We were at the Island House after the 4th of July. Have been on Mackinac several times and thought we'd try the Island House with our 11 year old. Loved It! Beautiful grounds, great location and had a delightful time. Staff is very friendly and attentive. Rooms are small but perfectly fine for the island. Liked the charm of the...

While I can appreciate the general quality and historical integrity of this stately hotel, I can also appreciate that there are certain things that fall beyond what is considered quirky. I understand that much of what happens with an old hotel must be backtracked to be updated. However, when you have cracks all over the walls and ceiling, you have...

The place is old, but the rooms are well maintained, and clean. It is our favorite place to stay on the island. The food is very good also. Just sitting out on the front lawn, or the porch, is a pleasure.

Built in 1852, Island House Hotel undoubtedly has an old world feel. It can be a challenge to maintain the balance between staying true to the historic architecture and simultaneously meeting modern expectations. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay and look forward to welcoming you back again.

Our stay at the Island with our daughters was a memorable experience. The Island House was the perfect setting for our return visit to Mackinac Island. This was the first visit to the island for three of our grandchildren. Certainly the usual Mackinaw Island mainstays excited the kids and reignited our interest and that of our accompanying children. Horses, carriages, wooden structures, absence of cars and historic sites were all part of the event. The Island House was an important part of this introductory trip. The...

So relaxing. Every night after making S'mores, my kids and I would sit out on the porch a play board games until the sun went down-around 1045pm! Located just a few minutes walk to town, but far enough away to avoid the hustle & bustle or waking up to the fragrance of horse droppings. Pool house was great, hot tub...

Island House Hotel is a great place for making family memories. We are glad that you enjoyed the convenience of the hotel location and the amenities. We regularly evaluate the hours of the hotel restaurants to ensure that we are meeting the needs of our guests. Unfortunately, the Ice House Bar is rarely busy enough to keep it open later....

“Make sure when you take advantage of a package, check to see if it is per night, or per reservation. I stayed multiple nights, as the offer was per night. When I arrived, they didn't want to honor it. I was fortunate enough to have printed off the offer and reservation and brought it with me. ”
