Detailed Reviews
First weekend opening after Covid and felt very comfortable. Room clean (although I did my own extra). Pleasant staff and accommodated breakfast with list of items available and handed by masked/gloved staff. If you're going to rent bikes they give a discount to guests, although if not early in the day you may wish to wipe down first. Our room was first floor with young active child above us we could hear running around, but they went to bed early and was really no big deal.

This was our 2nd time staying at Harbour View Inn and we enjoyed our visit again. We planned this trip on short notice and we were placed in the last available room that had A/C. I will say that the compressor outside the bedroom was quite loud. We informed the front desk to see if there was anything they could do. They explained that they were aware of the problem and that they have plans to fix the unit. I appreciated their honesty and concern, but I do hope they make the investment to fix it. The room was located in the Carriage House (2001). It was a great set up with a living room and separate bedroom. I may suggest a coffee maker in the room as they are unable to have coffee in the lobby due to Covid (I understand and respect)
The grounds were in top shape and the flowers are coming in nicely. You can really see they take pride in their Inn. The staff is top notch- kind, helpful and always smiling. The grill that is located on the property was quick and delicious. The staff there was top notch as well! The Chef was happy to assist with any questions and took time and care in preparing the meal.
We will be back to HVI soon we hope as we enjoy the stay and relaxing atmosphere.

The Harbour View Inn was a great place to stay on Mackinac Island. Perfect location! It was close enough to the center of town to be convenient without being so close that you are in the middle of the hustle.
The bike rentals at the Inn are incredibly well priced compared to other establishments. They had plenty of single and tandem bicycles. There is a convenient lunch restaurant as well as a sufficient breakfast, served until 9:30.
The rooms are a good size and very clean.
Our only semi-complaint would be that they do not clean the rooms during your stay and do not provide clean towels throughout your stay, even though we were there for five nights. I don’t find that acceptable. They were more than willing to accommodate our needs when we requested at the front desk which we appreciated but for the daily rate, clean towels should be provided regularly.
We would definitely stay at Harbour View Inn again if we are ever lucky enough to visit the island a second time.

Thank you for your review! We we were just able to get some more staff in and we are now able to service stay overs! This staffing shortage has sure taken it's toll on the island. Prior to that we would gladly get you new towels or anything else needed, you just needed to let the front desk know!

Excellent stay at Harbor View Inn! Room was spacious (king bed) & the front desk was very friendly & helpful. They had spots for us to keep our luggage both when we arrived & after we checked out so we could explore the island more & not on a time limit. They will also take your luggage to the ferry for you but we didn’t want to pick a departure time. Breakfast was good; even with Covid restrictions. They had yogurt, fruit, cereal, hard boiled eggs, muffins & a few other items. The room was very clean & had a nice balcony with chairs for us to use. The bed was very comfy but needed at least one more pillow. My only complaint was no fridge but we knew that prior. We did have a ceiling fan however which for us was a nice bonus & my husband liked the heat lamp in the bathroom! We’ll definitely return!

We had been to Mackinac Island many times, but truly, the best way to enjoy Mackinac is to spend a few nights at a hotel on the island. When we went to the island in July, this was our first time at the Harbour View Inn. It was a wonderful experience! From the moment we got off the ferry, we were pampered: Tony, from the Harbour View, took our bags and we were free to leisurely walk the downtown streets and make the 10 minute walk to the hotel. Everything at the hotel was beautiful. The service was always "with a smile," our room was large and clean, the gardens were magnificent, and we felt like we stepped back in time.
The hotel offered bike rentals that were convenient and cheaper than the ones offered downtown. There were beautiful lobby rooms to sit and relax inside and a large front porch with a view of the harbor. It was a short walking distance to everything.
Breakfast was "Covid-To-Go" style. You could chose from a decent selection and the servers would put the food in a brown bag to eat in the indoor or outdoor dinning areas. It was a perfect way to start the day. Coffee and tea and water were available all day in the lobby.
Overall, the Harbour View was a wonderful place to stay. I worried that a historic hotel would be "rickety" but everything was fresh and comfortable. I would choose this hotel again for my next trip to Mackinac Island.

