Come and relax at the charming Market Street Inn on beautiful, historic Mackinac Island. Start your day with a complimentary breakfast served in your room, the parlor or our guests favorite, the garden courtyard. Built in 1900, each room awaits you with modern amenities yet with turn of the century charm. Located on quaint and quiet Market Steet, the front porch holds views of Fort Mackinac. A short walk around the corner and you are at the beginning of town where restaurants and shops abound.
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travelers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
I couldn't wait to get back home to write this review. Mackinac Island has always been on my bucket list and we were fortunate to be able to get a room (#7) at the Market Street Inn. The pros: just about everything. Liz and Brian were gracious, friendly, there when you needed them and always reachable by a call or text (even before we arrived they were quick to respond to questions); the breakfast was filling and delicious (especially loved the lemon turnover) - actually more food than you could want or need; coffee/tea upon request and cookies in reception area every afternoon; the location could not have been better - just off the main street where it was much more quiet and next to Lafayette Park with a view of the fort; very relaxing front porch and beautiful rear garden; room was well appointed and had everything you needed (including extra folding chairs and tables) and very quiet (we never heard other guests); there was a secure area to store your bike at the back of the house too. Everything was very clean, precautions were taken for safety (plexiglass at reception, everyone wearing masks - hosts and guests), sanitizer available in reception. We were very impressed with the bike seat covers that were available for free and enjoyed the free entrance to the Butterfly House compliments of Market Street Inn. The cons: none. I could not have chosen a better place to stay and look forward to returning to Mackinac and the Market Street Inn. Thank you for making our visit so memorable.

This is a lovely, well appointed small inn just behind Main Street on Market Street. This was our first visit to Mackinac Island so we didn't know what to expect. It turned out that the location was important for us because Main Street is very busy with bicyclists, horsedrawn carts, shoppers, etc. But Market Street is very quiet and there's no noise from Main Street. The only noise you hear is reveille and taps played occasionally from Ft. Mackinac, which is very close. The inn also has a pretty courtyard with flowering shrubs in back where you can eat meals, chat, relax, etc. Breakfast was included. It was small but filling. It includes a choice of pastry items that are made at the inn and are delicious. Our hosts and the staff were great, too.

My boyfriend and I stayed at Market Street Inn for two nights in July 2021 and I have only good things to say about it! The innkeepers, Liz and Brian, were so welcoming when we first arrived and let us keep our bags in the lobby before check-in. We felt like we were at home because the hospitality was so great. We were able to choose what we wanted served to us for breakfast. Every time, they got our "order" exactly right. The only thing I would say about the breakfast is that I wish they had more options (possibly scrambled eggs or bacon).
Our bedroom was very clean including the bathroom. The bed was extremely comfortable!
The location of Market Street Inn was perfect for us because it was off of Main Street so it was quieter and less busy, but also less than a minute away from everything! Our stay included coupons for the Butterfly House which was kind of them. :)
GREAT AMENITIES: There was a small library with books for all ages about Mackinac Island, an available fridge, freezer, and ice, sitting area, sink, and cleaning supplies.
The innkeepers seemed to think of everything guests might need during their stay. I would love to stay at Market Street Inn if I visit the Island again!

Our second stay at Market Street Inn will not our last. Brian and Liz and their staff are wonderful, quick, friendly, accommodating. If you have a problem, they will solve it will a smile and promptness. If you dream of a friendly place to stay where you are greeted with smiles and a delicious fresh breakfast this is your place. If you don't think its too much to ask that someone you are paying for a service actually provides that service and then when you see them go above and beyond and plainly care about your experience then chose the Market Street Inn, you will not be disappointed.
Now I will tell you that the rooms are not large, but they are impeccably cleaned and maintained. You will be warm or have an air conditioned room, whichever your choose. You will be greeted kindly and will be able to easily reach restaurants or other island destinations. This destination is not to be missed because they want your business and will treat you better than anywhere else.

