This unique property was developed into a charming boutique hotel in 2004. In 2008 a 50 seat restaurant was added. The pub is situated in the "below street level" space. The rooms are generous with classic decor and 20 foot ceilings. There are standard, fireplace and suite accommodations to chose from. There is a large lobby over looking the main corner in the downtown. This property is a short walk from the Lake Michigan Shore. A Riverwalk/boardwalk is situated just a few steps in front of the hotel for your strolling pleasure. A Casino is located within 7 minutes and their shuttle will pick you up! Rooms are set up with coffee, alarm clocks, cable television, dvd player, WiFi. 4 rooms and 2 suites offer an electric fireplace. Linens are lush, mattresses were custom made for comfort. Please know, due to our Historical designation Elevators were not required. Restored staircases lead you one or 2 levels up to your room.

What a hidden gem! This B&B makes you feel like you have been transported back in time. Back in time but without giving up modern conveniences. The bed was so comfortable! We checked in after the normal hours, but we’re able to pick up our key at the pub that is underneath the inn. The welcome snack package was greatly appreciated. Our room was clean and huge - had sitting room with fireplace with table and chairs in the turret. For as old as this building is, there is not an overwhelming smell of dust or mildew. They have done an awesome job to restore this landmark in the heart of the downtown. Please note: there are no elevators and in our room (4E) there were 3 additional stairs. Nothing that hindered us but just an FYI for anyone who may have mobility concerns.

We love the old world charm of this small hotel in a historical building in downtown Manistee. The woodwork is beautiful. Our room was cozy, comfortable & filled with light thanks to a big window overlooking quant downtown Manistee. Our party rented two rooms. We checked in with the front desk, but found that one of the rooms had not been cleaned. The unmade bed been had been slept in and there were dirty towels in the bathroom. There are no phones in the rooms, so we went downstairs to the front desk to let them know. We were leaving soon, so they serviced the room while we were out. They apologized and said we would be given a discount, which they did not follow through with. The other room had a dirty bathroom floor-hairs on the floor and popcorn under the bead, and they did not have any soap or shampoo in the bathroom. A little additional cleaning and maintenance could go a long way in making this lovely hotel into a wonderful place to stay. We also wished they had either nicer coffee service in the room (include liquid coffee creamer), or have coffee available in the lobby. We woke up on Sunday morning and there was no business in the area that sold coffee. We had to drive to get coffee, but would have enjoyed buying a good cup of coffee and walking along the nearby river walk. rating as 4 stars because I’m hoping the missteps are simply a result of the current staffing crisis in the service industry. I hope we have another occasion to stay in Manistee, and if we do, we would stay there again.

Hi there! Thank you for staying with us and we do appreciate the review! I apologize for some of the issues we found as we are experiencing a major shortage in staff right now which has forced us to limit our lobby hours. You will be issued your discount for the inconvenience of waiting for your room to be cleaned. Again I apologize for the issues and please know they will be addressed! Thank you again!

We have talked about staying at the Ramsdell Inn for years. It’s such a beautiful and historic building in downtown Manistee. So we decided to go for the weekend to celebrate our anniversary, and stayed in the Ramsdell Suite. While I really want to give a break for the Covid year we have just gone through, there are so many things that could easily be done differently here to give patrons a better experience. Mainly it is that the staff is disinterested and so the customer service was mediocre. The in-room instructions say they will make up your bed and service the room if you put out the “service please” tag. We did, no service happened. We asked for extra coffee pods for the next morning and for 2 missing or burned out lightbulbs to be replaced. They were, but our room was still not serviced. We asked about the internet several times as it never worked in our room. Finally I tried it down in the lobby on the way out and it worked. I asked the girl at registration if it’s possible that the signal just didn’t reach the top floor. She told me that she never has any problems getting internet on the top floor, my husband said probably router needs to be reset, and she repeated that she doesn’t have any problems getting internet on that floor. Implication- the problem is you. Well, ok then. We were not able to get WiFi all weekend, couldn’t even pull up the network on our devices. Hubby has IT history, so it’s not us. It is SO easy to just apologize, thank us for staying, say you hope we will come again, and then we would not have left feeling negatively. We really wanted to love it. But between the limitations under Covid (awful in-room coffee, no other options) and the rude hotel desk staff, it just was not a great experience.

We stayed at the Ramsdell over the weekend as an escape from being locked down at home. We had the Holister room and it was lovely - spacious, fireplace, fridge and king bed. Since there wasn't any in person dinning, we ordered food from TJ's which is just below the Inn. The food was great and the people working there were super friendly and wanted to make sure we had everything we needed in our room - they even gave us half/half for our coffee in the morning. The rooms and common places in the Inn were all clean and we felt very secure with their cleaning processes - fear not - and book a room!

We stayed with 3 couples last weekend and loved everything. Lindsey the owner was great...running around doing everything from cleaning the rooms to answering the phone and working in the restaurant downstairs. The lobby area is beautiful. Two of us had King rooms, The Jefferson and The Hollister. Beautiful and comfortable. We asked for more hangers and extra coffee for the room and were accommodated. We also were lucky enough to get reservations (thank you Lindsey) at the pub downstairs for Saturday night Prime Rib! Everything was great would definitely stay here again.

This hotel is a fabulous little gem. The rooms are all unique and of a really high standard, they make new hotel rooms look so sterile. There is a basket of goodies awaiting in your room and not just lotions and the usual stuff. I would stay at this hotel again in a heart beat.Probably one of the nicest hotels I've stayed in. Theres also a great little pub downstairs TJ's

What a grand hotel. Our room was spacious with a king size bed with a great wooden Frame. there was a working fireplace in the room that just added to the comfort as it was early spring and still chilly. The lobby and wood work through out the building was rich and dark. There was a fabulous Pub in the lower level with outstanding prime rib great menu, cocktails and local brewery beers. there even was live music tastefully played. The town has a lot to offer and Lake Michigan beach is down the street. There was breakfast available at the pub in the morning and it was made to order. it was quite and peaceful. I imagine it would be very different in the summer as this is also a beach community. The cost was for off season and was at mid level but well worth the comfort. I will be back again.

What a great old historic place. I had the corner room with the separate living room. Really nice! Our group had the whole hotel rented out. Everybody loved it, even the older people that had to walk the steps didnt mind. Didn't notice any noise from the street outside or from the pub downstairs, maybe because we were on the fourth floor Coffee in our room since we left before the lobby opened. Some of our group went to the nearby restaurant and some went to the casino for breakfast. We had a great time, hope to stop back again some day but maybe spend a couple nights.

The Ramsdell Inn exudes history with its old-style lobby, beautiful woodwork, very high ceilings, large windows and lovely carpets and stairwells. Yes, getting to the rooms requires steps, but what an oasis upon arrival. We stayed in the most wonderful light-filled room at the end of the hall on the second floor and had a suite with a little windowed cupola looking out on the town. The bed was very comfortable, there was a little fridge, and everything was spotless. The owner we met was very friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again if we ever return to Manistee!