Harbour View is located about a 10 minute walk from the ferry dock on the main street. In addition to the original main building there are 3 more making up the hotel property.
We were located on the first floor of the back building. The Hotel had a very nice ambiance and offered a small inviting courtyard between the buildings. The staff was very friendly and professional. Due to the pandemic , management managed to come up with a safe alternative to the included breakfast buffet. A modified assortment of breakfast items were offered "to grab and go". There were a few spaces tables in the breakfast room and some on an adjacent patio where you could elect to eat. We did so every day (4 night stay) as there was no table in our room (although it was large enough to accommodate one).
Our room was located along a pathway which many people used passing by our patio doors making it very uncomfortable to keep the drapes open (which was to only source of outside light). Outside on the path in front of our door someone had painted words in red which was merely smudged from a failed attempt to clean the area. The room and bathroom were spacious and well appointed. However, the sink, which is oddly located within the room, was all cracked. The sheets on both beds were threadbare and too small for the mattress. Flat sheets were used on the mattress but were to small to tuck under the sides. The pillows were all different, very old , and none of any quality. We found the iron in the sink cabinet but had to search high and low for the ironing board. Turns out it is stored under the bed! While getting it out a pair of dirty old socks was pushed out from under. Clearly from a previous guest! Does not say much for the efficiency of cleaning/vacuuming the room. As mentioned earlier there was no table to sit at to work on our computers, play a game of cards, or even have a snack. This was of particular annoyance as we had a very rainy day when we ended up spending most of the day in the room. Could not order a meal delivered...no where to eat. Could not get any light as people were frequently walking by. Had to sit on bed to use laptops. Short of sitting on the floor like children could not even enjoy a game of cards or use our travel scrabble.
Hopefully not every room suffers such deficiencies. I can only address my experience.
As a frequent traveler the best rating I could give is a 3.

+1
This is the first time we’ve stayed here and we’re so glad we did! We ended up with a room on the 3rd floor of the “guest house”. We loved the view and the balcony area.
Staff is great and room was clean. I would live to see the inn invest in better bed pillows-ours were awful. And the shower didn’t have much water pressure.
You can rent bikes on-site which is super convenient. Fee is $5/hr for guests.
After checking out staff allowed us to leave our bags at the front desk so we could enjoy the rest of the day bag-free.
Hope to return again next summer.

We just stayed for three nights at the Harbour View Inn and had a wonderful stay. It’s just a short walk from the ferry and the downtown area, the staff was friendly and accommodating, there is a bike rental onsite (great 8 mile bike route along the perimeter of the island!), and the views are tremendous. Our (smallish) room had a garden view, but there is a front porch and a balcony for all guests to enjoy with amazing views of the harbor. Breakfast was grab and go due to Covid and somewhat limited, but fine for a few days. Would definitely stay here again.

We went to the island for five nights at three different hotels in May. All three were great. We have been staying at the Harbour View Inn for years. So it was a must for us to stay a couple nights there. We always plan our trips some time in advance. When Harbour View has their 50% off sale in the winter we jumped at the chance to stay in one of their comfortable king suites again. We love this place. The management and all the employee's go out of their way to make you feel welcome.

My family recently stayed in the Guest house, a queen suite, with balcony view of the court yard. The room was very nice, included a fridge, and our suite had a door that blocked the living area from the bedroom which was nice with kids when they had to go to bed a little earlier. We had a portable air conditioner in the room which worked ok. The continental breakfast was easy, cereal, muffins, fruit, coffee, hard boiled eggs, juice, etc that was put in a to-go bag for you, this saved time and money from going out to breakfast on Main Street. The staff was friendly, clean, and always helped us with your needs. Easy access to Main Street and a quick bike ride to downtown, also walking distance. We’d definitely stay again, thank you.
