The Lilac Tree Suites is located in the heart of downtown Mackinac Island. We are surrounded by restaurants, bars, shops, Island activities, and are centrally located to the ferry docks. We are an all-suites property featuring modern amenities that a traveler is accustomed. All suites have two large rooms separated by a bathroom with double vanity. Excellent hotel in the downtown area. The room was quiet and decorated beautifully. The staff was attentive and helpful. Definitely enjoyed my stay there! My only suggestion would be to add black out curtains. The shutters let in way too much light at night.

Very pleased with the Lilac Tree location a very easy walk from both ferry lines and walkable to every island location on our itinerary. The room setup was one of the best I’ve seen. A long room with bedroom upon room entrance followed by bathroom and lovely double sink vanity area and the living room and balcony at the far end. Partial water view from balcony. A room where we were extremely comfortable; made us wish our stay was longer.
Entire hotel was very attractive and clean. Staff was helpful; especially upon our request to enforce the 11pm-7am quiet time when we had neighbors that apparently couldn’t tell time or comprehend the concept.
We purchased the prepaid breakfast offered by Lilac Tree which is down the street at the Pink Pony. It is a very good breakfast and would recommend if you like to start the day with a big breakfast.
I would like to particularly thank Jennifer who was so very helpful during the reservation process. All of her recommendations were taken and spot-on.

If this hadn't have been a Covid related summer I am sure I would have been happier. I originally cancelled my reservations since I didn't think there would be a Port Huron to Mackinac sailing race. Then, the race was on and I called the Lilac Tree and they had rooms available (of course they did since they had many summer cancellations due to Covid). When I checked in there were safety protocals in place (which was good) but there was no change in the rate per night (I know they were not at a fully filled hotel and of course were probably financially losing money but it would have been nice to get some kind of break on the price since I did come back during this pandemic). They didn't have a full cleaning staff (again due to Covid) so the cleaning crew came in only in the beginning and after that, I made my own bed everyday and had to ask for clean towels which were left right outside my room. There was no fudge at the front desk and we took care of our own luggage. I still love this hotel, but it really would have been nice to get some kind of price break for it not being at full service. I will stay there again, as it is lovely.

The hotel is right in the middle of (the incredibly busy) downtown and thus convenient to shops and restaurants. While it was nice having 2 rooms, the decor will likely remind you of your grandmother’s house circa 1990 (lots of chintz and wicker). The hotel was clean and the room quiet until the housekeepers arrive in the hallways ~9 AM. The housekeeping staff also does not wear their masks even when speaking with masked guests who are requesting things like trash bags. The Lilac Tree Suites was fine but nothing special given the price.

It's in a great location very near the ferry docks. The suites are perfectly arranged for multiple people with three rooms, a bedroom, bath and vanity area, and living room. We really enjoyed our balcony. It was very clean and they were especially careful about Covid safety.

Our weekend of July 17th-19th at Lilac Tree was wonderful. We stayed in a 2nd floor street-view balcony suite and our accommodations lived up to our expectations. The bed & linens were extremely comfy, the suite was very clean and we appreciated the larger shower. During this time of Covid awareness, I wish I could offer more about customer service but the staff kept their distance under the circumstances. However, the couple of times we approached housekeeping & front desk personnel, we were greeted warmly and our requests were cheerfully met. Location mans a lot to us, so a brief walk to The Carriage House for dinner (and to propose to my Sweetie 🥰)

My sister and I took our annual girls trip and stayed at the Lilac Tree this time. What a lovely place! The lobby is gorgeous, and the two ladies working there were so friendly. They got us into our room in no times. The room was beautiful. Our bedroom had two very comfortable beds and plenty of room to move around. The closet was large enough for us to hang all of our clothes, and there was room to stash our suitcases. The area that connected the bedroom to the living room had an awesome big double sink area where we could each have our own space to spread out. Our bathroom had a tub shower combination, which was fine. It did take a bit for the water to get hot, but once it did, it was HOT.
Our living room had a balcony that overlooked main street and we could also see the harbor and lake. Beautiful view, and so fun to sit out and people watch.
The living room had a comfortable couch and chair, as well as a table with chairs. Everything throughout the entire room was spotless.
We stayed right across the hall from an elevator, but never heard any noise at all. Only noise issue we had was the second night there were some kids who were old enough to know better running up and down the hall. I opened our door at the same time as another guest and we both gave them a stern look, which thankfully put an end to it.
There was a young man who came every day to empty the trash and clean our room. Wish I could recall his name. He was the best! Then every evening they came around with Oreo cookies and a glass of cold milk!
The Lilac Tree has a great location. It's about in the middle of main street and very close to the ferry dock. I'd highly recommend them if you're going to be visiting the island.

Lilac Tree Suites is a great place to stay on Mackinac Island. When we arrived on the island, our luggage had already been taken to the hotel as it had come over on the previous ferry. The hotel is about a 2 block walk from Shepler's Dock. The front Reception Desk staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Since we arrived about 2 hours before check-in, they were going to store our luggage and call us when our room was ready. Just as we were leaving to explore, they received a message from Housekeeping that our room was ready. Great timing, as this allowed us to get settled in before we went out to explore the island. They called the porter who came back and brought the luggage up to the room.
We had a double queen bed suite on the 3rd floor with a balcony looking out over Main Street and a view of the harbor. We really enjoyed this as it was a great way to people watch and carriage watch. It is a nice place to enjoy morning coffee or relax with a drink. The suites are very roomy, with the bedroom and living area separated by a spacious bathroom area. A pocket door can be pulled out to separate the areas if someone wants to sleep late. The bathroom has a toilet and shower in a closed room with a large area outside with 2 sinks. The living area has a wet bar, large mini fridge and microwave. There are glasses and coffee mugs. There is a Keurig coffee maker with a supply of pods. There are large TVs in both the bedroom and living area. Each night we came back to turned down beds and chocolates on the pillow. Given the central location, it is very close to most restaurants, shops and sights.
The night before check out, we stopped at the front desk and the great staff helped with questions and suggestions about check out. About 15 minutes before we were going to check out the next morning, we called the front desk and they contacted the porter to come get our luggage. These guys do a great job with luggage on the island. They put tags on everything, ask if you are sure you have your ferry tickets and car keys and then load up the bags. We were able to take a leisurely last walk on Main Street before boarding the ferry.
We highly recommend Lilac Tree Suites if you are staying on Mackinac Island. This is a wonderful hotel!!

Balcony was the icing on the cake. Bedroom was back from the street so quiet night. Very nice 3 night stay and would stay here again for sure. I felt very safe here as well and housekeeping gave me what i needed in the morning since rooms were not cleaned every day d/t COVID restrictions.

I love to stay at Lilac Tree Suites because when you have 5 or more people, they can accommodate you all in one room and it’s much cheaper than getting 2 or 3 rooms at other hotels. I also like that we’re able to use the hot tub at the Chippewa Hotel, which overlooks the bay. The people are always nice and we like the location, so close to the docks. It’s also great to be able to park our bikes in their bike racks outback overnight. We’ve stayed here several times and always enjoy our stay.

Yes! The bedroom has a flat screen TV and the living room also has a flat screen TV. We have DirecTV, so we get a variety of channels here.

No. However they share amenities with the Chippewa Hotel, at the far end of the main block, on the other side of the street.
Island View Suites are on each of the floors (2, 3 & 4) and face the side opposite of Main Street. The Main Street facing suites are known as our Balcony Suites.
