Having been to Mackinac Island many times, I’m very familiar with standard accommodations on the island. Many are B & Bs that offer a step back in time in an old home where you share space and time with many other couples around the property. Decided to try Hart’s as we wanted simple and convenient. Hart’s is different. It’s small and it’s built like a small motel in an excellent location. Maybe 6 or 8 rooms so no schlepping luggage up stairs and down long hallways. All with A/C and TVs. We got a King room and it had everything we needed. Places for both suitcases. Nice bathroom with excellent shower pressure. Outdoors there are several tables on the lawn where you can watch the passing parade of bikes and horse carriages. Breakfast was normal continental with muffins, cereals, juices, yogurts, etc. No complaints here.…
First, this is not a normal bed and breakfast, it is more like a small motel. Breakfast is below par, not much offered. The room had a musty smell, but was very clean, the manager was friendly and helpful. Location was the best part of the stay. Central location. Ok for a one night stay, overpriced for what you got, but that is what Mackinac island is all about
We LOVED our stay at Hart's. Blanca and David are fantastic hosts and very kind. We had a very full breakfast every morning four doors down at Metiviers Inn. Very nice location and quiet. Slept like a baby in the bed. Would highly recommend.
The room was very clean and nicely decorated but very small which wasn’t terrible as we didn’t spend a lot of time there. The location was convenient, only one block over from Main St., so an easy walk and was also close to the Sheppler Ferry dock. I can’t comment on the staff as we did not see anyone during our 2 day stay as the keys were left in an envelope in the check-in area. My one complaint is there’s no where to sit anything except for a small corner table and a foldable luggage rack, even the sink in the bathroom was a pedestal so no where to put your shave kit or makeup bag. We enjoyed our visit and plan on returning to the island, however, during our stay we learned of other hotels with more amenities at a better price in the same area and will be looking into those.
We do an annual girls trip to the island and have stayed at numerous places over the years. Harts was very clean and in a great location. The manager Pierre was OUTSTANDING and took great care of us, as did the other gentleman who's name escapes me. The Inn itself did lack a little if you are expecting more of a bed and breakfast (which we kind of were but it worked out fine). The breakfast was more of a continental breakfast at a chain hotel - dry cereal, yogurt, muffins etc. A couple of inexpensive adds to the Inn that would be greatly helpful to guests would be 1) "real" hairdryers in the rooms (not the kind that snap into themselves on the wall), 2) mini Keurig coffee makers in the rooms 3) a full sized ice machine for guests (the mini one was usually out of ice). There is one room that we were glad we didn't get as it was connected to the common area where the food is served and the ice maker is - we were talking loudly and had no idea that the door led to a guest room until someone came out! Oops. All in all I would not hesitate to return to Harts on our next trip!…
This is a nice place off the strip. We were there for our 14th Anniversary in July 2019. The rooms were nice and the location was great. These rooms need to have a mini fridge at least in them to store your stuff. They have a community fridge but it gets packed with all the guest stuff there. The Price seemed very high and they stated it was because the yacht races coming in from chicago. Really never seen any come in other than one here and there. We stayed there 2 nights and thought we over paid. Now the good, the New host John was an excellent guy and has only been there about a week so far, i would go back just because of his friendliness. He sat with is outside and we talked about everything and he was very down to earth. Pierre was a good kid also and is a very hard worker and will do anything to help your experience be simple and smooth. I would go back there because of these two but would have to be on a discounted rate for sure. Watch the calendar for prices they vary all the time. If there is an event going on then you will pay outrageous prices. The continental breakfast is not good they offer B and B but give just bagels and cereal and hard boiled eggs, we paid good money and had to go buy a regular breakfast as well. Not worth the price we paid but would go back on discounted rates…
They don't come much sweeter than Pierre and Blanca, managers that we had contact with during our 2 night stay. They really seemed to enjoy their jobs and were so very friendly. We have stayed in a variety of places on the island but I think Hart's will keep us coming back. Very clean room. Easy walk up from Sheplers dock. Very quiet although room walls are thin but had very quiet neighbors. It was so fun to eat our breakfast at the tables in the beautiful courtyard. Breakfast was adequate, nothing fancy. Looking forward to our next visit there.
My room here was clean and comfortable, but it wasnt the experience i had planned for. It was referred to as a bed and breakfast, its more like an old fashioned small motel. As far as breakfast, its a basic continental breakfast that consisted of what appeared to be cereal and toast. Thats not what I planned on when i booked a B&B and spent that amount of money for a place to stay.
My husband and I stayed here over Memorial Day Weekend 2019, for our babymoon 😊 The room was very clean and had everything we needed for our stay. The property was well maintained, offered a courtyard with tables and chairs along with a bench which faced the street. There is a bike rack on the property, which was convenient for us as we did bring our bikes on the trip. Small towels were provided to wipe off your bike each morning, which we did take advantage of. I only wish we put plastic bags over our seats each night as my seat seemed to soak up the rain water. There are only a few rooms which is nice as we never felt it was loud, overcrowded. It made our stay more personal. The Inn is off of the main road, still close to everything the island has to offer but far enough away that the noise of the crowds & restaurants are not keeping you up at night. There was no fridge in the room but there was one in the office area to use along with ice in the freezer for guests. There is Wi-Fi and we did not have any issues of it going in & out, not letting us sign in, etc. Overall, it was a perfect fit for our weekend getaway.…
This was my 4th time staying at Hart's. I like the location off the main road, but it's still close to everything. It's also one of the more economical places on the island. It's usually quiet since small, and the staff are personable. The manage offered me a room free upgrade from a queen bed room to a king bed room since the king room was otherwise vacant. It was a great offer, but I turned it down since there are other things I like about the queen room. I always call to see if a certain one is available rather than making my reservation online. There's a bike rack for parking in the yard. In the common area is a small but fairly decent size fridge that guests can use. The manager keeps it stocked with ice. Breakfast isn't fancy, but there's enough variety to fill you up. Yogurt, peanut butter, and hard-boiled eggs provide more protein than I've had at other places. The outdoor seating is a pleasant way to start a day on the island.…