We were able to stay for a few nights, and stayed in the Family Suite. It was perfect for the 4 of us. The room itself was perfectly temperature controlled, the dehumidifier kept the downstairs room from feeling too damp. The beds were comfortable and the breakfasts were some of the best I've ever had. Brian and Liz were so nice and made sure everyone was comfortable. The courtyard was a perfect place to sit and eat or read a book for some down time. The location was great, right next to the supermarket so we could grab some food to make lunch for the kids to make the trip a bit more cost effective. We could walk everywhere, but were off the main street, so it felt less crowded. We all want to come back again very soon!

My wife and I stayed at the Market Street Inn for almost a week in August 2020. It was our first time on the island and we were both overwhelmed by the beauty and history of the island as well as the accommodating and friendly manor of both Brian and Liz in welcoming us into their B&B.
I don't think we could recommend another place to stay higher than their comfortable B&B, which sits on a quiet little street behind the main thoroughfare.
Even though the town gets very busy in August, their location is both convenient, quiet and off the main commercial street. Accomodations were first rate, house and grounds are meticulously cared for, and they both seemed committed to ensuring our comfort and enjoyment. Go visit them and Mackinac Island and I'm sure you'll plan to return, as we are!

There isn't a day that goes by that we are not captivated by the beauty of Mackinac, and it sounds like the island has captivated you as well. We certainly hope to be a part of your next visit. We love staying at Market Street Inn. Innkeepers Brian and Liz make the experience extra special! Their attention to detail and servant spirit adds a level of comfort to the stay. The Inn is neat and clean, the beds are comfortable, and the rooms are quiet.
One unique feature is breakfast in the courtyard. The courtyard is beautiful and a perfect place to enjoy a leisurely morning. The breakfast consists of juice, coffee or tea, choice of muffin, turnover, or bagel, choice of a fruit cup or yogurt granola fruit parfait, and a hard boiled egg. Breakfast can also be served to you in the parlor or in your room.
The front porch is also a great spot to hang out. The Inn is on Market Street, one block up from Main Street and isolated from the noisy and crowded downtown.
We have stayed at Market Street Inn for many years. When they have not had availability, we have tried other B&B’s. None have measured up to our great experiences at Market Street. You won’t be disappointed.

We stayed at the Market Street Inn for four nights in July and had a wonderful stay. This B&B is in a perfect location, just a block from the Star Line ferry from Mackinaw City and steps away from the park that looks up to the historic fort. The room was clean, comfortable, and quiet. The hosts, Brian and Liz, were the perfect hosts providing good recommendations and a good breakfast each morning. The courtyard and front porch are delightful although we spent most of our time out and about. I especially enjoyed my morning walk along the lake before the daily ferries arrived with the throngs of visitors for the day. Since we were there four nights, we had four excellent dinners at the 1852 Grill Room, the Pink Pony, the Carriage House, and the Jockey Club. We need to return to dine at the Woods…make a reservation weeks in advance! If you’re not ones to dine out all the time, Doud’s Market is around the corner and has anything you would need for a picnic lunch or dinner. You’ll be surprised how much variety they can pack into that store!

This place is immaculate and is the quintessential bed and breakfast. The rooms are immaculate and quaint. You will feel transported back in time but with all the amenities expected of today. The owners were attentive but always gave us our privacy. Breakfast was served safely in our room because of Covid. The owners left us a check sheet the day before so that we were able to choose what we would like for the next days breakfast. The breakfasts were delicious and served as adorably as the room itself. The Market Street Inn is a perfect location for an older couple. It is located on a very quiet street yet a quick walk around the corner and you'll find yourself at Doud's grocery store and at the beginning of Main Street. Because we were leaving so early in the morning on departure day, the owners left my husband and I a pretty "breakfast to go" bag on our door the night before. We were able to enjoy a delicious muffin, fruit, and snacks on the ferry on the way home. This is the perfect place in Mackinac Island to build memories.

My wife and I came here for a mini-moon for a couple days after our wedding. Brian was so friendly and helpful at check-in and they even surprised us with a congratulatory mini bottle of champagne in our room. The breakfast every morning was delicious. There were snacks laid out throughout the day and a parlor full of games to play. We loved the location as it was just past all the restaurants/bars so it was never loud, but close enough to walk anywhere. The store is right around the corner. We will definitely stay here again!
