Relaxing and quiet, but close to the action. Just a quick 3 block trip to the Shepler dock. We left the car parked at B&B and walked to ferry, dinner, and the park on Lake Huron next to the Mackinac Bridge. The rooms are clean and cozy. Nancy and Barry do a great job with breakfasts, housekeeping, and travel tips.... More

This is a great bed-and-breakfast. Charming and hospitable host and hostess. Outstanding gourmet breakfast cooked by the hostess. She and her husband are traveled interesting people who make the visit extra pleasant. Decor is in the "Ernest Hemingway" motif, with trophies and backwoods bric-a-brac. The house is Arts and Crafts style and meticulously restored. The furniture in the dining room... More

Oh my, where to begin. Nice place, close to the main road and the ferry. First, they need to do something to fix the steps to the porch. I fell up them 3 times and down them twice, and I am very active and not a clumsy person. I think they are of different heights or something. At the least,... More

As reflected on our website, our home is over 100 years old, and these older, historic homes are not always up to modern standards. We do have hand rails along each side of the front steps [see photos on website] and are sorry the guest did not use them. Other reviewers love our breakfasts. On the 1st day of this... More

This is a tale of parents learning from their children:) When we told our adult children we were headed to Mackinaw for a few days they told us we HAD to try the Deer Head Inn so I called. They only had an open room for one night so we booked it. First of all, they told us we could... More

This is the perfect place to stay in Mackinaw City. the location was great - close to everything and just two blocks from Shepler's Ferry. The home itself was beautiful and extremely well maintained. We stayed in the Bear Room, which had a nice little sitting room off of it that was nice. The breakfasts were very good and Nancy... More

The Deer Head Inn is located in Mackinaw City. It is a very cute inn located very close to the ferry to Mackinac Island, shopping and restaurants. Our room was very comfortable and tastefully decorated. As other travelers have mentioned, the owners are very friendly and helpful and serve a great breakfast!

I have stayed here many times - and it is always clean, very comfy, and convenient. The owners are very hospitable, but never intrusive. The B&B is tucked just behind the main drag, yet completely private and peaceful. Breakfast is always gourmet. Try to stay here anytime I'm in the area. Highly recommend!!

Wonderful experience. The owners are very gracious, the breakfasts are wonderful and the location is unbeatable. It is only a couple of blocks from everything in the downtown area of Mackinac, including the Shepplers Ferry Dock. It is a true B&B, with only four or five rooms, not a historic inn that serves breakfast as some are. If I get... More

The owners (Nancy and Barry) are gracious hosts. The B&B is well-maintained and is conveniently located. It’s an easy one block walk to the town's main street where the stores and restaurants are located. We stayed in the Hemingway Room. It is a large room with a fireplace and Jacuzzi. The queen size bed was comfortable. Breakfast is served at... More
