We absolutely loved the location, room and service! It was so convenient to get to and in the middle of it all! The room was clean, very spacious and well kept! Although we were a half a block from the water, we still could see it!
I cannot recommend this place enough. I have stayed there before, and love the location and how cozy and clean the rooms are. I had reservations for an upcoming vacation, and had to cancel for various covid-19 related reasons, which I explained. I was issued a full refund despite the normal cancellation policy even though my vacation dates are beyond the (current) end date for the stay at home order in Michigan. I am already a repeat visitor to this location, but their helpfulness in this situation makes me even more certain to choose Pontiac Lodge again in the future.
PROS: The check in and check out process couldn't have been easier, super nice, friendly and helpful staff. Located close to restaurants, attractions, bike rentals and couldn't be any closer to the dock/ferry. Rooms were super clean and nicely decorated. CONS: Our room was very small, and with furniture, did not leave much space to move about. Bathroom was very small and could use some updating. No elevator available (and we knew this at time of booking), but I would choose to bring two smaller bags next time instead of one large bag for this reason.
Room was very, very clean. Nice tub in the room, but the handle for the cold water kept coming off. It was very economical considering it was peak season, so no real complaints, more just information. Tried to use the concierge portion of the website, but did not receive a response. In person, the concierge was able to get us reservations at the woods. It was pretty quiet- interesting to hear the clip clop of horse hoofs even in the middle of the night. Kind of nostalgic. Wine bar across the street had a great selection and although we didn't try it, the restaurant next door always had tasty smells wafting in the air.
As this was a late booking, our options on the island were limited with most of what remained available being extremely pricey. Fortunately, we were able to find a last minute room at the Pontiac Lodge, which for what we paid (@$180/night plus taxes), was a great deal. Check-in was very efficient and the lodge is very conveniently located directly across the street from the ferry dock (which services both the Sheplers and Star lines). With a pull-out sofa and a queen bed in a seperate bedroom, our accomodations were perfect for our needs. Each room had its own air conditioning unit, independently controlled, and a television. The unit also had a sink, coffeemaker, microwave, compact fridge and wifi. While the bathroom and bedroom were tight spaces, the room containing the sofabed was spacious. Front desk (which is located around the corner from the entrance staircase) is staffed from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Overall, if you need comfortable accomodations (as opposed to luxurious or romantic), you should consider Pontiac Lodge.…
