Enjoy our location near downtown but away from the hustle and bustle. Our serene wraparound porch offers views of Lake Huron. There is a refrigerator, freezer and microwave for guest use. We serve an expansive breakfast including a daily specialty item and a selection of two house made baked goods, cut fruit, cereals, house made bread for toasting, and Greek Yogurt parfaits. We are open May through October, and we are open for select weekends during the winter.

What a welcoming place! We stayed a nice on the Island and booked the Geranium room. The owners were so kind to us and the food was AMAZING. I'm a breakfast girl, so did I have plum cake, quiche, fruit and cinnamon rolls? Yep! Bedding was soft and the bed was firm. Everything was very clean and we loved sitting on the porch reading and eating breakfast and everything they offered to guests, such as a fridge for guests to store items. 1000% would return.

Thanks so much for your kind words! We aren't usually the first choice for people attending the conference because we are not near The Grand Hotel but sometimes a little distance is nice. I'm glad that you enjoyed breakfast. We would love to host you again in the future.

I just came back from a 3-night stay at Small Point and all I can say is, "Where have been all my life?" The BNB is a few minutes outside of town with a beautiful view of the water. You can hear the waves from the front porch and your room, if yours faces the water. It's peaceful and friendly, and a truly relaxing place. The front porch is spacious and has plenty of comfortable furniture where you can while away the hours. Blankets are provided. I really liked the shared refrigerator, freezer and microwave, which made it easy to have drinks and snacks on hand. The breakfasts were fantastic - there were fresh baked breads and pastries, egg casseroles, juices, tea and coffee. Shared bathrooms were not an issue. There are two on the second floor and one was always available. My bed was comfortable and the room was clean and nicely furnished. The owners are friendly and kind people who work hard to make their BNB a special place. I really unwound here and was more relaxed than on any other Mackinac trip. I made a reservation for next year before I left!

The best thing about Small Pointe is it's location. It's away from the craziness of downtown but its proximity to Mission Pointe gives you nearby alternatives for meals and shopping.
As far as comfort of the stay it was a major disappointment. I was very surprised that we were not provided with any toiletries, just a few small bars of soap. I assumed we would get at least the standard shampoo and lotion, so didn't bring either, since most B&B's provide quality toiletries.
The Lilac Room, is so small the whole room is basically taken up with the bed, and was also very dark with no overhead lighting, some dim sconces and a lamp. Also, only a small dresser for counter space so no room for our nonclothing items. Not good when you do not have your own bathroom to get ready in.
The most disappointing thing was the breakfast. I confirmed several times with the owners that they provided a gluten free breakfast. Their friends were taking care of the place during most of our stay and they had no idea that I was gluten free. I mentioned it the night we checked in, but the next morning they had not made anything gluten free. None of the pastries, waffles, toast etc were gluten free. They did make gluten free waffles when I asked, but that was it. And day 1 nothing hot to eat.
The owners did show up late on our last night but they weren't friendly, maybe because they knew some of the repeat guest. All in all, not worth staying there, we won't be back.

I’m so sorry that you were disappointed in your stay at Small Point. The Lilac Room is our smallest room and as such is the last to fill. I’m sorry it wasn’t comfortable for you. My husband and I took a small break from B and B life. I understand that I may not have prepared our visiting Inn-keepers to serve your needs. I hope you were able to enjoy some of your time on the Island.

Fantastic stay in a historic inn right on Lake Huron. The owners are so welcoming and Christina even baked some gluten free options after hearing we were GF. Brian was always helpful with his decades long knowledge of the island. Beds were as comfy as could be. Only wish we had booked for much longer. Will stay a week next summer.

I'm so glad that your family enjoyed their stay with us! I may be biased but I think Mackinac Island is an ideal place for family travel. It was a pleasure watching your family enjoying the Island and enjoying time spent together. We are always happy to accommodate dietary needs, thank you for letting us know that you follow a gluten free diet. We would love to welcome you back next year!

We just got back from another Mackinac Island vacation. Each visit we stayed at Small Point Bed & Breakfast. Both places are special. First of all, the location of Small Point is ideal because you are just a short walk to town for shopping and dining but you are on the outer end of town and can have all the quiet time you need. Brian and Kristina do a great job of making you feel welcome but can also assist you with bike rentals, tours, taxis, etc. We love waking up to Kristina's home made pastries, muffins, waffles, English muffins and I could go on. Don't worry about the calories because you will be walking or biking them off. Our favorite outing is to walk down to Arch Rock and climb the stairs to Fort Holmes (the highest elevation on the island) and you can see the Mackinac Bridge where Lake Michigan and Lake Huron are linked. This year we walked a lot and were on a mission to find the "Secret Garden." We found the garden on the Grand Hotel grounds and can't wait to go back and see the growth and change next visit.

My husband and two sons (6 &2) and I absolutely loved this place. Fantastic breakfast, a quiet part of the island, and hosts who went out of their way to welcome us and treat our sons kindly. Beds were comfortable and everything was clean. Children’s books, puzzles and blankets for the chilly nights and mornings on the beautiful front porch-all the little details were taken care of. It is a home-style place to stay, with shared bathrooms, but we never had issues with that. If we come back to Mackinac, it will undoubtedly be at Small Point.

Food awesome and fresh every day, baked bread, muffnns, even prepared steel cut oats for me! Filtered water too! NO TV so very quiet, up at dawn every day to walk on beach outside. breakfast was so huge had to pack half for later. Lastly they fixed my pocket knife like new, It had not been working for 10 years! Let Bryan give you a story about his families personal involvement in the civil war. Come back in winter for a cross country ski if you are local. Too far to fly for me from eugene, Oregon.

This was our second time at Small Point. This time we brought friends with us. They liked it so much they booked to come back with us in October. Once again our rooms were spotless, bathrooms also. Masks were mandatory & presented no issue. Brian & Christina make everyone feel welcome & at home. Breakfast on our morning there was delicious! French toast, fresh fruit, breakfast cake, hard boiled eggs, assorted cereals, juices, teas & coffee, and toast. Everything homemade. Already booked our stays for 2021.

Our family of six (all adults) recently spent six nights at Small Point. It was the perfect place for us to spend much needed family time. The warm welcome we received from Brian and Christina made us feel like we were visiting family. We spent many hours on the large front porch looking at the lake, watching freighters, reading, and playing board games. The location is steps away from the lake front and bike trails, and away from the crowds downtown. The fresh, homemade breakfasts started our days on a high note. Our experience was the best of Mackinac hospitality. We were sad to leave and can't wait to return!
