakfast is traditionally coffee, juice and a croissant, we have gone beyond that; although since we do not have a health department approved kitchen, or the capacity to build one, we're still a bit limited. Guests have asked for the ability to sit and enjoy their coffee, so we moved breakfast from the lobby to our conference room. Now they can make an easy selection from our items, sit at a table and watch TV or check-out local brochures and plan their day. Because of past experience, we switched to packaged items and purchase them from Gordon Foods Service. This is safer and cleaner for our guests than having food exposed to the elements and affords us the ability to offer fresh products every day. Our continental includes blueberry and chocolate muffins, four kinds of danish, milk, apple and orange juice, assorted oatmeal flavors, Kellogg's and General Mills cereals, red and green apples, oranges (bananas when they’re not too green in the store), 10 different teas, coffee, decaf, granola bars and chocolate biscotti sticks. Ours is a family-owned hotel that caters to folks who look for a comfortable place to stay that they can afford. Then if they want a traditional breakfast, Marquette has great places who would love to have them visit.
