#5 of 14 B&Bs / Inns in Mackinac Island
The year was 1867, an era of horse-drawn carriages and ladies in bustles. Blacksmiths were crafting horse shoes in glowing forges. During this height of Victorian culture, the Inn on Mackinac was built. Known then as Chateau Beaumont in memory of the famous Army surgeon at Fort Mackinac, the Inn on Mackinac has retained its quaint, old fashioned charm. The Inn’s facilities have been updated to meet the needs of the modern traveler while preserving its colorful history. Today, completely remodeled and redecorated, this beautiful Victorian Inn opens its doors, where the very special charm of our family-run Inn awaits you.

We had the absolute best weekend on Mackinac Island this Memorial Weekend. Arrived on Saturday and left Monday. Stayed two nights at the Inn on Mackinac. Perfect location, absolutely wonderful deck and patio, and fabulous hottub! Our daughter(8) loved everything as well. Breakfast was cereal, muffins, hard boiled eggs, and fruit - this was perfect for us. They have a cute little cafe too for espresso drinks. Loved the location - easy walk to bustling main street but far enough away as well. We had a two queen room. Beds were comfortable. Plenty of room for us & very clean. Staff was always friendly and helpful.

We had a confirmed 3-night reservation and were notified via email with less than 24 hours that the hotel had decided to close early for the season. They did not offer to find us another room somewhere, and we had already travelled 12 hours to reach the island the next day. They did not return our phone call to email. Instead of a lovely Victorian room, we found a dreary indoor room down the street. When pressed for a reason, they tried to blame the pandemic but then admitted that there is no mandate from the state or island to close early. I cannot express enough our disappointment in the decision of this inn. Don’t trust them with your important vacation.

A tiny room is one thing. A dirty, worn room is another. Mystery stains on walls and furniture as well as an awful musty smell. We would not choose this property again. Just because it’s old doesn’t make it charming.

This is labelled as a B&B, but it's more of a boutique hotel. It's located a 7 minute walk from the heart of downtown, which was fine by us. We'd rather not be in the thick of all the bustle. Our room was very quiet, and had plenty of room, with 2 queens, as well as a wingback chair for reading. The bathroom was really small, and it was a challenge to get out of the shower/tub, and not get tangled up with the toilet. Front desk staff were always friendly and helpful. They had take away boxes of fresh baked cookies every night at 6 pm! Breakfast was really limited, probably due to COVID restrictions, with the hard boiled eggs very cold and dry, and the coffee not good at all. The little pastries, however, were very fresh and crispy/flaky. Everything was super clean, both in the room and throughout the common areas. They have duvets separately wrapped in plastic for you to add to the bed if you're needing additional layers. WiFi was barely adequate at times. The cost per room is probably one of the lowest on the island, and we felt it was excellent value. We'd stay here again, in a heartbeat.

This is a beautiful hotel far enough from main street but close enough for a short walk. Everything was excellent. Bring a bottle of wine for the front porch at sunset. The coffee wasn't great but the cherry muffins were delicious and they had Udi's muffins for people on a gluten-free diet. This hotel is a great deal for the price. I would definitely stay here again.
