Absolutely lovely place, everything was very clean and spotless. It is a historic home that has been turned into a hotel, so everything reflects that. Very close to the action on the main street but out of the very busy retail area. Only a short walk from the ferry dock. The beautiful front porch has a wonderful view of the lake and all the action. Would be the first place I would go again.

This hotel is lovely! It sits at the end of the street and so it’s nice and quiet, yet very convenient. It has an unobstructed view of Lake Huron. The staff is more than accommodating and the room was perfect. We stayed for 4 nights this past week and will return to this hotel again.

This was our fourth stay at the Windermere Hotel. We have found the rooms extremely clean, and the staff is great! Being able to sit on the front porch and read, people watch, etc. is a real treat. The porch floor is swept at least once a day along with the lobby area. It is true that the beautiful rooms do not have a mini refrigerator, however, a full size refrigerator available to use on the main floor. Books, a record player with records, a large TV, irons, an ironing board and a table are also available in this shared kitchen area. It is also true that TVs are not in each room. However, to really experience this 1887 summer residence, not having a TV and hearing horses clopping down the street is much more authentic! The Continental Breakfast offered each morning is very adequate to begin the day. We really appreciated the that any items needing to be replenished could be easily done without maid service entering the room. We so enjoy staying in this quieter area of the island with a beautiful porch that has an excellent, unobstructed view of the water!

Perfect location at the end of Main St. with a great view of the strait and the bridge. Nice open beach right across the street, close to the ferry dock, bike rental and all the restaurants. Didn't feel as busy as staying right downtown. Family suite we rented was perfect for 5. Good size, nice garden view, partial main street view. Porch has lots of seating, garden has nice tables & chairs and cornhole boards. Continental breakfast was bagels, cereal, coffee, and OJ. Reasonably priced compared to most B&B's on the island.

This is a wonderful hotel steeped in history. It is located just steps away from the ferry docks. A hotel porter picks up your luggage at the ferry dock and delivers to your room. The service is very personal an “No” is not in their vocabulary. Every staff member went out of his or her way to cater to our every need. The rooms are quaint, comfy and decorated like you expect for a summer cottage. Located on the Main Street so most everything is easily accessible. The hotel owns the vacant property across the street so the view of the lake is unimpeded. Best of all, there is a great front porch with rocking chairs, settees and straight back chairs. We enjoyed recharging ourselves while watching the world go by. A truly restful and charming experience.

I have stayed at the wonderful Windermere Hotel several times with my daughter in the past few years, with another reservation for October’23. This is a beloved place for many guests! Perhaps because the hotel has an enduring, comforting quality and the staff are all very friendly and accommodating. The rooms are beautiful and the porch is lovely! The continental breakfast is great and has everything you need. Because of the hotel ambience, your one problem might be pushing yourself out the door to enjoy the Island! The Windermere Hotel is truly a historic Michigan treasure and will captivate your heart again and again ❤️

This hotel is overrated and over priced. The room was cramped and old. It smelled like dirty socks. The breakfast was a joke. The front desk woman was rude and could barely get out of her chair to answer one simple question. The WiFi was terrible. The towels were cheap and smelled like bleach. Will never stay here again.

Nice classic Mackinac Island Hotel, great location a few hundred feet from Star Line dock #2 which we used from St. Ignace. Our two queen room was spacious and comfortable, the beds were very firm which my wife didn’t enjoy as much as me. We had a view of the garden and partial street. Porch was fantastic, particularly for morning sun. Bathroom was modern and great water pressure. Check in and out was easy. Small things kept it from a 5. No fridge, which was not great for leftovers, no TV - but did stream from wifi. The ceiling leaked into the bathroom and the area around our toilet was soaked. When I reported this it was said that had been happening since May (a few times) and I think they should have figured that out after the first couple times. At least it wasn’t toilet water. We would return.

This was my first time staying at the Windermere. It was a very positive and enjoyable experience. All of the employees are totally focused on providing exceptional service to guests. A continental breakfast is served each morning. The hotel provides a porter service to the ferry docks (both Shepler's and Star Line). The hotel is located on Main Street which means it is close to the shops, attractions, restaurants, and ferry docks. Treat yourself and stay at the Windermere!
