If you're looking for a modern Hilton, this is not it. It is a beautiful Victorian hotel in a perfect location on one edge of Main Street. Great view of the lake from the front porch. Clean and people are friendly. My only complaint would be the rock hard mattress.

Beautiful old hotel on the edge of town. Wonderful porch to watch ferries and ore carriers travel past. Neat older rooms with large windows. Rooms not large but of adequate size. Three floors, no elevator, and several steps up into the hotel. Not expensive for Mackinac Island. Many returning guests.

let me start by saying that this hotel is in an AMAZING location-it's across the street from the water, adjacent to the ferry line(s), and, essentially, in the downtown area. the hotel, itself is quite quaint. it is definitely older, but that is what gives it the charm it has. each room has its own bathroom and ours had two...

Great location. Saw a beautiful sunset and sunrise very close to the porch. Hospitable owner willing to share her life long knowledge of the Island. Our family room was very full with 3 beds and even had a partial view. We stored our bags in the entry after checkout and the location was again great to park bikes and drop...

My husband and I have stayed at the Windermere for many years and love it! The rooms are clean and comfortable and nicely decorated. We love sitting on the porch watching the freighters go by, looking at the lighthouses, and people watching. The sunroom is a great spot for playing cards or games in the evening. The hotel has a...

The Windermere is at the west end of Main St., about 76 steps to the Star Line Ferry entrance and probably about 150 steps to Shepplers Ferry. Arnold's Ferry is near the opposite end of Main St. From it's popular front porch, which seats about 18, one sees the hustle and bustle of horse drawn vehicles, bikes, and pedestrians about...

When we can spend a night or two on the island, we've always stayed at the Windermere. We've probably been staying here since the 1990's. Our Aug. 2016 was the 1st one with extended family. The Windermere's location is perfect for us: not in the middle of the hustle, but close enough for a quick shopping trip, an ice cream...

The Windermere has a nice front porch with a great view of the water and the light house. Location is great for the star line ferry and riding bikes. Rooms were basic without tvs and no air conditioning to speak of. Staff was very pleasant and helpful.

The very best thing about the Windermere is the front porch! It's right at the edge of town and overlooks the park so you have activity, but not the huge hustle and bustle of downtown. You can sit on the porch and rock away the day or participate fully in all the island has to offer. The rooms are comfortable...

Our first impression of the hotel was that the staff did not care about customer service. We apparently inconvenienced them with our luggage. The porter was extremely rude! Front desk personnel seemed "put out" checking us in. The air conditioner didn't cool the room. The breakfast featured bagels, day old donuts, and bruised apples. I expected my stay to be...
